Sat Sep 10 202222:54Teoscar Hernandez Shifted To Restricted List
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez was placed on the restricted list Saturday. He was placed on the paternity list Wednesday but was shifted to the restricted list to receive an extra day off. The 29-year-old will be eligible to come off the restricted list on Sunday. He is slashing .263/.315/.476 with 20 home runs, 64 RBI, 54 runs, and six stolen bases over 445 plate appearances in 2022. He could return for the series finale against the Rangers and had collected a hit in seven of his last eight games before landing on the paternity list. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Hernandez once the Blue Jays outfielder is activated.

Wed Sep 7 202216:43Teoscar Hernandez Placed On Paternity List Wednesday
The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Teoscar Hernandez on the paternity list on Wednesday. In corresponding moves, the team recalled right-hander Zach Pop and catcher Gabriel Moreno from Triple-A Buffalo and optioned right-hander Mitch White to Buffalo in a corresponding move. Fantasy managers will now be without Hernandez for the next one to three games, so plan accordingly. Raimel Tapia is getting the start in right field and is hitting sixth on Wednesday against Baltimore Orioles right-hander Tyler Wells. Tapia could start in every game that Hernandez is out, but he's gone just 2-for-22 (.091) with no homers, one RBI, two runs scored and six strikeouts in seven games over the last two weeks.

Tue Aug 30 202216:34Teoscar Hernandez Back In The Lineup Tuesday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (foot) is back in right field and is hitting sixth on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs and right-hander Marcus Stroman. Hernandez has been bothered by a sore left foot of late, but he'll be back in there after sitting out the series opener on Monday. The 29-year-old Dominican should be rostered in all fantasy formats, but he's been on a bit of a cold streak in the month of August, going 19-for-83 (.229) with four home runs, 10 RBI, 11 runs scored and 31 strikeouts in 23 games. In 380 at-bats in 2022, Hernandez is slashing .261/.313/.471 with 18 home runs, 59 RBI, 51 runs scored and six stolen bases as an outfield regular in a strong Toronto lineup.

Mon Aug 29 202218:34Teoscar Hernandez Not Playing Versus Cubs
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Hernandez returned to the lineup on Sunday after missing the two games prior due to a left foot contusion. The assumption is that his absence is just rest and not his foot issue acting up. Regardless, Raimel Tapia will cover right field and bat eighth against right-hander Javier Assed on Monday. Fantasy managers will have to check back for another update on Hernandez.

Sun Aug 28 202211:08Teoscar Hernandez Returns Against Angels
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (foot) is back in right field and is hitting sixth on Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels and left-hander Tucker Davidson. Hernandez was forced from the series opener on Friday with a left foot contusion and he didn't play on Saturday, but he'll be back in there for the series finale. Fantasy managers will want to get him back into their starting lineups against the left-hander. He's hitting only .225 (18-for-80) with four home runs, 10 RBI, 11 runs scored and 30 strikeouts in 22 games in the month of August, but Hernandez has been solid overall in 2022 with a .260/.311/.427 slash line, 18 home runs, 59 RBI, 51 runs scored and six stolen bases in 377 at-bats.

Sat Aug 27 202212:04Teoscar Hernandez Out On Saturday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (foot) is out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels. Hernandez was forced to leave Friday's action early with a left foot contusion, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Jackie Bradley Jr. is starting in right field in his place and is batting ninth against Angels right-hander Shohei Ohtani. DFS gamers should be able to find much better outfield options than Bradley on Saturday. George Springer will also move to center field for the first time since returning from the injured list. Fantasy managers need to keep him in their lineups. In 10 games played this month, he's gone 18-for-36 (.500) with no homers, nine RBI and seven runs scored.

Fri Aug 26 202221:27Teoscar Hernandez Leaves With Foot Contusion Friday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez left Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels with a foot injury. Hernandez fouled a ball off of his foot during the game and was removed with what the team is calling a left foot contusion. He went 0-for-1 with a strikeout before departing and was replaced in the outfield by Raimel Tapia. Look for the Blue Jays to update Hernandez's status sometime after Friday's game concludes.

Sun Aug 21 202211:36Teoscar Hernandez Returns, George Springer Still Out
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (foot) is back in the starting lineup on Sunday against New York Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes, serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup. However, outfielder George Springer (knee) remains on the bench. Hernandez left the game early on Saturday after fouling a ball off his left foot, but he's back in there and should be back in starting fantasy lineups as well. The 29-year-old is hitting .265/.316/.487 with an .804 OPS, 18 homers, 58 RBI, 49 runs and six stolen bases on the season. Springer is missing his third straight game after going 5-for-5 on Thursday. However, he could return as soon as Monday. Jackie Bradley Jr. is in center field and hitting ninth against Cortes.

Sat Aug 20 202218:08Teoscar Hernandez Leaves Game After Fouling Ball Off Foot
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez left Saturday's game against the New York Yankees after fouling a ball off his left foot. Hernandez went for X-rays after the game and they came back negative, which is a good sign. He did say that he was still feeling some pain in his foot, so the Blue Jays will likely see how he feels tomorrow before making a lineup decision. The 29-year-old stud has looked like his usual self since his month-long slump back in May, and now has a solid fantasy line with a .265 AVG, 49 R, 58 RBI, 18 HR, and 6 SB over 356 AB. Fantasy managers in daily lineup leagues will want to be on alert tomorrow morning when the Blue Jays submit their lineup and get Hernandez back in if he plays.

Wed Jul 13 202223:46Teoscar Hernandez Blasts Two Homers
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez put on a show during Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 29-year-old outfielder blasted two home runs and knocked in four runs during the 8-2 victory. This marks his first multi-homer game of the season. Hernandez struggled to do anything with the bat earlier in the season. Now, Hernandez is hitting .316 with nine homers, 12 doubles and 28 RBI in 40 games since June 1. Fantasy managers should check the waiver wire in case Hernandez is somehow still available.

Wed Jun 29 202216:01Teoscar Hernandez Getting A Breather On Wednesday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against right-hander Nick Pivetta and the Boston Red Sox. Raimel Tapia will be covering right field for the game. Hernandez's bat has come alive in a big way this month. He's slashing .314/.346/.569 with five home runs, 18 RBI and 16 runs across June and he's notched multi-hit efforts in two straight outings. Hernandez has been primarily hitting fifth in the lineup lately and should be back in or around that slot for Thursday's series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Thu Jun 16 202213:45Teoscar Hernandez Homers, Swipes A Bag Wednesday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez provided a home run and a steal in a 7-6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday. Hernandez went 2-for-4 with the two-run shot. With just four home runs on the season, Hernandez's power output has been a major disappointment, but he's slashing .383/.431/.633 with 10 runs scored and 12 RBI in his last 15 games, so the summer months could bring plenty of offense for the slugger. The home runs seem bound to increase after he produced 32 last season, and fantasy managers should remain patient and/or buy low if they can.

Wed Jun 8 202212:05Teoscar Hernandez Absent From Wednesday's Lineup
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against right-hander Brady Singer and the Kansas City Royals. Raimel Tapia will be covering right field for the game. Hernandez has been heating up at the plate lately. Over seven games in June, he's slashing .375/.444/.667 with one home run, one triple and three doubles. Injuries have held the 29-year-old to just 32 games so far this season. He has a season-long slash line of .223/.288/.372 to go along with three home runs, two stolen bases, 17 RBI and 13 runs.

Thu May 26 202220:46Teoscar Hernandez Not Starting Thursday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is not in the starting lineup against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night. Hernandez is just 6-for-60 with a homer, five RBI, two walks and 18 strikeouts in 15 games in the month of May to drop his season line to a very disappointing .152/.212/.253 with two home runs, eight RBI, five runs scored and one stolen base in 85 plate appearances. Fantasy managers may want to keep him benched until the 29-year-old can snap out of his season-long funk. Raimel Tapia is moving to right field and will bat sixth, while Cavan Biggio returns to the lineup at first base while hitting ninth against Angels right-hander Shohei Ohtani. Neither Tapia nor Biggio are particularly attractive to DFS gamers on Thursday night against Ohtani.

Thu May 26 202209:58Teoscar Hernandez Slashing .100/.129/.167 In May
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez has yet to settle in offensively this season and he's been especially cold at the plate in May. Over 15 games this month, he's slashing .100/.129/.167 with one home run, one double and 18 strikeouts to go along with just two walks. The Blue Jays have a stacked lineup, but many of the team's primary hitters have been struggling out of the gate alongside Hernandez. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has just two home runs this month and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. has been struggling to the point of losing playing time. We encourage patience with Hernandez, who has been a borderline elite fantasy producer over the last two years. His 91.9 mph average exit velocity is right where it was last year (91.8 mph). He just has a few other metrics that are lagging, like his 6.9 degree average launch angle and his 7.3% barrel rate.

Wed May 18 202209:53Teoscar Hernandez Hitless Over Last Three Games
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez has been struggling at the plate since his activation from the injured list on May 7. Over nine games this month, he's slashing .111/.111/.194 with 13 strikeouts, no walks and only one extra-base hit, a home run. He's gone 0-for-12 across his last three games. The 29-year-old likely just needs some more time to settle in this year. He's only recorded two barrels across 36 batted ball events, but his 92.9 mph average exit velocity is encouraging as it's a slight increase from last year's average (91.8 mph).

Sun May 8 202217:17Teoscar Hernandez Reinstated From Injured List Saturday
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday for the team's doubleheader against the Guardians. He had been dealing with a left oblique strain for the past three weeks. Hernandez played in one of the games Saturday, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts, but went 1-for-4 with a single, two RBI, and two strikeouts in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Guardians. The 29-year-old was a solid fantasy contributor in power and speed in 2021, slashing .296/.346/.524 with 32 home runs, 116 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. He should continue to be a higher-end fantasy option this season if he can stay healthy.

Thu May 5 202216:15Teoscar Hernandez To Remain At Single-A Thursday
Updating a previous report, Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (oblique) will not be activated from the injured list prior to Thursday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. He will be playing another rehab game at Single-A Dunedin on Thursday. The expectation is still that he will return to the team during its current series against the Guardians, but we'll have to wait at least another day for him to arrive. Blue Jays writer Arden Zwelling notes that Hernandez already has a locker set up for him in the visitor's clubhouse at Cleveland's Progressive Field.

Tue May 3 202223:41Teoscar Hernandez Homers, Doubles In First Rehab Game
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez (oblique) went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and a run scored in his first minor league rehab game with Single-A Dunedin on Tuesday. Hernandez played eight innings in right field. The 29-year-old has been out of action since April 13 with a left oblique strain, but he could return to the Jays lineup later this week if he can avoid setbacks on his rehab assignment. Toronto begins a series against the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday. Before his injury, Hernandez had six hits in his first 19 at-bats with a homer, three RBI and three runs scored in six games. He will return to everyday outfield duties for the Jays when he comes off the injured list.
