Thu May 19 201100:48Carl Pavano solid for seven innings
Carl Pavano had another nice outing Wednesday, yielding three runs -- one earned -- in seven innings against the A's.
Pavano has lowered his ERA from 6.64 to 5.30 over his last two starts. He's still not missing bats, but he is avoiding the home run ball and having a bit more luck with balls in play.

Sun May 8 201117:05Pavano lit up yet again in loss to BoSox
Carl Pavano got lit up again on Sunday, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in just five innings of Minnesota's loss to the Red Sox.
Pavano, now the owner of a 6.64 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, has allowed at least seven runs in four of his seven 2011 starts, and has struck out just 17 batters in 42 innings. He's not worth holding onto in mixed leagues.

Sun May 1 201117:49Pavano tagged for 12 hits in loss
Carl Pavano didn't have it on Sunday, surrendering 12 hits and seven runs (six earned) in 5 1/3 innings of a loss to the Royals.
He struck out none and walked none in seeing his ERA balloon to 5.84. It's beginning to look more and more like Pavano's excellent 2010 may have been a one-off. He'll get the Red Sox his next time out.

Wed Apr 27 201118:10Pavano pushed back a day due to the flu
Carl Pavano's next scheduled start has been pushed from Saturday to Sunday due to the flu.
The Twins are hoping that the extra day of rest will help Pavano regain some of his strength. He has posted a 5.12 ERA through his first five starts of 2011.

Sun Apr 24 201117:22Pavano improves to 2-2
Carl Pavano limited the Indians to six hits and three runs over seven innings on Sunday, improving to 2-2 on the season in Minnesota's 4-3 victory.
Today was a nice bounce-back outing for Pavano, who got lit up for eight hits and eight runs (seven earned) in 4 2/3 innings against the Orioles on Tuesday. His ERA is an uninspiring 5.12 through his first 31 2/3 innings of work, but Pavano has gone at least seven innings in three of his past four starts, and allowed three of fewer runs in three of his five outings this season. His ERA should steadily decrease until settling in somewhere in the mid-3.00s.

Tue Apr 19 201122:02Pavano gets drilled by the Orioles in loss
Carl Pavano got knocked around in his start on Tuesday, allowing eight hits and eight runs (seven earned) over 4 2/3 innings against the Orioles.
He struck out three and issued three walks. The damage could have been slightly worse, but skipper Ron Gardenhire left him in for a four-run fifth on a night when Pavano clearly didn't have it. The nightmare outing shoots the mustachioed right-handers ERA to 5.47.

Thu Apr 14 201121:58Carl Pavano terrific in no-decision
Carl Pavano tossed eight shutout innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out seven but leaving with a no-decision in the extra innings loss.
Pavano handed a 2-0 lead to Joe Nathan in the ninth, but Nathan couldn't close the door and neither could Matt Capps after the Twins took the lead again in the 10th. The right-hander has gone eight innings in each of his last two starts after a poor first outing of the season. He'll face the Orioles next.

Carl Pavano allowed just one run and four hits over eight innings Friday to beat the A's for his first win of the season.

Wed Apr 6 201120:16Carl Pavano pushed back to Friday
With Wednesday's rainout, Carl Pavano's start will be pushed back to Friday, with Francisco Liriano keeping his Thursday slot.
It's good news for Pavano owners, as his start will come at home against the A's instead of at Yankee Stadium. It's bad news, of course, for Liriano owners. A.J. Burnett will start Thursday for the Yankees, with Freddy Garcia getting skipped over.

Fri Apr 1 201122:35Pavano roughed up by Blue Jays
Carl Pavano got knocked around in his Opening Day start on Friday, allowing six hits and eight runs (seven earned) in four innings against the Blue Jays.
He struck out three, walked two and allowed three home runs, a nightmarish outing for a pitcher that allowed three home runs in two of his final three starts last season. Entering his age-35 campaign, Pavano is going to have to dig deep into his bag of tricks to equal the 3.75 ERA and 1.19 WHIP he posted in 2010.

Sun Mar 27 201117:00Twins' Pavano earns win over Yankees
Carl Pavano won Sunday despite allowing five runs -- four earned -- in six innings against the Yankees.
Robinson Cano homered for one of the 11 hits off Pavano. It was the first shaky outing of the spring for the veteran. He'll head into the regular-season opener against the Blue Jays with a fine 2.16 ERA.

Tue Mar 8 201115:56Pavano throws four shutout frames
Carl Pavano delivered four shutout innings Tuesday in the Twins' 5-2 loss to the Pirates.
Pavano did his part, allowing only two hits and fanning two batters in a quick and easy spring appearance. The veteran right-hander has looked equally as sharp in his previous two outings and will look to ride the early-spring groove into late March.

Sun Feb 27 201121:46Twins' Pavano goes two scoreless in win
Carl Pavano shut out the Red Sox for two innings in the Twins' victory 8-4 Sunday night.
Facing mostly regulars, Pavano allowed just a single to the seven batters he faced. The Twins continued to hold the Red Sox scoreless until Anthony Swarzak allowed three runs in the eighth, but they held on to win from there.
Wed Feb 23 201113:37Pavano named Twins' Opening Day starter
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has pegged Carl Pavano as his starting pitcher for Opening Day.
Gardenhire has been leaning in that direction for a few weeks now, but it's now unofficially official. Pavano weighed several offers as a free agent this winter, but ultimately returned to the Twins on a two-year, $16.5 million contract. The 35-year-old right-hander went 17-11 with a 3.75 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 32 starts in 2010.

Wed Jan 19 201119:07Twins finally reach agreement with Pavano
Twins signed RHP Carl Pavano to a two-year, $16.5 million contract.
The basic parameters of the deal were agreed to last week, but it took several more days to work out all of the financial terms. Pavano, 35, posted a strong 17-11 record last year with a 3.75 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 32 starts. If he can come close to those numbers in 2011 and again in 2012, it should turn out to be a fine deal. Pitching in Target Field should help that goal.

Wed Jan 19 201112:54Yanks considered 1-yr deal for Pavano
Sources tell Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com that the Yankees explored a one-year deal with Carl Pavano at a high salary.
Oh, it happened. And Pavano was receptive to the idea, even telling friends at one point that he intended to rejoin the team. Talks ultimately fizzled once the Twins guaranteed two years, an agreement which is expected to be finalized on Wednesday.

Tue Jan 18 201123:59Twins 'very close' to contract with Pavano
According to Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Twins are "very close" to a contract with Carl Pavano.
"I think we're in the home stretch here," Twins general manager Bill Smith said Tuesday, which essentially echoes everything we have heard recently. Pavano was seeking a three-year deal this winter, but we're expecting him to sign a two-year deal worth between $8-10 million per season.

Mon Jan 17 201114:47Twins' deal with Pavano coming Wednesday?
Joe Christensen of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune has heard that it could take until Wednesday before the Twins reach agreement with Carl Pavano.
It's believed that the two sides will eventually come to a two-year deal. The Twins are focusing on their arbitration-eligible players at the moment, according to Christensen, and will get around to working out the details with Pavano later in the week. That still leaves time for other clubs to jump in, but all is quiet at the moment and that may remain the case.

Fri Jan 14 201120:47Report: Carl Pavano nearing deal with Twins
SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Twins are "moving closer" to a deal with Carl Pavano.
Heyman says that the deal could happen any day. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported just over a week ago that Pavano was close to re-upping with the Twins on a two-year deal, and even though that proved not to be the case, it appears likely that Pavano will not get the three years he was seeking, unless it comes in the form of an option.
