Fri Jun 28 201309:42Andrew Bynum not expected back w/ Sixers
Andrew Bynum is not expected to be re-signed by the Sixers after the team traded for Nerlens Noel.
We didn't expect Bynum back in Philadelphia after his disaster of a season this year, and we have a strong inclination that Bynum wouldn't have been back regardless of what the Sixers did on draft night. Bynum will be one of the more fascinating free agent cases to follow considering all of the uncertainties regarding his health.

Tue Jun 25 201309:11Andrew Bynum to start workouts next week
Andrew Bynum (knees) has completed his rehab from season-ending surgery and will resume basketball workouts next week.
There is "not a concern in the world" about Bynum's availability for training camp according to his agent, but that's the same thing we heard last year before the big man missed the entire season. Bynum has had no conversations with the Sixers, and a reunion between the two sides seems extremely unlikely.

Sat May 18 201314:18NBA GM: Bynum won't get more than one year
An NBA GM said that Andrew Bynum won't get more than a one-year deal.
This isn't exactly earth-shattering news on Bynum and conventional wisdom would suggest that most teams would be extremely apprehensive to sign him to a multi-year contract. He missed every game this year and over the previous five seasons, Bynum missed 26.0 games per season. A 25-year-old center already having serious durability issues is going to make it tough on his agent to get leverage in contract negotiations.

Wed May 15 201308:20New Sixers GM: Bynum trade was 'a failure'
New Sixers GM Sam Hinkie said it's fair to label the Andrew Bynum trade as "a failure."
Between Hinkie's statement that he views Bynum as just another free agent and calling the trade to bring him to the team "a failure," we just can't imagine any way the big man returns to the Sixers. If he winds up with another team, Bynum's career in Philadelphia will have lasted just one season and resulted in zero games played.

Tue May 14 201316:53New Sixers GM sees Bynum as just another FA
New Sixers GM Sam Hinkie said he sees Andrew Bynum as just another free agent.
In theory, unrestricted free agents aren't property of any team. But the Sixers do have exclusive negotiating rights with Bynum until July 1 and they can pay him more than anyone else thanks to his Bird Rights. Still, we fully expect Bynum to test the market and land with the highest bidder. It's unclear how high that bid will be considering he played zero minutes this season.

Thu Apr 18 201314:48Owner says Sixers 'haven't ruled out' Bynum
Sixers owner Josh Harris says the team hasn't ruled out re-signing Andrew Bynum.
The full quote from Harris is a bit more damning. "'I'm not saying we're going to bring him back. I'm saying we haven't ruled it out," Harris told the media during exit day Thursday. That doesn't exactly sound like the strongest vote of confidence for Bynum's future in Philly. Bynum's camp has seemingly flip-flopped their stance, with Bynum saying there will be no discount for the Sixers and his agent saying Bynum hasn't ruled out re-signing. Bynum is immensely talented, but he also didn't play a single game this season because of a potentially degenerative knee issue. Safe to say, it'll be an interesting summer for Bynum and the Sixers.

Thu Apr 4 201308:27Bynum hasn't ruled out re-signing w/ Sixers
Andrew Bynum's agent said that his client hasn't ruled out re-signing with the Sixers.
It's getting hard to tell whether Bynum is purposely toying with Sixers fans at this point. This comes on the heels of a report that Bynum won't give the team a discount in free agency, and it's pretty interesting to see a guy who hasn't played basketball this season and has no timetable to do so make contract demands for the following year. Bynum's agent said "I still feel like the ball is in their court," which is similar to what he said when Bynum was with the Lakers. As for Bynum, he famously remarked there is a bank in every city, so we have a strong feeling he'll go to the highest bidder. There are zero guarantees with Bynum's health, but he's two weeks into his rehab and hasn't experienced any pain or swelling in his knees.

Mon Apr 1 201308:37Andrew Bynum won't give Sixers discount
A source told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Andrew Bynum will not give the Sixers a discount in free agency.
Isn't that nice? The Sixers paid Bynum over $16 million this season to never play a game, but apparently the big man feels that he owes the franchise nothing. He will have at least a handful of suitors in free agency and how his next contract is structured should be extremely interesting. The Sixers maintain interest in re-signing him.

Tue Mar 26 201315:45Andrew Bynum will be on crutches for 6 weeks
Andrew Bynum (knee surgeries) will be on crutches for six weeks.
Most athletes can return to action following a simple scope in 2-3 weeks. At this point, Bynum is not most athletes. He's previously had major surgeries to repair a dislocated kneecap, torn cartilage, sustained bone bruises and underwent experimental procedures in Germany. Bynum carries a truck full of red flags as he heads into unrestricted free agency.

Thu Mar 21 201308:02Andrew Bynum has successful knee surgery
Andrew Bynum underwent successful knee surgery.
Bynum is out for the season and will enter free agency after not having played a single second in his first season with the Sixers. Because he's still young and can be a force when healthy, he'll garner plenty of interest on the open market, but it will certainly be interesting to see what kind of contracts he's offered.

Tue Mar 19 201314:42Andrew Bynum's surgery is arthroscopic
The dual knee surgeries Andrew Bynum is undergoing Tuesday are arthroscopic.
When looked at in a vacuum, an arthroscopic procedure is not serious. It's just a clean-out designed to alleviate pain and swelling. But when taken in the context of Bynum's knee history, the scopes are significant. He's previously had major surgeries to repair a dislocated kneecap and torn cartilage, and then sustained a bone bruise this season. Any team signing Bynum as a free agent this summer will be taking a monumental risk. The Sixers paid him $16.5 million in 2012-13 and he played zero minutes.

Mon Mar 18 201319:50Bynum to have season-ending knee surgeries
Andrew Bynum will have season-ending surgery on both of his knees according to multiple reports.
This could very well be the end of his chapter in Philly, and in all reality the rest of his career playing basketball should be a question mark. His knees have serious issues that don't exactly go away for men of his size, and according to many sources with knowledge of his mindset his commitment to the game itself just isn't there. We'll wish him the best of luck getting his mind and body right but we're not betting on either to happen.

Thu Mar 14 201308:34Sixers Thorn calls Bynum situation 'bizarre'
Sixers president Rod Thorn called Andrew Bynum's injury situation "bizarre."
It seems like Bynum is losing support within the Sixers organization pretty quickly as people are tired of waiting on him to heal. Thorn acknowledged that a portion of Bynum's salary would be paid by insurance, but his inability to get on the court has left a sour taste in the mouth of many. Thorn did say that Bynum has worked "very hard," but he remains out indefinitely and is still considering surgery.

Tue Mar 12 201309:00Andrew Bynum (knee) still visiting doctors
Andrew Bynum (knee) is still visiting doctors to "best attempt to resolve his knee troubles," according to a Sixers team spokesperson.
The fact that Bynum doesn't have an idea of how to solve his knee issues at this point in the season indicates that not only is he highly unlikely to play this season, but also that his knee issues are anything but a thing of the past. Bynum hasn't spoken to the media in almost two weeks, and he already admitted there is no surgical procedure that would guarantee his knees be pain-free.

Wed Mar 6 201308:48No information from Bynum's doctor visit
The Sixers don't have any new information on Andrew Bynum (knees), who saw Dr. David Altchek on Tuesday in New York.
"It's a late appointment," GM Tony DiLeo said when asked why there was no information available. "I think we're all trying to gather information and see what the best course of action is," he added. Bynum remains out indefinitely and is a long shot to play this year.

Tue Mar 5 201308:27Sixers CEO opens up on Andrew Bynum's knee
Sixers CEO Adam Aron opened up about Andrew Bynum's (knee) recovery, and admitted that it's very possible Bynum doesn't play a single game this season.
"This is a move that should have worked," Aron said. The really troubling quote from Aron? "I can't get into his exact medical condition. but I can say this, which is obvious to all of us: He's had cartilage problems. It's March. He's still not playing. He hasn't played basketball since last May. Clearly, Andrew is dealing with some knee problems that have prevented him from playing in the NBA." Aron added that four doctors cleared the trade in August, and six doctors have been actively treating and examining Bynum throughout the season. Aron said a decision will be made on Bynum's future in the offseason after the team has "more information" regarding Bynum's knee.

Mon Mar 4 201307:53GM DiLeo: Andrew Bynum considering surgery
GM Tony DiLeo said that Andrew Bynum "is considering" arthroscopic knee surgery.
This is confirmation from a couple of previous reports that Bynum was considering yet another procedure on his troublesome knee. If he goes under the knife, Bynum will go through the entire season without ever playing a game for the Sixers. Still just 25 years old, Bynum's probably going to battle knee issues his entire career and will be looking for a huge payday as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. The fact that he's having cartilage issues this early in his career is extremely troubling as that's not something that will go away any time soon.

Sun Mar 3 201317:08DiLeo confirms surgery is an option for Bynum
Sixers GM Tony DiLeo confirmed that surgery is still an option for Andrew Bynum (knee).
The news just keeps getting worse for Bynum and his knee woes have been taxing on the entire Philadelphia organization. His knee swelled up on him in practice and the injury red flag has grown to massive size. He'll have a tough time getting the money he wants for a new contract and receiving a max deal looks like it has gone out the window.
