Sat Jul 20 201313:05Andrew Bynum will start at center if healthy
Cavs coach Mike Brown said Andrew Bynum will start at center if he's healthy.
If he's healthy should be Bynum's middle name at this point. Bynum said at his introductory news conference that he'll be ready to go for training camp and his goal is to play a full season at an All-Star level. Bynum certainly has the talent to do that, but we have major reservations about his knees. It should be noted Brown was Bynum's coach during his best season as a pro in 2011-12, which is also the last time he played anything close to a full season.

Fri Jul 19 201311:43Bynum says work ethic questions are nonsense
Andrew Bynum said any questions about his work ethic are nonsense.
Issues with Bynum's work ethic and desire to be great go all the way back to his time with the Lakers and, along with his creaky knees, are part of the reason why he's basically operating on a show-me contract. Bynum said he was surprised he didn't play in a single game last season but said he wants to get back to being an All-Star and believes the Cavs are "definitely a playoff team." Sounds like a good introduction to Cleveland, but time will tell if the words hold up.

Fri Jul 19 201309:48Andrew Bynum to stay in Cleveland for summer
Andrew Bynum will spend the rest of the summer in Cleveland to complete any rehab he might have left.
Bynum and his agent swear the big man is healthy, but we're sure the Cavs doctors will want to guide his return to the court slowly, but surely. Bynum is scheduled to be introduced Friday morning, so we'll finally get to hear from the man himself on his injuries, signing with the Cavs and what he expects this season.

Wed Jul 17 201319:04Andrew Bynum's presser pushed back
Andrew Bynum's press conference to announce his signing with the Cavaliers has been pushed back and will not happen on Thursday as originally planned.
There don't appear to be any major problems concerning Bynum's move to the Cavs, but it sounds like the proper paperwork won't be completed in time for a Thursday announcement. While Bynum's camp says he's healthy and ready to go, the fact they can't even get the press conference right could be an ominous sign.

Thu Jul 11 201317:20Agent says Bynum healthy, aiming for All-Star
Andrew Bynum's agent, David Lee, says his client's knees are healthy and Bynum is planning to have an All-Star season.
This is the same agent who admitted Bynum is at least 15 pounds overweight and hasn't played basketball in a while. There was even a report that other players on the 76ers told their agent that Bynum couldn't do anything physically. A Cavs executive also told beat writer Jason Lloyd that both of Bynum's knees are "not good." This deal could work out in the end, but it's certainly not getting off to a good start.

Thu Jul 11 201310:56Andrew Bynum gained 15 pounds since March
Andrew Bynum gained 15 points since his knee surgery in March and hasn't picked up a ball in some time, according to his agent David Lee.
"There was no reason to have him work out," Lee said. "His skill level's not in question, so there's no reason to work out. The reality is he has not picked up the ball in some time and he has to get his weight down. He's got to lose probably about 15 pounds, which is not a big deal. But to get on the floor you've got to reduce your weight, otherwise you risk injury." This isn't the first thing that Cavs fans will want to hear about their new center. The Cavs got Bynum for a bit of a bargain at $6 million guaranteed, but there is a ton of risk that comes with him. He expects to be ready for training camp.

Wed Jul 10 201320:07Andrew Bynum decides to join the Cavaliers
Andrew Bynum has decided to join the Cleveland Cavaliers.
His deal with the Cavs will include $6 million of $12 million guaranteed in the first year, then there will be a team option of $12.5 million for 2014-15. It's a decent reward-to-risk ratio for the Cavs with the deal, which is saying something since Bynum didn't work out for teams during this free agency period. He will be reunited with coach Mike Brown from their Laker days and the Cavs have a pretty impressive roster compared to last season with Bynum, Anthony Bennett, Jarrett Jack and Earl Clark. Of course, there will be tremendous concern about how their team needs to stay healthy. As for fantasy, if you're willing to gamble, Bynum could pay dividends in the late-middle rounds of drafts.

Wed Jul 10 201317:44Report: Bynum's CLE offer light on guarantees
The Cavs' two-year, $24 million offer only contains $6 million in guarantees in the first season, sources tell ESPN's Marc Stein.
The deal basically breaks down into two one-year, $12 million contracts, with the second year being a team option. According to Stein, Bynum's first year would feature lots of incentives, but he also points out it's still Bynum's highest offer to this point. Bynum is also considering the Hawks and Mavs, who some Cavs officials reportedly believe are the favorites to land Bynum.

Wed Jul 10 201315:18Mavs meet with Andrew Bynum on Wednesday
The Mavs met with Andrew Bynum on Wednesday but did not work him out.
Bynum's visit with Dallas followed meetings with the Hawks and Cavs, who have a standing offer on the table that's probably the best Bynum will get. Mavs GM Donnie Nelson was predictably tight-lipped about the team's meeting with Bynum. All Nelson would acknowledge was the parties had lunch and Bynum met with the team's doctors. Bynum's agent admitted Tuesday he has no real idea when Bynum will decide on his next team.

Tue Jul 9 201320:27Andrew Bynum's agent not sure of timeline
Andrew Bynum's agent, David Lee, says he's not sure when his client will pick a team.
Bynum met with the Hawks on Tuesday and is slated to meet with the Mavs later this week. He also has a two-year, $24 million offer on the table from the Cavs, although the second year is a team option. Cleveland reportedly is pushing Bynum to make a decision, but it doesn't sound like Lee has any idea when that will happen. It will be interesting to see if Cleveland moves on while Bynum continues other options.

Tue Jul 9 201301:13Cavs pressing Bynum with two-year, $24M offer
The Cavs are pushing Andrew Bynum to either accept or reject a two-year, $24 million offer laden with incentives.
The Cavs have begun to engage Andrei Kirilenko and Elton Brand in deals that could cause them to move on, and surely this article by Adrian Wojnarowski is one way for them to let Bynum know about that. The incentives appear to be reasonable items relating to games played and minutes, but the takeaway here is that the Cavs want to put him on a decision while Bynum and his agents are trying to find a one-year big money deal.

Mon Jul 8 201315:23Bynum has meetings w/ Cavs, Mavs and Hawks
In addition to meeting with the Cavaliers on Monday, Andrew Bynum has scheduled face-to-face meetings with the Hawks and Mavericks this week.
The Cavs aren't expected to offer more than a one-year contract, which could give an edge to Atlanta or Dallas if they're willing to take a multi-year gamble on the former All-Star center. The Mavs would likely have to unload Shawn Marion to make Bynum a competitive offer, however, and they don't seem inclined to do so.

Mon Jul 8 201312:30Cavs scheduled to meet with Andrew Bynum
Andrew Bynum (knee) is scheduled to be in Cleveland on Monday for a face-to-face sitdown.
The Cavs and Mavs are expected to be the frontrunners for the injured Bynum. He is not going to workout for teams, which could limit his chances to get a multi-year deal. Cleveland already made a big signing with Jarrett Jack on Sunday and adding Bynum could make them a playoff team in the Eastern Conference. Obviously, the amount of risk associated with Bynum suggests he won't be getting a big contract.

Sun Jul 7 201323:10Cavs, Mavs 'prime' suitors for Andrew Bynum
The Cavaliers and Mavericks are "prime" suitors for free agent Andrew Bynum, according to ESPN.com, and the Hawks have also expressed interest.
The Mavericks are "actively pursuing" Bynum, but they're simultaneously conducting "exhaustive" research into the history and health of his knees, which cost him the entire 2012-13 season. The Cavs aren't expected to offer more than a one-year deal, but it would be lucrative and could allow Bynum to re-establish his value and earn a hefty long-term deal next summer.

Sun Jul 7 201309:05Hawks have considered Andrew Bynum
The Hawks have "given center Andrew Bynum some thought" in free agency, according to ESPN.com, but Monta Ellis is their priority.
The Hawks have enough flexibility in their roster to accomodate Bynum, but there are no indications that they are seriously pursuing him. The Mavericks, however, are reportedly very active in their pursuit of Bynum.

Sat Jul 6 201310:12Report: Mavericks are pursuing Andrew Bynum
ESPN's Marc Stein says the Mavericks interest in free agent C Andrew Bynum is "legit" and adds "they ARE pursuing him."
After losing out on Dwight Howard, the Mavs are turning to Plan B. Bynum is a more than fine backup option if healthy, but no one truly knows if he is. He didn't play in a single game last year due to chronic knee issues and strangely said he won't work out for interested teams this summer. The Mavs' medical staff better make a more thorough evaluation than the Sixers' staff did.

Mon Jul 1 201310:22Mavericks among teams contacting Andrew Bynum
The Mavericks and "several other teams" have been in touch with Andrew Bynum's agent.
The unrestriced free agent would serve as a backup plan for the Mavericks in the event the pursuit of Dwight Howard falls through. Bynum won't be working out for the Mavericks or any other team and after not playing a single game last year, so he's not going to be any team's top priority. He and his agent will likely let other dominoes fall before trying to find the best match.

Mon Jul 1 201309:02Andrew Bynum won't work out as a free agent
Unrestricted free agent Andrew Bynum will not work out for teams this summer.
Bynum's agent David Lee said there are a "half dozen teams" interested and an MRI will be given to those teams along with other medical reports. Bynum didn't play a single minute last season after major knee issues, so it's understandable that he doesn't want to feel pressured to play. Bynum was expected to be a max-deal player at this time last year, but the health concern may have changed that. He's not expected to be back with the Sixers.

Sun Jun 30 201314:42Blazers not interested in Andrew Bynum
Updating a previous item, the Blazers are not interested in Andrew Bynum, according to GM Neil Olshey.
This makes much more sense. As alluded to earlier, Portland's fan base would be in a bit of an uproar after the drama with Greg Oden's knee troubles. Bynum will latch on with some team ready to take a chance, but it won't be the Blazers.

Sun Jun 30 201314:22Blazers and Cavs interested in Andrew Bynum
The Blazers and Cavs are interested in pursuing Andrew Bynum during free agency.
One would think that the Blazers would be a bit apprehensive in going after a big man with major knee issues after the Greg Oden fiasco, but if the price is right, it's not a bad idea. Cleveland has a nice young group on the perimeter and owner Dan Gilbert might not be afraid to take a chance to solidify their interior presence. Cleveland was 29th in field goal shooting last season, which is a strength of Bynum's game. The Sixers are extremely unlikely to bring Bynum back and seem willing to chalk this up as a mistake.
