Wed May 9 2012 | 20:19 | Endy Chavez likely headed to DL |
Endy Chavez (intercostal) is expected to be placed on the disabled list. |
The Orioles are calling up Tommy Hunter to start Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader, and since he hasn't been down for 10 days, he can only replace an injured player. Chavez suffered the injury Tuesday. |

Sat Apr 28 2012 | 16:30 | Chavez (abdomen) MRI shows no damage |
An MRI taken recently Endy Chavez's sore abdomen showed no structural damage, though he will not be in the Orioles' lineup again on Saturday. |
Good news for Chavez, who's listed as day-to-day for now and will not need a stint on the disabled list. Ryan Flaherty is starting in right field Saturday vs. Oakland. |

Sun Apr 15 2012 | 12:20 | Chavez to start, bat leadoff Sunday |
Endy Chavez is batting leadoff for the Orioles on Sunday. |
This doesn't look to be a platoon situation, as Nolan Reimold will be given the day off along with Matt Wieters and J.J. Hardy. Working against Chavez is the fact that Reimold has a ''reverse split'' and can actually hit right-handers more effectively. |

Fri Mar 30 2012 | 16:16 | Endy Chavez reaches three times |
Endy Chavez reached all three times he was up Friday, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk. |
Nolan Reimold, meanwhile, was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. Expect Chavez to get a lot of playing time in left field early on. He could be a source of cheap steals in AL-only leagues. |

Thu Mar 29 2012 | 18:59 | Chavez (groin) to return Friday |
Endy Chavez (groin) is scheduled to return to the Orioles' Grapefruit League lineup on Friday. |
Chavez has been sidelined for about a week with a slight groin strain. But he should be fine for the start of the regular season if he makes it through Friday's game. |

Endy Chavez is day-to-day with a slight groin strain. |
If the strain is indeed slight, he should have no trouble being ready for Opening Day. Chavez could get most of the playing time in left field for the Orioles early on this season. |

Thu Mar 15 2012 | 16:10 | Orioles' Endy Chavez hits first homer |
Endy Chavez hit his first homer and singled in a losing cause Thursday against the Tigers. |
Chavez is hitting .421 to Nolan Reimold's .167 so far. Given that Chavez is the closest thing the Orioles have to a leadoff hitter with Brian Roberts out, there's a good chance he'll get a lot of playing time against righties initially, perhaps at Reimold's expense. |

Wed Mar 7 2012 | 16:15 | Endy Chavez reaches three times for O's |
Endy Chavez doubled, singled and walked Wednesday versus the Twins. |
Chavez shouldn't be a regular for the Orioles, but since he's the closest thing they have to a traditional leadoff man with Brian Roberts out, there's a good chance manager Buck Showalter will try to fit him in against most righties early on. That should give him some fantasy value in AL-only leagues, at least in April and maybe May. |

Sun Dec 18 2011 | 19:48 | Report: Chavez/Reimold to platoon in left? |
Britt Ghiroli speculates that Endy Chavez will "likely be" in a platoon with Nolan Reimold in left field. |
"Also gives (Dan) Duquette a backup for (Adam) Jones in CF," writes Ghiroli. Chavez, signed to a one-year contract on Sunday, should be on your radar in deeper AL-only leagues. The 33-year-old hit .301/.323/.426 with five homers, 27 RBI and 10 stolen bases over 274 plate appearances in 2011. While he isn't likely to duplicate that slash line, he'll probably log more at-bats in Baltimore and should swipe more bases. Keep an eye on Baltimore's left field position in camp. |

Sun Dec 18 2011 | 18:21 | Orioles ink OF Chavez to a minor league deal |
Orioles signed OF Endy Chavez to a minor league contract. |
It's a nice bargain signing by the O's. The 33-year-old batted .301/.323/.426 with five homers, 27 RBI, 10 stolen bases and a .749 OPS over 274 plate appearances with the Rangers this season while playing solid defense at all three outfield positions. Chavez seems to have a superb shot at making the team out of camp, backing up Nick Markakis, Adam Jones and Nolan Reimold. He could conceivably become relevant in AL-only leagues if one of that trio gets hurt in 2012 or if Reimold regresses. |

Tue Oct 11 2011 | 16:41 | Endy Chavez starting in left field in Game 3 |
Endy Chavez will start in left field in Game 3 of the ALCS against the Tigers on Tuesday night. |
A minor surprise, but Chavez does give the Rangers another left-handed bat against right-hander Doug Fister. The 33-year-old outfielder hasn't played so far during the postseason, but batted .301/.323/.426 with five homers, 10 stolen bases and a .749 OPS during the regular season and is regarded a skilled defender. |

Sat Aug 13 2011 | 00:53 | Endy Chavez goes 3-for-5, doubles twice |
Endy Chavez went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored Friday in the Rangers' 9-1 win over the A's. |
It was a real team effort for Texas: six of the Rangers' nine regulars had exactly one hit, seven scored exactly one run and eight drove in exactly one run. Chavez was the only player to score multiple runs. Mike Napoli was the lone player not to get an RBI; since one of the runs came on an error, there were only eight RBI for the team. |

Tue Aug 9 2011 | 23:37 | Chavez has a big day in victory |
Endy Chavez went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's victory against the Mariners. |
Since going 3-for-6 with three runs and three RBI in July 26's 20-6 win against the Twins, Chavez had collected just four hits in 29 at-bats. We won't hold a slump against him, because his .309/.335/.473 slash line with five homers and six steals in limited playing time (165 at-bats) has made him a marginal outfielder in AL-only leagues. |

Tue Jul 26 2011 | 06:04 | Endy Chavez has 3-hit day |
Hitting from the bottom of the lineup, Endy Chavez hit 3-for-6 with three runs and three RBI. |
All of his hits came in the first five innings, which is what can happen when your team scores 18 times during that span. Now hitting .336, Chavez is playing way above himself. So enjoy the ride. |

Wed Jul 20 2011 | 01:34 | Chavez has another big day in victory |
Endy Chavez went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's victory against the Angels. |
Chavez is now the owner of a ridiculous .347/.376/.551 triple slash line through his first 128 plate appearances this season and has four homers to go along with 15 RBI. Unfortunately, sparse playing time makes him a marginal outfielder in AL-only leagues. |

Mon Jul 4 2011 | 23:21 | Endy Chavez has huge night |
Endy Chavez homered, doubled and notched four RBI in Texas' 13-4 rout of the Orioles on Monday. |
Chavez is now the owner of an absurd .319/.361/.538 triple slash through his first 99 plate appearances this season, and has posted 12 extra-base hits to go along with 12 RBI. However, thanks to his sparse playing time, he's still a tenuous option in most AL-only leagues. |

Fri Jun 3 2011 | 11:48 | Endy Chavez likely to stick around |
Endy Chavez will most likely remain in the majors even after Julio Borbon comes off the disabled list next week. |
Chavez is batting .415 with two home runs and three stolen bases in just 41 at-bats since joining the Rangers on May 14, and has all but forced himself onto the roster. He isn't likely to play enough to warrant ownership in AL-only leagues, but still has the tools at age 33 to stick with the Rangers through season's end. |

Mon May 23 2011 | 17:51 | Chavez not placed on disabled list |
Updating a previous item, the Rangers have not placed Endy Chavez on the disabled list. |
It was announced earlier in the afternoon that Chavez was going on the disabled list with a hamstring strain, but they have apparently changed their minds. Now Chris Davis will be sent down to the minor leagues. |
