Thu Jan 5 201212:08Hairston to make $1.1M in new deal with Mets
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Scott Hairston will make around $1.1 million in his new contract with the Mets.
Hairston made the same salary last season while batting .235/.303/.470 with seven homers, 24 RBI and a .773 OPS over 145 plate appearances. While the 31-year-old provides useful pop from the right side of the plate, he won't have much fantasy value on Terry Collins' bench.

Sat Sep 10 201115:18Scott Hairston unlikely to return this year
Scott Hairston (oblique) is unlikely to return this season.
After feeling discomfort while doing drills Thursday, Hairston tried to exercise on an elliptical machine Friday but had to step off after less than a minute. "I haven't had a pain-free day yet," Hairston said. "I've got to wait until that happens, but there's only so much time left." If he's indeed finished, he'll end the year with a .235/.303/.470 batting line with seven homers over 145 plate appearances this season.

Mets placed OF Scott Hairston on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 24, with a strained oblique.

Tue Aug 23 201122:23Scott Hairston will go on DL
Scott Hairston is headed to the disabled list with a strained ribcage.
Hairston suffered the injury in Tuesday's loss to the Phillies. With just over five weeks left in the season, it's possible this could be a season-ending injury for the outfielder, though the Mets haven't provided any word on how severe the ailment is.

Sun Jul 31 201117:08Scott Hairston has two-homer day
Scott Hairston hit a pair of solo home runs in New York's loss to the Nationals on Sunday.
He took Sean Burnett deep in the seventh before tying up a 2-1 game with a bomb off of Drew Storen in the ninth. A nice afternoon for the journeyman outfielder, but he's still a poor option in a majority of NL-only leagues.

Tue Jul 19 201117:23Hairston (shin) could pinch-hit Monday
Scott Hairston (shin) may be available to pinch-hit Tuesday night against the Cardinals.
Hairston suffered a left shin contusion when he fouled a ball off his leg in the first inning Monday night. "It's the top of his foot, where the shin meets the foot," said Mets manager Terry Collins. "It's that meat part in there that's swelled up pretty good. He told me he could probably pinch-hit. Hopefully if he gets on he could continue to run." Consider him day-to-day right now.

Scott Hairston was diagnosed with a left shin contusion.
Hairston suffered the injury when he fouled a ball off his left leg in the first inning. X-rays came back negative, but it's not clear if he'll need to miss any time. With Carlos Beltran also sidelined, the Mets may have to play short-handed in their outfield for the time being.

Sat Jul 16 201118:58Hairston homers, has five RBI in win Saturday
Scott Hairston went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a career-high five RBI in an 11-2 win over the Phillies on Saturday.
And wouldn't you know it, Hairston only started in right field because Carlos Beltran was unavailable with flu-like symptoms. He's now 8-for-20 (.400) with three homers and six RBI in his career against Cole Hamels. More importantly, he's now batting .258 with five homers and an .850 OPS over 89 at-bats this season. He could see an increase in playing time if and when Beltran is inevitably traded.

Sat Jul 9 201101:28Scott Hairston's homer keys Mets win
Pinch-hitter Scott Hairston homered off Brian Wilson in the top of the ninth to break a tie as the Mets beat the Giants 5-2 on Friday.
It was 2-2 when Hairston led off the frame with the homer. The Mets added two insurance runs after an Andres Torres error before Francisco Rodriguez shut down the Giants in the bottom of the ninth. Hairston now has four homers in 81 at-bats this season. He's done pretty well when given a rare chance to start, but the hit tonight was just his fourth in 25 at-bats as a pinch-hitter.

Fri Jul 8 201121:53Hairston could get a look at first base
Scott Hairston worked out at first base over the past two days.
Hairston has never started a professional game at first base, but he would give Mets manager Terry Collins a right-handed bat against tough southpaws. The 31-year-old has struggled to find playing time this season, so the added flexibility would help his chances of getting in the lineup more regularly.

Fri Jun 24 201116:04Hairston to DH Friday vs. Rangers
Scott Hairston will serve as the designated hitter Friday against the Rangers.
He's in there against the left-hander Matt Harrison. Some assumed Carlos Beltran would be the designated hitter, but he's making the start in right field. Look for Hairston to be in the lineup again Sunday against Derek Holland, another southpaw.

Thu Jun 16 201122:52Scott Hairston goes deep
Scott Hairston singled and belted a three-run shot in Thursday's loss to the Braves.
Hairston's bomb was the big blow in the game before Brooks Conrad's pinch-hit blast in the ninth tied things up. The outfielder has played sparingly this season but has done a fair job when given a shot, sporting a .271/.338/.475 batting line. Perhaps he's earned a little more playing time against lefties after tonight's showing.

Wed Apr 27 201114:13Hairston starting in center Wednesday
Scott Hairston will start in center field Wednesday against the Nationals.
Jason Pridie has started four games in center field since Angel Pagan went on the disabled list, but Mets manager Terry Collins is stacking the lineup with right-handed hitters against the southpaw Tom Gorzelanny. Mike Nickeas catches Wednesday while Justin Turner plays second base.

Sun Apr 24 201116:35Collins: Hairston dealing with stiff back
Scott Hairston has been bothered by a stiff back, according to Mets manager Terry Collins.
Hairston has started just one game in the last 10 days while battling soreness. He's batting just .179 for the Mets this season with a .579 OPS in 31 plate appearances.

Tue Apr 19 201116:14Hairston in Mets' lineup Tuesday vs. Astros
Scott Hairston is in the Mets' starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Astros.
Willie Harris was originally in the lineup, but apparently the Mets sent along the incorrect information. Hairston is 6-for-11 with two homers against Tuesday's starter Wandy Rodriguez.

Tue Apr 5 201113:43Hairston starting in LF against Phillies
Scott Hairston is starting in left field Tuesday against Phillies southpaw Cole Hamels.
Hairston, Willie Harris and Lucas Duda seem to be splitting left field duties with Jason Bay sidelined. Hairston posted a strong .294/.406/.672 batting line over 58 at-bats this spring but probably won't get enough regular playing time to be relevant in fantasy leagues.
