Doc Rivers doesn't expect to have Mickael Pietrus (concussion) in the lineup before the playoffs begin.

Pietrus hopes to play as soon as this week, but players are often overly optimistic when it comes to their return dates, and he'll need to pass strict concussion-testing. Fantasy owners should write him off.

Pietrus is out indefinitely after a scary fall that had him carted off on a stretcher. The swingman is still suffering from concussion symptoms at this time, and baseline testing can't start until he's symptom-free. Avery Bradley and Keyon Dooling will both likely continue to see increased time with Pietrus sidelined.

Pietrus missed Friday's game due to a knee injury that has been bothering him for the majority of the season, but it sounds like he's going to give it a go today.

Pietrus' knee has flared up at different junctures this season and he's dealing with it once again. He's been an integral part of Boston's rotation, and his absence would likely result in heavier minutes for both Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.

Michael Pietrus got the start in place of Ray Allen (flu) on Friday night, and was able to chip in 11 points and five rebounds.

Pietrus will head back to the bench when Allen returns, and his minutes are simply too sporadic to allow fantasy owners to trust him. He shouldn't be owned except in the deepest of leagues.

The fact that Pietrus started at power forward tonight should tell you everything you need to know about the C's right now: they are beat up. He played a whopping 43 minutes, as well. Pietrus value depends on Boston's health, as he has produced whenever forced into action. However, if the team ever gets healthy, he won't have a big enough role to be worth a roster spot in most leagues. But, that's a big "if."

If guys like Jermaine O'Neal (wrist) and Chris Wilcox (thigh) cannot go, it won't hurt matters, either.

Pietrus missed all three of his shot attempts, and his value is limited to times that the Celtics have suffered two or more injuries in their backcourt. In those moments, he has actually been a nice spot-play this season.

As expected, Mickael Pietrus will be active for Wednesday's game vs. Detroit.
