Isaac Redman (ankle) returned to a limited practice on Thursday.
Redman now appears to have a chance to play versus the Redskins, but he's clearly not close to 100 percent. The Steelers may be hoping to have him as the passing-down complement to Jonathan Dwyer.

Isaac Redman (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.
Redman is expected to practice at some point between now and the weekend, but his Week 8 isn't off to a good start. With Rashard Mendenhall also not practicing this afternoon, things are looking good for Jonathan Dwyer owners.

Tue Oct 23 201214:20Redman, Mendenhall expected to practice
Isaac Redman (ankle) and Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles) are expected to practice at some point this week.
Coach Mike Tomlin allowed that both backs have a chance to play, depending on their practice performance. Tomlin neglected to name a starting running back for Week 8 after Jonathan Dwyer broke out for 122 yards at Cincinnati.

Sun Oct 21 201219:04Steelers declare inactives for Week 7
Steelers declared RBs Isaac Redman and Rashard Mendenhall, C Maurkice Pouncey, RT Marcus Gilbert, LB Chris Carter, S Troy Polamalu, and QB Charlie Batch inactive for Week 7 against the Bengals.
Jonathan Dwyer is drawing the start at tailback. Pouncey and Gilbert are offensive line starters, so Pittsburgh will turn to Doug Legursky and rookie liability Mike Adams, respectively, to replace them. The Bengals have one big advantage on Sunday Night Football; their defensive line can win the trench war.

Fri Oct 19 201213:16Isaac Redman ruled out for Week 7
Isaac Redman (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 7.
Redman missed practice all week and figures to be replaced by a mixture of Baron Batch and rookie Chris Rainey on passing downs against the Bengals. Look for Jonathan Dwyer to lead Pittsburgh's backfield in rushing attempts this week.

Thu Oct 18 201215:48Isaac Redman held out again on Thursday
Isaac Redman (ankle) missed practice again on Thursday.
Don't count on having Redman as an alternative if Rashard Mendenhall sits out. Redman is headed toward a game-time call and was wholly ineffective in four of five games prior to the injury.

Wed Oct 17 201215:58Ike Redman doesn't practice Wednesday
Isaac Redman (ankle) was held out of Wednesday's practice.
Redman is "hopeful" he can play against the Bengals, but his week isn't off to a good start. With Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles) also looking shaky for Week 7, Baron Batch could be in for a decent workload.

Tue Oct 16 201209:59Isaac Redman hopeful he can play Week 7
Isaac Redman (ankle) is "hopeful" he can play in Sunday's game against the Bengals.
The sprain Redman sustained in last Thursday's loss to the Titans does not sound overly serious. We'll get more clarity on both Redman and Rashard Mendenhall (Achilles) when the Steelers resume real practices on Wednesday.

Fri Oct 12 201209:12Redman's injury to his ankle, not his knee
According to the Steelers, the injury that knocked RB Isaac Redman out of Thursday's game was to his ankle, not his knee.
Redman appeared to be seriously injured after taking a direct hit from a helmet to his knee. In that sense, it's relatively good news that it's the ankle instead. Redman was listed as "probable" to return, but remained sidelined in a tight game. His status was not updated after the game.

Thu Oct 11 201222:49Knee injury sends Redman to sidelines
Isaac Redman exited Thursday night's game in Tennessee with a knee injury.
Redman took a helmet to the knee in the third quarter and limped to the sidelines. He had five carries for 14 yards and four catches for 105 yards before leaving while working as the third-down back. Baron Batch and Chris Rainey should see more action.

Sun Oct 7 201216:35Redman held to 41 yards in backup effort
Isaac Redman carried the ball 13 times for 41 yards versus the Eagles in Week 5.
Redman had a significant role in the offense because Rashard Mendenhall was on a pitch count in his first game back. Averaging just 2.5 yards on 45 carries, Redman should be dropped in 12- and 14-team leagues with Mendenhall taking over as the lead back.

Sun Sep 23 201221:43Redman rushes for just 27 yards in Week 3
Isaac Redman rushed for just 27 yards on nine carries in Week 3 against the Raiders.
He added three catches for 24 yards. It was Redman's best statistical running game through three weeks of the season. The thought that Redman was actually going to fill in admirably for the injured Rashard Mendenhall (knee) was laughable. He's dragged his way to 72 yards on a whopping 32 carries, so far. The Steelers have a bye next week before playing the Eagles in Week 5. The Steelers hope Mendenhall will be ready to suit up.

Sun Sep 16 201220:00Ike Redman bottled up again in win
Isaac Redman rushed for 25 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries in Sunday's win over the Jets.
He added one catch for 14 yards. Redman lost seven yards on the game's second play before accumulating 12 yards on his next five touches. He gained more than two yards only five times, but did manage gains of 14, 10 and 13 yards counting his reception. He also displayed an impressive second effort on his two-yard score in the fourth. However, it was still a largely disappointing day for a back who simply lacks any real burst. Jonathan Dwyer wasn't a whole lot better this afternoon, but Redman shouldn't be long for fantasy lineups.

Mon Sep 10 201200:34Ike Redman plods to 20 yards
Isaac Redman was dreadful in Sunday's loss to the Broncos, rushing 11 times for 20 yards.
He added two catches for seven yards. If you're keeping score at home, Redman's yards per carry came out to 1.8, or three yards less than what Jonathan Dwyer averaged on his nine totes. Redman simply showed no explosion, running into blockers and usually going down at first contact. In Redman's defense, the Steelers did lose two starting linemen to injury. Regardless, with Chris Rainey and Baron Batch also in the mix behind Dwyer, it's hard to see Redman maintaining a meaningful role going forward, particularly if Rashard Mendenhall is ready to return in Week 2.

Sun Sep 9 201209:57Report: Redman to start at RB for Steelers
Per EPSN.com, Isaac Redman (ankle) will start for the Steelers on Sunday night.
Rashard Mendenhall hasn't fully recovered from ACL surgery and is likely out until October. Redman will technically get the start, but Jonathan Dwyer is expected to get most of the early-down work with Redman playing mostly on third downs and as Big Ben's protector. It's just a complete fantasy situation to avoid, but if you are desperate, then Dwyer is your best route.

Fri Sep 7 201215:28Isaac Redman listed as probable
Isaac Redman (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 1 at Denver.
Redman won't be 100 percent, but he figures to start the game before losing the majority of early-down carries to Jonathan Dwyer. Redman should still function as the primary pass protector for Ben Roethlisberger in the shotgun and on shotgun no-huddle plays. Redman just won't be a fantasy option this week.

Fri Sep 7 201213:15Still concern over Redman's ankle injury
There remains "some concern" over Isaac Redman's ankle injury, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Redman has been listed as a full participant in practice this week, but the Steelers have made a joke out of that designation with their Rashard Mendenhall antics. The Post-Gazette confirms the coaches prefer to hold Mendenhall out "a little longer" before his 2012 debut. Redman may be available Sunday night, but we're expecting a bigger role for Jonathan Dwyer.

Thu Sep 6 201219:00Redman participates fully again on Thursday
Isaac Redman (ankle) was a full participant again in Thursday's practice.
The Steelers have made the full participation designation essentially meaningless after Rashard Mendenhall admitted that he did very little work in practice. Unlike Mendenhall, we do believe Redman will be active for Sunday's game at Denver. His exact role is up in the air, however.

Wed Sep 5 201218:39Redman's ankle set to be issue all season?
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Isaac Redman's ankle injury could be an issue "the entire season."
Redman had previously suggested that his August hip injury could linger. While Redman promises to be "ready to go" for Sunday's game against the Broncos, the two nagging injuries have the potential to sap his effectiveness all season long. Per beat writer Mark Kaboly, Redman, Rashard Mendenhall, Jonathan Dwyer, Baron Batch and Chris Rainey all rotated first-team reps in Wednesday's practice, leaving no clear favorite for fantasy production.

Wed Sep 5 201216:14Ike Redman gets in a full practice
Isaac Redman (ankle) was a full participant in Steelers practice Wednesday.
It's an excellent sign for Redman's Sunday status, though a lot will depend on how he bounces back on Thursday. Already a low-end play if he manages to suit up against the Broncos, Redman will become an exponentially poorer fantasy option if Rashard Mendenhall is actually as far along as the Steelers are claiming. Pittsburgh's backfield is shaping up as one to avoid for Week 1, though we'll know much more by Friday.
