Wed May 12 2010 | 01:43 | D'Backs' Gutierrez allows four runs in relief |
Juan Gutierrez gave up four runs in two-thirds of an inning out of the pen Tuesday against the Dodgers. |
The door was open for Gutierrez to replace Chad Qualls as Arizona's closer, but he's been a bust to date. This pushes his ERA up to 9.00 through 14 innings. |
Wed Apr 28 2010 | 19:38 | D'Backs' Gutierrez records first save |
Juan Gutierrez picked up his first save with a perfect ninth Wednesday versus the Rockies. |
Chad Qualls should have been available today, but the Diamondbacks turned to Gutierrez instead. We'll assume it was still A.J. Hinch's call, even though he had been ejected from the contest. Gutierrez entered with a 6.00 ERA, but he's definitely throwing better than Qualls and he's worth owning in most formats. |
Sat Apr 17 2010 | 02:41 | D'Backs' Gutierrez blows save, takes loss |
Getting a chance to close in place of a resting Chad Qualls, Juan Gutierrez gave up four runs in the ninth Friday to blow a save and take a loss to the Padres. |
Gutierrez did well filling in for Qualls last season, but he missed a big chance to capitalize on Qualls' early failures to open 2010. He gave up the tying run on a David Eckstein and, after an intentional walk to Adrian Gonzalez, surrendered a walkoff homer to Chase Headley. |
