Mon Aug 4 201417:15Cingrani (shoulder) has rebooted throwing program
Cingrani (shoulder) has rebooted his throwing program, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Cingrani hasn't thrown since he was placed on the disabled list for a second time this season in late June, but the recent development puts him on a track for rehab outings in the coming weeks. However, only a month remains for minor league regular seasons, which could hinder his ability to return to the Reds' rotation before season's end.
Sun Jul 27 201410:26Cingrani (shoulder) yet to resume throwing
Tony Cingrani (shoulder) has yet to resume throwing.
Cingrani has been on Triple-A Louisville's disabled list for the last month with a left shoulder impingement. "Other than the strengthening stuff, he hasn't gotten to the point where he's able to start throwing yet," Reds manager Bryan Price said. It's not clear when Cingrani will be allowed to pick up a ball again, but obviously he's not going to be an option for the Reds for a while.

Thu Jun 26 201416:53Cingrani (shoulder) goes on Triple-A DL
Tony Cingrani has been placed on Triple-A Louisville's disabled list with a left shoulder strain.
Cingrani also missed time earlier this season with the big club due to a shoulder injury. It's not clear at this point how much time he might miss. He had yet to make an appearance for Louisville after being sent down last week.

Fri Jun 20 201415:23Tony Cingrani optioned to Triple-A
Reds optioned LHP Tony Cingrani to Triple-A Louisville.
Cingrani walked in the winning run in Thursday's loss to the Pirates, which as it turns out was the final straw. The lefty was removed from the Reds' rotation last week and is probably best off staying stretched out in Louisville's rotation.

Thu Jun 19 201417:47Cingrani takes loss against Pirates
Tony Cingrani walked in the winning run in a 4-3 loss to the Pirates in 12 innings on Thursday.
Cingrani allowed a double and a walk to begin the 11th inning, but managed to wiggle out of the jam to keep the Reds alive. However, he gave up a one-out single to Gaby Sanchez in his second inning of work before balking him over to second base and intentionally walking Josh Harrison. He got Jordy Mercer to strike out swinging for the second out, but then hit Clint Barmes with a pitch before walking Russell Martin with the bases loaded to end it. The Reds have decided to keep Cingrani in the bullpen for now, but if he fails to find success, they could opt to keep him stretched out as rotation insurance in Triple-A.

Fri Jun 13 201417:18Reds not sure what they'll do with Cingrani
Reds manager Bryan Price said Friday that he's unsure whether the team will move Tony Cingrani to the bullpen or send him to Triple-A.
Cingrani, who has been bumped from the rotation to accommodate the return of Mat Latos (elbow), could undoubtedly help the team as a reliever. However, the Reds might decide he's best off staying stretched out in the Triple-A rotation. We'll know their decision on Saturday when Latos is activated.

Tue Jun 10 201400:27Tony Cingrani gives up six runs in loss
Tony Cingrani was tagged for six runs in 4 2/3 innings Monday in a loss to the Dodgers.
This is going to be Cingrani's last start for a while, as he just hasn't been the same pitcher since going down with shoulder tendinitis last month. The Reds likely were planning to send him to the pen to make room for Mat Latos, but with the way he's struggling, letting him work through his problems in the Triple-A rotation might make more sense.

Wed Jun 4 201422:38Cingrani falls to 2-6 with shaky 6th inning
Tony Cingrani fell to 2-6, allowing three runs in 5 2/3 innings as the Reds were defeated by the Giants 3-2 on Wednesday.
Cingrani was humming along nicely until the sixth inning, when Michael Morse hit a solo home run and Juan Perez hit a two-run homer to give the Giants the lead. Overall, the lefty allowed six hits, walked three, and struck out seven. While Cingrani hasn't been awful this season, he hasn't been reliable, having been able to pitch through six innings in only five of his 10 starts this season. He will take a 4.09 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP into his next start against the Dodgers at home.

Fri May 30 201400:27Cingrani yields 2 ER in loss to the Snakes
Tony Cingrani surrendered three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits over five innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
It was speculated that this start could determine Cingrani's fate in the rotation. If so, it doesn't say much. Cingrani was passable, striking out three and walking two in falling to 2-5 with a 4.01 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. Cingrani or Alfredo Simon will head to the bullpen when Mat Latos (elbow) returns. Cingrani might still be suffering from a sore shoulder that is syphoning off a little velocity, and it wouldn't shock if he were demoted or placed on the disabled list, either. Cingrani is currently scheduled to host the Giants next week.

Sun May 25 201411:34Simon could keep rotation spot over Cingrani
John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that it's possible Tony Cingrani could be demoted from the rotation when Mat Latos (elbow) returns.
That would mean Alfredo Simon, who boasts a 2.31 ERA over nine starts, would remain in the rotation. Cingrani holds a 4.06 ERA but has also struck out a batter per inning, while Simon has just 36 punchouts over 58 1/3 frames. For what it's worth, Reds manager Bryan Price offered no clues when asked about Simon potentially keeping his spot over Cingrani. "It's important that (Cingrani) pitches well," Price said. "We're going to be in a situation soon where everybody's healthy and we have six starters for five spots. Pitching well would benefit anybody. But there's no doubt pitching well would benefit him."

Sat May 24 201422:37Cingrani roughed up again in loss to Cards
Tony Cingrani fell to 2-4 as the Reds lost the Cardinals on Saturday night in Cincinnati.
Cingrani struggled out of the gate, yielding a leadoff double in the first inning to Matt Carpenter and then an RBI single to Matt Holliday. Yadier Molina hit a solo homer in the fourth and the Cards added two more runs in the sixth. Cingrani allowed four runs in all, and has now lost two straight starts since returning from the disabled list. He's a matchup-to-matchup play at this point in fantasy leagues.

Sun May 18 201416:55Cingrani takes the loss following shaky start
Tony Cingrani fell to 2-3 on the season after giving up four runs in six innings of work against the Phillies on Sunday.
The Phillies were crushing everything Cingrani -- activated from the disabled list prior to the ballgame -- was throwing early, as Jimmy Rollins and Wil Nieves hit back-to-back home runs to start the bottom of the first. He allowed three home runs in total for the first time in his career. Overall, he allowed seven hits, walked three, and struck out seven. Cingrani will take his 3.76 ERA into his next start against the Cardinals at home.

Sun May 18 201411:17Tony Cingrani activated from disabled list
Reds activated LHP Tony Cingrani from the 15-day disabled list.
Cingrani missed just barely over the minimum amount of time due to a minor shoulder ailment. He didn't make a rehab start, so his pitch count could be relatively limited against the Phillies Sunday. Cingrani boasts a 3.34 ERA with 32 strikeouts over 32 1/3 innings this season.

Fri May 16 201415:22Tony Cingrani to rejoin Reds' rotation Sunday
Tony Cingrani (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list to start on Sunday versus the Phillies.
He was either going to get the ball on Sunday or Monday, and now we have a definitive day. Cingrani missed a couple weeks with a minor shoulder ailment, but fantasy owners shouldn't hesitate to stick him back into their lineups immediately. He boasts a 3.34 with 32 strikeouts over 32 1/3 innings this season.

Wed May 14 201420:55Cingrani (shoulder) won't start on Saturday
Tony Cingrani (shoulder) won't start on Saturday as originally expected.
Cingrani will likely start Sunday or Monday instead, according to Reds manager Bryan Price. The Reds game Wednesday was postponed, possibly the cause of Cingrani's return being delayed. Either way, it appears he'll be back by early next week at the latest.

Wed May 14 201408:30Cingrani (shoulder) expected back Saturday
Tony Cingrani (shoulder) is expected to rejoin the Reds' rotation on Saturday in Philadelphia.
Against his will, Cingrani went on the disabled list earlier this month with a minor shoulder injury. It sounds like he'll be activated just one day after he's eligible. "He's got a little more to accomplish," manager Bryan Price said. "He's got a couple more bullpens. But we anticipate he'll pitch for us on the road trip."

Thu May 1 201415:54Cingrani (shoulder) did not want to go on DL
Tony Cingrani (shoulder) told reporters Thursday that he didn't feel like he needed a disabled list stint.
The Reds placed the young left-hander on the 15-day DL Thursday afternoon with what is being called mild shoulder tendinitis. "It's their call," Cingrani said after the announcement. "They want to cautious." It sounds like he will be back in action by mid-May.

Thu May 1 201415:34Reds put Tony Cingrani (shoulder) on the DL
Reds placed LHP Tony Cingrani on the 15-day disabled list with left shoulder tendinitis.
Cingrani was uncharacteristically shaky in the Reds' loss to the Cubs on Wednesday, yielding three earned runs on six hits and two walks while lasting only four innings. And now there's an explanation for that. It's not known how long the left-hander will be out. The Reds may have to turn to Jeff Francis to fill the hole.

Wed Apr 30 201423:17Cingrani only goes four in ND loss to Cubs
Tony Cingrani got the no-decision in Wednesday's loss to the Cubs, allowing three runs in four innings.
The Cubs didn't particularly hit Cingrani hard, but they did make him work. The lefty needed 79 pitches to get through his four innings, allowing six hits, two walks, and striking out only two. He's been a mix between mediocre and great, but considering the range, it's a good problem to have. Cingrani will carry a 3.34 ERA into his next start on the road against the Red Sox.

Thu Apr 24 201416:05Tony Cingrani earns win over Pirates
Tony Cingrani held the Pirates to one run in six innings and struck out seven in the Reds' victory Thursday.
Cingrani isn't pitching deep into games, but that's OK; the Reds need to limit his innings a bit to keep him on the mound through September and, hopefully, into October. He's now 2-2 with a 2.86 ERA. He's fanned 30 batters in 28 1/3 innings, which is still down a bit from last year's NL-best rate.
