Sun Mar 13 201111:35Podsednik (plantar fasciitis) DL bound?
Scott Podsednik (plantar fasciitis) could open the season on the disabled list.
Podsednik made his Grapefruit League debut Friday, but he suffered a setback and has been shut down. "It's a little more tender than I expected it today so we're going to give it a day, try to calm it down and come back tomorrow and see where we are," Podsednik said. "We were going to try to play today but the best thing to do is to try to prevent any more damage and give it another day to calm down and see how it feels tomorrow." If Pods opens the season on the DL, outfielder Corey Patterson and utilityman Mike McCoy's chances of making the team would greatly improve.

Sat Mar 12 201110:04Pods has setback, is scratched from lineup
Scott Podsednik was scratched from Saturday's lineup after the plantar fasciitis in his left foot flared up on him.
Pods walked twice and scored a run in his Grapefruit League debut Friday, but he's had a setback. It's not clear how long this will sidelined him, but it's something that dates back to the end of last season. His availability for Opening Day is likely up in the air.

Tue Mar 8 201112:48Podsednik could make debut on Friday
Scott Podsednik (plantar fasciitis) could make his spring debut on Friday against the Yankees.
At least, that's what Jays manager John Farrell told reporters on Tuesday in camp. Podsednik has been able to run the bases with ease since last Thursday and should have few restrictions once he is cleared for games.

Tue Mar 1 201119:58Podsednik could appear in game next week
Blue Jays manager John Farrell said Tuesday that he hopes Scott Podsednik (foot) will be able to appear in a game by the end of next week.
"[We're] looking at a game hopefully by the end of next week," said Farrell. "From our initial expectations, he is ahead of that. I don't want to rush it to the point of any setbacks, but I think by the end of next week is not out of the realm of possibilities." Podsednik, who has been sidelined due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, is expected to soon begin a light running program.

Wed Feb 23 201113:44Podsednik may not run for a couple weeks
Scott Podsednik (foot) is expected to be sidelined for the next 10-14 days before he is able to start running.
Podsednik, who signed a minor league deal with the Blue Jays last week, was originally expected to arrive at camp Sunday, but his arrival was pushed back to Wednesday morning after he received a cortisone injection to remedy a case of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. If the above timetable is accurate, the veteran outfielder might not have a lot of time to make an impression.

Mon Feb 21 201113:16Podsednik has plantar fasciitis, in boot
Scott Podsednik is battling plantar fasciitis and is currently wearing a walking boot.
The Blue Jays aren't completely sure yet how serious the condition is or how limited Podsednik will be this spring. He is due in camp Wednesday morning and will have a checkup as soon as he arrives. The veteran speedster inked a minor league contract with Toronto last week that carries a $1 million big league salary.

Wed Feb 16 201121:24Podsednik's deal worth $1 million
Scott Podsednik can earn $1 million this season.
Podsednik inked a minor league contract with the Blue Jays on Wednesday, but it's a minor league contract that carries a $1 million salary for the time that Scotty is in the big leagues. The veteran outfielder has been a decently productive player for two straight seasons and should have no trouble sticking on the major league roster all year long. He'll play the role of part-time outfielder and part-time leadoff man.

Wed Feb 16 201116:02Blue Jays ink Podsednik to minors contract
Blue Jays signed OF Scott Podsednik to a minor league contract.
Podesdnik was hoping to cash in this winter on his productive 2010 campaign, but he drew very little interest throughout the course of the offseason and is just now latching on with the Blue Jays. The good news is that Toronto has playing time available in the outfield and a need for a leadoff man. The bad news is that he will probably be a part-time player, sharing at-bats with the likes of Juan Rivera, Rajai Davis and Travis Snider.

Thu Feb 10 201115:30Angels not in on free agent leadoff hitter
Angels general manager Tony Reagins said Thursday that the team is not currently discussing any free agent leadoff options.
The Angels have been linked to Scott Podsednik as a potential leadoff man, but they are apparently satisfied with their in-house options. As of now, the Angels are set to go with Vernon Wells, Peter Bourjos and Torii Hunter in the outfield, from left to right. If the Angels are truly out on Podsednik, look for Bobby Abreu, Erick Aybar and Maicer Izturis to all get looks out of the leadoff spot during spring training.

Sat Jan 22 201108:17Report: Angels still pursuing Podsednik
MLB Network Radio's Jim Bowden reports that the Angels are still pursuing Scott Podsednik.
Bad news for Peter Bourjos. If the Halos do add Podsednik, that would put him in left field, Vernon Wells in center and the speedy Bourjos on the bench. Pods is coming off a pair of solid seasons, hitting a combined .300 with 65 stolen bases. Landing on Mike Scioscia's run-happy squad would be a good thing for his fantasy value.

Thu Dec 23 201000:10Reds join hunt for free agent Scott Podsednik
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Reds have joined the hunt for free agent outfielder Scott Podsednik.
Podsednik, a left-handed batter, could platoon with right-handed slugger Jonny Gomes in left field and could bat leadoff on the days that he plays. It's not a bad fit, really, and the 34-year-old speedster isn't exactly in high demand. A quick one-year deal should do the trick if Cincy is truly interested. Podsednik hit .297/.342/.382 with 35 steals this past season.

Mon Dec 20 201017:24Report: Angels interested in Scott Podsednik
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Angels are showing interest in Scott Podsednik.
Not exactly what Angels fans were hoping for when the offseason began. Podsednik, who turns 35 in March, batted .297/.342/.382 between the Royals and Dodgers last season. While he stole 35 bases, he was also caught 15 times. According to Rosenthal, he would play left field and potentially lead off for Mike Scioscia's club.

Mon Dec 6 201023:22Dodgers narrowing search for left fielder
A source tells Tony Jackson of ESPN Los Angeles that the club has interest in Scott Podsednik, Matt Diaz and an unidentified "mystery player" for left field.
If Podsednik and Diaz are any indication, we shouldn't expect it to be a big name, or even a productive one, for that matter. Whoever the Dodgers end up signing for left field, they would likely be paired with a platoon partner.

Sun Dec 5 201010:28Dodgers still talking to Pods
Dodgers GM Ned Colletti said he remains in touch with free agent Scott Podsednik.
The Dodgers declined Pods' $2 million option for 2011 and then didn't offer him arbitration, but apparently they're still considering him as an option for left field. Podsednik is coming off a fine season that saw him bat .297/.342/.382 with 35 steals, but the Dodgers might be looking for more power from left field given that they ranked 27th in the league in home runs in 2010.

The 34-year-old outfielder batted .297/.342/.382 with six homers, 51 RBI and 35 stolen bases between the Royals and Dodgers this season. While his numbers were helpful from a fantasy perspective, he was barely above replacement-level in reality. It will be interesting to see if can get more than $2 million on the open market.

Scott Podsednik declined his $2 million option for 2011 and elected to become a free agent.
The Dodgers exercised the mutual option on Tuesday, but Podsednik would rather take his chances in the free agent waters. He will not receive a buyout. The 34-year-old outfielder batted .297/.342/.382 with six homers, 51 RBI and 35 stolen bases between the Royals and Dodgers this season. Dodgers exercise OF Scott Podsednik's $2 million option for 2011.
Podsednik delivered a .297 batting average, .342 on-base percentage, six homers, 51 RBI and 35 stolen bases in 50 attempts this year before having his season cut short by plantar fasciitis. The 34-year-old will play a similar role for the Dodgers next season and carries sneaky fantasy value.

Tue Sep 14 201020:47Podsednik shut down due to plantar fasciitis
Scott Podsednik is done for the season due to plantar fasciitis on his foot.
Dodgers manager Joe Torre told Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times that he would need to miss a couple weeks, but with less than three weeks left in the season, that leaves him very little time to return. Podsednik, 34, wraps up the season with a .297/.342/.382 batting line to go along with six homers, 51 RBI and 35 stolen bases in 50 attempts. His contract includes a $2 million option for 2011 or a $100,000 buyout.

Wed Sep 1 201018:23Dodgers' Podsednik goes hitless in loss
Scott Podsednik went 0-for-5 and struck out twice Wednesday in the loss to the Phillies.
Manny Ramirez he isn't. While his .281 average isn't too bad, Podsednik hasn't been very good for the Dodgers, and the team should consider tryng Jamey Carroll in left field with Rafael Furcal set to retun Friday.
Wed Aug 25 201015:57Dodgers place Podsednik and Blake on waivers
According to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times, the Dodgers have placed Scott Podsednik, Casey Blake and Jay Gibbons on waivers.
Looks like the Dodgers see the writing on the wall finally. Interesting that they just acquired Ted Lilly and Ryan Theriot as if they were contenders for the postseason, but they can still pull back any of the players they have placed on waivers. Most of these players would be backups on other teams, so a move would not be beneficial to their fantasy values.
