Jenrry Mejia converted his second save with a scoreless ninth inning in Thursday's win over the Dodgers.

Sat May 17 201419:06Mejia earns first save as Mets beat Nationals
Jenrry Mejia earned his first career save in the Mets' 5-2 win over the Nationals on Saturday.
Mejia surrendered a leadoff single to Jayson Werth but worked around that threat, striking out Wilson Ramos, inducing a groundball from Ian Desmond, and then fanning Danny Espinosa to end the game. The Mets are operating with a committee at closer until a reliable go-to option emerges. Mejia could very well be the guy.

Thu May 15 201416:04Mejia to close for Mets on Thursday
Mets manager Terry Collins said that he'll use Jenrry Mejia if a save opportunity presents itself on Thursday against the Yankees.
Collins isn't ready to name a permanent closer, so he'll go day-to-day with the situation until one emerges. Jeurys Familia has shown some promise, but Mejia should be considered the favorite assuming he can handle pitching on back-to-back days. Pick him up in leagues where he was dropped.

Mon May 12 201423:27Jenrry Mejia gets win in relief debut
Jenrry Mejia was called on Monday despite throwing 102 pitches on Friday and pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up a win against the Yankees.
Terry Collins felt it was fine to use Mejia on two days' rest and just hours after the switch to the pen was announced. Mejia did his job well, and he now has a nice 4-0 record on the season. Of course, the undefeated record didn't do him any good in the first place.

Mon May 12 201416:27Mets move Jenrry Mejia to the bullpen
Jenrry Mejia has been moved to the bullpen.
In turn, Rafael Montero will be called up to make his major league debut Wednesday against the Yankees. Mejia has posted a 5.06 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 37 1/3 innings this season and appears to run out of steam in the middle innings. Mets general manager Sandy Alderson is confident that he can help solve some of the team's issues in the bullpen.

Sat May 10 201416:25Mejia could be removed from Mets' rotation
Jenrry Mejia could be moved to the bullpen next week.
Mejia lasted just 4 2/3 innings on Friday night against the Phillies and owns a rough 5.06 ERA and 1.58 WHIP on the year. He's shown flashes of front-line stuff, but his control and consistency are still works in progress.

Fri May 9 201423:57Mejia can't make it through five innings
Jenrry Mejia tossed 101 pitches yet was still unable to make it through five innings in a no-decision against the Phillies on Friday.
He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, allowing a pair of runs on six hits and and three walks while striking out four. While he has exceptional stuff, he continues to be highly inconsistent and seems to tire the deeper that he works into games. He'll take a disappointing 5.06 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 38/20 K/BB ratio into Wednesday's start against the Yankees.

Fri May 9 201416:21Jenrry Mejia to be capped at 120-125 innings
Mets manager Terry Collins said Friday that Jenrry Mejia will likely be capped at 120-125 innings this season.
It's no surprise given that he's never thrown more than 108 innings as a pro due to injuries. Mejia was limited to just 52 frames last year. The young right-hander is currently on pace for 157 2/3 innings, so obviously he'll have to be shut down at some point or possibly moved to the bullpen.

Sun May 4 201400:07Mejia gives up eight runs, Mets fall to Rox
Jenrry Mejia gave up eight earned runs in 4 1/3 innings Saturday as the Mets fell to the Rockies.
Mejia posted zeroes over his first four frames, but the Rockies exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the fifth -- capped off by a Nolan Arenado grand slam. Mejia has great promise, but consistency has been an issue. He'll carry a 5.23 ERA into his next start vs. Philly.

Sat Apr 26 201422:51Mets' Mejia pounded for six runs by Marlins
Jenrry Mejia was pounded for six earned runs in 5 2/3 innings Saturday as the Mets lost to the Marlins.
It was a disappointing showing from the 24-year-old right-hander, who entered the start with a promising 3-0 record and 1.99 ERA. Mejia gave up eight hits -- including a Giancarlo Stanton two-run blast -- while watching his ERA climb all the way to 3.49. Inconsistency should be the expectation going forward with Mejia.

Mon Apr 21 201422:09Jenrry Mejia combines on shutout of Cards
Jenrry Mejia allowed four hits over 6 2/3 innings and combined with three relievers on a shutout of the Cardinals on Monday.
Mejia left his last start with a blister, but he was able to pitch today on five days' rest and he tossed a gem against a slumping St. Louis offense. Mejia is now 3-0 with a 1.99 ERA. He's getting enough strikeouts and grounders to remain effective, but do remember that he's one of the league's most obvious breakdown candidates.

Sat Apr 19 201417:11Mejia (blister) cleared to start Mon. vs. STL
Jenrry Mejia (blister) has been cleared to start Monday in the Mets' series-opener against the Cardinals.
Mejia made it through a bullpen session Saturday without being bothered by the blister on his right middle finger. The 24-year-old is 2-0 with a 2.81 ERA in three starts this year, but St. Louis is a tough fantasy matchup.

Sat Apr 19 201416:06Mejia (blister) hoping to start Mon. vs. STL
Jenrry Mejia (blister) will try to throw a bullpen session on Saturday.
If it goes well, he should be cleared to start Monday against the Cardinals. Mejia tore open a big blister on his hand Tuesday after throwing five scoreless innings against the Diamondbacks. The 24-year-old right-hander is 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 16 innings this season for the Mets.

Wed Apr 16 201400:48Jenrry Mejia has 'one hell of a blister'
Mets manager Terry Collins said after Tuesday's game that Jenrry Mejia has "one hell of a blister."
Collins added that Mejia "tore it up completely" during Tuesday's start and that there is "concern" about the righty. That said, he also didn't rule out Mejia making his next start. The Mets are off Thursday, so the club could give Mejia an extra day of rest.

Tue Apr 15 201423:47Jenrry Mejia exits start due to blister
Jenrry Mejia left Tuesday's start against the Diamondbacks after five scoreless innings due to a torn blister on his right middle finger.
Mejia was cruising along, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out three. He had thrown just 77 pitches, so he surely had at least another couple innings in him before the blister issue cropped up. Mejia seems likely to be OK for his next outing since the blister has already popped, but we'll have to see what the Mets say after the game.

Thu Apr 10 201423:28Jenrry Mejia strikes out seven Braves
Jenrry Mejia allowed four runs in five innings and struck out seven in a no-decision against the Braves on Thursday.
Mejia managed to keep the Mets in the game despite some wildness (four walks) and two homers from Justin Upton. His stuff has been good, but it has been rather disappointing so see him walk nine in his first two starts. Last year, he had a 27/4 K/BB ratio in five starts for the Mets.

Jenrry Mejia will be the Mets' fifth starter.
He beat out Daisuke Matsuzaka fro the job. Mejia was hit in the right arm with a comebacker on Friday night, but X-rays taken Saturday turned up negative. The 24-year-old right-hander posted a 2.30 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 27 1/3 major league innings last season. He's worth a look in some deeper mixed formats.

Fri Mar 28 201421:22Right forearm bruise, X-rays coming for Mejia
Jenrry Mejia suffered a right forearm bruise after being hit by a line drive and will go for X-rays after Friday's game.
Mejia took a comeback liner in his right forearm, ending his night after four-plus innings. The X-rays are being called precautionary, so right now he seems to have dodged a bullet.

Fri Mar 28 201420:45Mejia exits after being hit by comeback liner
Jenrry Mejia left Friday's start against the Blue Jays after being hit by a line drive in the right forearm.
Mejia was through four innings so it's uncertain how much longer he'd have gone anyway, but the pitch was his last regardless. The right-hander gave up four hits and a walk in his four innings of work, striking out three. It was his last start before the start of the season, and more should be known about his right forearm and his availability for next week after the game.
