Nix was eligible to be activated from the DL Friday, but it doesn't sound like he's close to coming back. The Reds might choose to shut him down for the regular season and get him ready for a possible bench spot in the postseason. |

Nix hasn't been able to run since spraining his ankle last Monday, so it didn't make much sense to keep him on the active roster any longer. He should be back during September. |

The Mets used Francisco Rodriguez in Sunday's blowout loss to the Phillies, but for some reason, Jerry Manuel thought Manny Acosta was a better option in the 11th inning. He paid for it, as Nix hit a one-out home run to lead the Reds to the victory. It was the first home run in 29 at-bats for Nix this season. |
