Whiteside has decided to retire from active competition and take a job as a coach with the Giants, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. |
The 35-year-old signed a minor league contract with the Braves back in November, but it seems he soured on the idea of toiling in the minors for another year and will instead embark on a new journey. Whiteside will return to the Giants, with whom he spent the 2009-2012 season, after going 3-for-25 in eight games with the Cubs in 2014. |
