Fri Mar 18 201114:10Lincoln hit on throwing arm, leaves start
Brad Lincoln was pulled from his Friday start after taking a line drive off his right arm.
Lincoln was able to field the ball and throw out the runner, but the Bucs pulled him as a precaution and will probably have him rest for the next couple of days. The 25-year-old righty allowed one hit and issued two walks in 2 2/3 innings before departing.

Thu Mar 3 201116:17Pirates' Lincoln goes three scoreless
After replacing Charlie Morton, Brad Lincoln turned in three perfect innings to earn a win over the Blue Jays on Thursday.
Lincoln also followed Morton last week and allowed one run in two innings then. Morton allowed one run in his three innings today, so both he and Lincoln are now sporting 1.80 ERA after two starts. The two are battling Scott Olsen for a spot in Pittsburgh's rotation.

Fri Jan 28 201119:02Brad Lincoln likely to begin season in minors
Pirates GM Neal Huntington said Brad Lincoln is "probably on the outside looking in right now" for a rotation spot.
Lincoln could force the team's hand with a strong performance in spring training, but he'll enter camp behind Scott Olsen and Charlie Morton for the No. 5 spot. The former first-round pick posted a 6.66 ERA and 1.54 WHIP over 52 2/3 innings this past season, but his struggles can be partly blamed on being asked to alter his delivery after getting called up. Huntington added that whichever of Olsen and Morton that don't win a rotation spot could wind up in the bullpen.

Wed Jan 26 201104:50Lincoln to battle for final rotation spot
Brad Lincoln will compete for the Pirates' last rotation spot in training camp.
Kevin Correia, Paul Maholm, James McDonald, and Ross Ohlendorf are expected to be in the rotation. Charlie Morton and Scott Olsen are among those who will challenge Lincoln for the fifth spot. The fourth overall pick in the 2009 Amateur Draft, Lincoln was forced to alter his delivery after getting called up to the Majors, which likely contributed to his abysmal 6.66 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. He will have his work cut out for him this spring.

Wed Sep 22 201009:59Lincoln available out of bullpen
Pirates manager John Russell said that Brad Lincoln is available out of the bullpen.
Lincoln is ready to go after working on some mechanical adjustments with Pirates pitching coach Ray Searage, but Russell is looking for the right situation to use him. "Unfortunately, we haven't really had a situation to bring him in," said Russell. "One side of it is, it's been good that we haven't had to use him because we've been in some games and our starters have done pretty well. On the other hand, I would like to get him a couple innings here or there before the season ends." Lincoln is only expected to only pitch in lower-leverage situations.

Thu Sep 16 201009:43Lincoln (neck) throws extended side session
Pirates manager Brad Lincoln (neck, shoulder) threw an extended side session on Wednesday.
Pirates manager John Russell said that Lincoln could be ready to pitch by the weekend. He isn't expected to pitch out of the Pirates' rotation, however. The young right-hander was limited in the final weeks of the season scheduled with Triple-A Indianapolis due to neck and shoulder stiffness. He isn't fantasy relevant.

Tue Sep 7 201008:33Pirates recall Brad Lincoln from Triple-A
Pirates recalled RHP Brad Lincoln from Triple-A Indianapolis.
The Pirates have called on Lincoln for nine different starts this year and he's rewarded them poorly with a 1-4 record, a 6.57 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. The righty should be allowed nowhere near a fantasy roster.
Wed Sep 1 201012:36Lincoln (neck) to start at Triple-A Wednesday
Brad Lincoln (neck) is scheduled to throw 50 pitches with Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.
Lincoln has been on the minor league disabled list for a little over a week due to neck soreness/stiffness. With a good performance, he could still rejoin the major league team in September. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 6.57 ERA in nine starts with the Pirates this season.

Sun Aug 22 201012:50Pirates could go to six-man rotation
The Pirates could go to a six-man rotation in September.
The move would be made in order to give Brad Lincoln another shot in the rotation, as he would join Zach Duke, Ross Ohlendorf, Paul Maholm, Jeff Karstens and James McDonald. Lincoln held a 6.57 ERA before getting sent down last month but has pitched well at Triple-A, boasting a 3.71 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.

Sun Jul 25 201017:57Pirates demote struggling SP Brad Lincoln
Pirates optioned RHP Brad Lincoln to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Lincoln allowed six runs in 6 1/3 innings against the Padres on Sunday and was promptly expelled from the active roster. He posted a 6.57 ERA and 21/14 K/BB in 50 2/3 innings with the Pirates, but will return to a 3.16 ERA at Indy. It's likely he will return to Pittsburgh at some point this season.
Sun Jul 25 201016:35Pirates' Lincoln hit hard again
Brad Lincoln was roughed up for six runs in 6 1/3 innings of a loss to the Padres on Sunday.
Lincoln gave up eight hits, including two homers, and two walks while striking out three. The right-hander was posting a 3.16 ERA and quality ratios in Triple-A before being promoted, but it simply hasn't translated thus far and Lincoln is left with a 6.57 ERA and 21/14 K/BB in 50 2/3 innings as a result. He's not a fantasy option right now, but Lincoln is still someone the Pirates should let learn in the majors and see if he's a part of their long-term plans.
Sat Jun 26 201001:25Pirates' Lincoln takes loss to A's
Brad Lincoln lost Friday after allowing five runs -- three earned -- in six innings against the A's.
Lincoln fanned just one batter tonight. He had an 8/8 K/BB ratio to go along with his 6.00 ERA in 24 innings as a major leaguer. At least he is consistent, though. He's gone exactly six innings and allowed three or five runs in each of his starts.
Tue Jun 15 201022:21Lincoln tagged for five runs in loss to CHIWS
Brad Lincoln allowed five earned runs over six innings in a loss to the White Sox on Tuesday night.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2006 draft gave up six hits while striking out two and walking three. He's now posted a 7.50 ERA in two career starts against the mediocre lineups of Washington and Chicago, which doesn't bode well for his immediate future when great hitters come to town. Even so, Lincoln has the talent to be a viable option in NL-only leagues. He'll be a decent play in that format this weekend against the Indians.
Wed Jun 9 201022:35Brad Lincoln just mediocre in his MLB debut
Brad Lincoln yielded five earned runs over six innings of work in a no-decision during his MLB debut against the Nationals on Wednesday night.
Lincoln is no Strasburg. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2006 draft gave up seven hits while striking out three and walking two. He got welcomed to the Big Leagues by Adam Dunn in the very first inning as the Big Donkey took him way out of the park. Lincoln has good enough stuff to be viable in NL-only leagues, but he has the look of an innings-eater more than an asset.
Wed Jun 9 201013:36Pirates recall Lincoln from Triple-A
Pirates recalled RHP Brad Lincoln from Triple-A Indianapolis.
As expected, Lincoln will make his major league debut against the Nationals on Wednesday night. He never had Stephen Strasburg-like hype, but Lincoln was the No. 4 selection in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. Now 25 years old, Lincoln posted a 3.16 ERA and 55/14 K/BB ratio over 68 1/3 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis this season. He's worth a look in NL-only formats.
Wed Jun 9 201009:29Pirates calling up Lincoln and Tabtata
According to Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates will call up prospect right-hander Brad Lincoln and outfielder Jose Tabata before Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
Lincoln was widely expected to make his major league debut on Wednesday, but the promotion of Tabata comes as a minor surprise. The 21-year-old outfielder is batting .308/.373/.424 with three home runs, 19 RBI and 25 stolen bases in 224 at-bats with Triple-A Indianapolis this season. We're still eagerly awaiting Pedro Alvarez's debut, but the two are a nice infusion of youth for a team that was dominated by Stephen Strasburg on Tuesday night.

Sun Jun 6 201013:16Lincoln could make MLB debut on Wednesday
Pirates general manager Neil Huntington said that Brad Lincoln could make his major league debut on Wednesday, according to Dejan Kovacevic.
This comes as something of a surprise considering it was just one week ago that Huntington said that Lincoln wasn't close to joining the team. It'll be quite a series if Lincoln does get promoted as he'll make his debut the day after Stephen Strasburg makes his. Lincoln is 6-2 with a 3.16 ERA and a 0.995 WHIP in 11 starts for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Sun May 30 201012:59Pirates not looking to call up Lincoln
Pirates general manager Neil Huntington said that minor leaguer Brad Lincoln is not close to joining the team.
Lincoln got off to a slow start, but has really turned it on in May and has lowered his overall line to 5-2 with a 3.47 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP in 10 starts. With all the trouble the Pirates have had with their rotation, it's surprising that they are keeping the 24-year-old in Triple-A, but as always, service clocks almost certainly play a role in this decision.

Tue May 18 201011:38Lincoln fans 10 in start for Triple-A Indy
Pirates prospect Brad Lincoln struck out 10 batters over seven strong innings Monday in a start at Triple-A Indianapolis.
Lincoln had a shaky April for Indy, but has really turned it on in May, posting a 2.57 ERA and a 21/3 K/BB ratio over his last three starts. He touches 96 MPH with his fastball and owns an improving curve. Soon enough, the 24-year-old could be flashing those pitches in the major leagues.
