Thu Jul 22 201021:58Millwood's return to rotation is rocky one
Kevin Millwood allowed five runs over 6 1/3 innings Thursday in his return to the Orioles rotation.
The righty settled in after a rocky first inning in which he allowed three runs, but the damage had already been done. He gave up seven hits and walked three while striking out two. Millwood hadn't pitched since July 5 due to forearm injury. The O's are hoping that he'll get hot and they can trade him, but given that he has allowed fewer than four runs just once over his previous nine starts, there probably isn't a line of suitors for him.
Sat Jul 17 201001:05Millwood (forearm) throws side session
Kevin Millwood (forearm) threw a bullpen session before Friday's game.
This, after tossing a light side session Thursday without any pain. He won't be activated from the disabled list when he is eligible on Tuesday, but Orioles interim manager Juan Samuel thinks he's about a week away.

Mon Jul 5 201020:41O's concerned about Millwood's health
Orioles interim manager Juan Samuel confirmed that the team is worried about Kevin Millwood's health.
"There is some concern there," Samuel said. "Kranny has noticed that his ball was just not coming out of his hand today [with authority] and his velocity was a little bit down. And knowing Kevin, he is not going to tell you what's wrong and what's not. He is one of those guys that's going to take the ball anytime you give it to him." Millwood gave up five runs in just one inning against the Tigers on Monday and just hasn't looked right for well over a month now. There's nothing official yet, but if he needed a stint on the disabled list, Chris Tillman would be a candidate to start Saturday.

Mon Jul 5 201018:19Could Millwood be headed for DL?
Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun speculates that Kevin Millwood could be headed for the disabled list.
According to Connolly, Millwood had a closed door meeting with "the powers that be" after Monday's game, so a decision shouldn't be far away. The veteran right-hander gave up five runs in just one inning on Monday and has a 9.89 ERA over his last seven starts, so he could have been pitching with an injury for quite some time. Whatever trade value he once had is just about gone.

Wed Jun 30 201022:37Millwood has rough outing vs. Oakland
Kevin Millwood gave up six runs -- five earned -- over five innings as part of a no-decision against the Orioles on Wednesday night.
Millwood was cruising for the first three innings, but then gave up an ugly six-spot in the fourth. Outings like this aren't going to make Millwood an appealing option for contenders as the Orioles try to sell at the deadline. He's given up four earned runs or more in five of his last six starts.
Wed Jun 30 201020:11Mets not interested in Millwood, Westbrook
The Mets would like to upgrade their pitching, but they want to add a frontline starter like Cliff Lee or Roy Oswalt, not a middling guy like Kevin Millwood or Jake Westbrook.
R.A. Dickey and Hisanori Takahashi have pitched relatively well, putting less pressure on general manager Omar Minaya and Co. to make a move. There's a good chance that Millwood and Westbrook will be moved before the deadline, but it sounds like they won't be headed to Queens.

Sat Jun 19 201023:35Millwood beats Padres for first win of 2010
Kevin Millwood held the Padres to three earned runs in six innings Saturday to earn his first victory of the 2010 season.
Finally. Millwood struck out five, walked two and is now 1-8 on the season with a 5.12 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP. Those aren't fantasy-worthy stats, and he's been too unreliable lately to own in most formats.
Sun Jun 13 201016:46Millwood rocked by Mets for eight runs
Kevin Millwood was roughed up for eight runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Mets on Sunday to fall to 0-8 on the season.
Millwood walked just one and struck out four, but he was hardly unlucky while allowing three homers in the contest. Millwood had a solid 3.71 ERA as recently as four outings ago, but it's now all the way up to 5.16 as he's lost his last four starts. On the downside the struggles are hurting Millwood's trade value for this July; on the upside the Orioles are six games "ahead" of the Pirates in acquiring the first pick of the 2011 draft. Given the availability of Rice third basemen Anthony Rendon in next year's draft, Orioles fans may well be fine with Millwood's recent performances.
Wed Jun 2 201010:52Millwood would be open to trade to Mets
Kevin Millwood told Dan Martin of the New York Post that he is open to a trade to the Mets.
"If the Mets called the Orioles and wanted to do something, I'd certainly look at it," said Millwood, who has a limited no-trade clause. "If it came up, I'd definitely consider it a possibility." The 35-year-old right-hander is 0-5 with the last-place Orioles, but has a 3.89 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through his first 11 starts. The Mets aren't the only team that will be calling, as the veteran is a decent and a cheaper alternative to Cliff Lee or Roy Oswalt.

Sun May 23 201016:59Millwood notches quality start in no-decision
Kevin Millwood held the Nationals to three runs in 6 1/3 innings on Sunday but did not factor into the decision of a 4-3 Orioles' loss.
Millwood struck out eight and walked just one in the outing. However, two hit batters and eight hits meant he was far from dominating. With a 3.71 ERA and 1.28 WHIP thus far, Millwood is positioning himself as one of the better starting pitchers available for trade this season. A new address is likely at some point before the end of July, and it could come sooner rather than later.
Tue May 18 201022:05Millwood (ND) allows 3 runs over 8 innings
Kevin Millwood allowed three runs over eight innings in a no-decision Orioles victory against the Royals on Tuesday.
Millwood smartly made the Royals beat him by not surrendering a walk. Kansas City did tag him for 10 hits, but Millwood struck out seven and kept Baltimore in the game. The veteran right-hander has produced a 3.65 ERA to this point and has a favorable matchup against Washington this weekend, where he could be used as a spot start in mixed leagues.
Tue Apr 27 201022:44SP Millwood solid as Orioles beat Yankees
Kevin Millwood yielded two runs in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision Orioles victory against the Yankees on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old veteran still hasn't earned his first win as an Orioles, but we're sure he'll take the O's victory over the Yankees. Millwood wasn't exactly superb in the 5-4 win, allowing five hits and three walks while striking out four. But, once again, he kept his team in the game and this time the Orioles came through, although New York made it interesting in the ninth while tacking two unearned runs on Alfredo Simon. Millwood lowered his ERA to 3.37.
Sun Apr 11 201016:06Millwood handed tough loss against Jays
Kevin Millwood was handed a loss after yielding four runs -- one earned -- in 7 2/3 innings against the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Millwood was cruising through the first 23 outs, but a Miguel Tejada error in the eighth allowed Jose Bautista to step to the plate and belt a two-run blast. Alex Gonzalez followed with his second solo homer of the game to make it 4-2, and Millwood was then pulled. It was an otherwise strong start for Millwood, who gave up just two other hits and no walks while striking out six. The right-hander has posted an impressive 11/1 K/BB through two starts and has a favorable matchup against the Athletics next time out.
Tue Apr 6 201022:25SP Millwood is solid in Orioles debut
Kevin Millwood held the Rays to two runs over five innings in his Orioles debut on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old veteran was in line for the victory before new closer Mike Gonzalez blew a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning. Millwood allowed nine hits and a walk while striking out five. We expect regression from Millwood, who went 13-10 with a 3.67 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 31 starts last season for the Rangers, but a solid performance on the road against an elite team like Tampa Bay constitutes as a promising start to his Baltimore career.
