Thu Oct 18 201214:05Ronnie Brewer does not scrimmage Thursday
Updating a previous item, Ronnie Brewer did not scrimmage on Thursday and he has yet to go through any contact drills.
Mike Woodson confirmed that Brewer will not travel on the upcoming three-game road trip, and he's not quite as far along as had been portrayed previously. He's got a little less than two weeks to prepare for the regular season, where he'll be expected to serve as the starting shooting guard to begin the year. If he's not ready, Mychel Thompson or James White would likely be in the starting five on opening night.

Thu Oct 18 201208:46Ronnie Brewer expected to scrimmage Thursday
Ronnie Brewer (knee) is expected to scrimmage on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's session.
Brewer practiced on Wednesday, and although he wanted to scrimmage, the coaches and training staff want him to take it slowly. The idea is for Brewer to be able to play on the upcoming three-game road trip, but the Knicks will be happy as long as he's ready for opening night. His health will be especially important if J.R. Smith (Achilles) is sidelined for an extended period.

Wed Oct 17 201209:20Ronnie Brewer (knee) to practice on Wednesday
Ronnie Brewer (knee) is expected to practice on Wednesday.
How much he'll practice is to be determined, but it's encouraging that Brewer will be able to get back onto the court on Wednesday. He's expected to serve as the team's starting SG on opening night so long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, and his recovery from meniscus surgery has gone as anticipated to date.

Tue Oct 16 201213:13Ronnie Brewer (knee) could practice this week
Ronnie Brewer (knee) could practice as early as this week.
Brewer, if he's ready to resume full activity, would have two weeks to prepare for opening night, and that should give him enough time to solidify a role in the starting five. With his main competition James White and Mychel Thompson with Iman Shumpert (knee surgery) sidelined, it would be a surprise to see a healthy Brewer coming off the bench once the regular season begins.

Mon Oct 15 201208:59Ronnie Brewer to be evaluated this week
Ronnie Brewer (knee surgery) is expected to be evaluated this week.
Brewer has repeatedly said that he'd be ready for opening night, but as of last week, the swingman still wasn't running at full speed. If healthy enough to play in the season opener, Brewer should get the starting nod ahead of both James White and Mychel Thompson. However, it doesn't sound as if Brewer is out of the woods just yet.

Thu Oct 11 201213:41Ronnie Brewer still not running at full speed
Ronnie Brewer was hoping to be back on the court from knee surgery next week, but is still not running at full speed.
With J.R. Smith slated to come off the bench, James White or Mychel Thompson will likely start at shooting guard for the Knicks. And it sounds like Brewer is going to be very iffy for the season opener. If healthy, Brewer would likely have already been penciled in to start for the Knicks.

Mon Oct 1 201210:28Brewer not cleared for basketball activities
Ronnie Brewer (knee surgery) has not been cleared for basketball-related activities.
Brewer previously vowed to be ready for the regular season opener, and although he hasn't had a setback of any kind, the free-agent signing hasn't been cleared to ramp up his rehab quite yet. As of now, Brewer is still targeting a return on November 1 against the Nets.

Sat Sep 29 201214:36Ronnie Brewer (knee) targeting opening night
Ronnie Brewer (knee surgery) expects to be ready for the Knicks' season opener on Nov. 1.
It's unclear how much Brewer will be able to participate in training camp and the preseason, but he has added motivation thanks to a SG position battle with J.R. Smith. At the moment it's unclear who coach Mike Woodson intends to start at SG, and fantasy owners shouldn't forget about the disruptive mid-season return of Iman Shumpert.

Tue Sep 11 201216:36Ronnie Brewer (knee) aiming for season opener
Ronnie Brewer (knee surgery) is "confident" that he'll return within the six-week timetable for his rehab, giving him two weeks to prepare for the Knicks' season opener.
Brewer's optimism isn't exactly news, but it's worth remembering that he could be healthy for the start of the season -- in other words, J.R. Smith will still have competition for SG minutes, even while Iman Shumpert (knee) is out of the equation.

Fri Sep 7 201213:36Ronnie Brewer (meniscus tear) out six weeks
Ronnie Brewer (knee) will be out six weeks following surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
Ouch. It's a tough blow to New York's perimeter defense with Iman Shumpert (knee) sidelined to begin the season as well, and it puts even more pressure on J.R. Smith to deliver in extended minutes at SG. Needless to say, this is probably not how Brewer envisioned beginning his tenure as a member of the Knicks.

Tue Jul 24 201212:06Knicks, Ronnie Brewer agree to one-year deal
The Knicks have signed unrestricted FA Ronnie Brewer to a one-year contract, a source tells David Aldridge.
Brewer was known to be on Minnesota's radar after the T-Wolves missed out on Courtney Lee, but the swingman has instead decided to sign with the Knicks. He'll be a solid fit on the wing, and there is a good chance he sees solid playing time while Iman Shumpert (knee surgery) continues to recover. We're not very excited about his fantasy prospects on a team with a lot of players who will all want the ball. Brewer averaged 6.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 25 minutes per game last season.

Sun Jul 15 201201:28Ronnie Brewer heading to the Wolves?
Ronnie Brewer "could be Minnesota-bound," according to Aggrey Sam of CSN.com.
Brewer doesn't have 3-point range and is a lousy FT shooter, limiting his fantasy appeal, but he could be a nice fit with the Wolves. He's a solid defender and operates best offensively when he's slashing to the basket, something coach Rick Adelman and PGs Ricky Rubio/J.J. Barea should be able to accommodate.

Tue Jul 10 201215:24Bulls won't pick up Ronnie Brewer's option
The Bulls will not pick up SG Ronnie Brewer's option for 2012-13.
He has almost no shot at returning to the Bulls, but will likely find a bench role in the NBA.

Mon Jun 4 201211:05Brewer not in Chicago's plans next season?
Ronnie Brewer is the "least likely to return" of the Bulls' reserve players.
Brewer's role was reduced in the first round of the playoffs, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him with a new team next season. CSN Chicago names Jimmy Butler as a candidate to fill Brewer's role for next season. If on the roster, Brewer will earn nearly $5 million for the 2012-13 season.

Thu May 17 201214:41Ronnie Brewer wants to return to Chicago
Speaking to a local radio station on Thursday, Ronnie Brewer said that he wants to return to the Bulls next season.
With Jimmy Butler emerging as a more inexpensive option, the Bulls may not grant Brewer's wish. Brewer was supposed to be a bench player, but started 43 games during the season with Richard Hamilton injured most of the year. Brewer's role was reduced in the first round of the playoffs when Hamilton returned, only playing 13 minutes in each of the first two games and was even a healthy DNP-CD in Game 3. He did play in the last three games, including 29 minutes in Game 5. It would be a surprise if Brewer returned to the Bulls for next season.

Sun May 6 201216:00Ronnie Brewer plays 17 minutes after DNP-CD
Ronnie Brewer, who picked up an unexpected DNP-CD in Game 3, returned to play 17 minutes in Chicago's loss on Sunday.
Brewer was scoreless but had four rebounds and three assists while playing sticky perimeter defense. His return cut into Rip Hamilton's activity, as Rip finished with just seven points on 3-of-9 shooting in 24 minutes. The Bulls have to win three straight games without their MVP in order to advance to the second round.

Tue Apr 17 201204:00Brewer scores six points with five steals
Ronnie Brewer started for injured Luol Deng (ribs) on Monday, scoring six points on 3-of-9 shooting with four rebounds, two assists, five steals, and one block in 28 minutes.
Brewer has been a steals guy in prior years, though this year his 1.2 steals per game mark is a bit down playing in a more part-time role. Should the Bulls decide it's time to rest Deng in advance of the playoffs, give Brewer a look for that category and his low-end production across categories.

Sun Apr 1 201216:43Ronnie Brewer slides into a bench role
Ronnie Brewer was brought off the bench on Sunday in order to matchup up with the Thunder's James Harden, and scored seven points with three rebounds and two assists.
Brewer will likely be back in the starting lineup on Monday, but given his recent lack of production he shouldn't be owned in 12-team leagues.

Tue Mar 27 201203:56Brewer scores five points against the Nugs
Ronnie Brewer scored five points on 2-of-6 shooting (including a three) with one steal in 19 minutes on Monday.
Brewer has not met expectations since taking over once again for Richard Hamilton, and should remain on the waiver wire in standard formats until further notice.

Tue Mar 13 201200:47Ronnie Brewer posts versatile line in win
Ronnie Brewer hit 5-of-8 shots (including a three) for 11 points, and also added seven rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and one block in Monday's win over the Knicks.
Brewer posted a similar line on Wednesday, but disappeared in the following game on Thursday with just three points and not much else in just under 20 minutes. We doubt he'll play that little on most nights going forward, and while he won't put up these numbers every night we do think he should be owned in 12-team formats.
