Sat Jun 30 201218:52Brandon Roy narrows options to five teams
Brandon Roy has whittled his options as a free agent down to five teams -- the Bulls, Pacers, Mavericks, Warriors and Timberwolves.
Roy apparently feels much better after having Orthokine therapy (yet another glowing report about the platelet-rich plasma treatment) and some teams are reportedly willing to offer him a multi-year deal.

Sat Jun 30 201211:28Report: Wolves met w/ Brandon Roy on Friday
The Timberwolves met with Brandon Roy on Friday and "like their chances to get him," according to ESPN's Darren Wolfson.
David Kahn is giving Roy a full-court press in free agency, and we'll soon learn whether Roy feels he's a good fit in Minnesota. Roy is eligible to sign a deal immediately, according to Wolfson, but might opt to wait until the official free agent signing period begins on July 11.

Thu Jun 28 201207:57Lakers not interested in signing Brandon Roy
The Lakers are not interested in Brandon Roy, a source tells ESPN Los Angeles.
The Roy to Lakers chatter really never made much sense. Los Angeles needs youth and athleticism on its bench, and although a Roy comeback would be a great story, he's not solving any problems the Lakers face in the second unit. He'd be a much better fit on a team better positioned to roll the dice on his knees. The Lakers are "skeptical" that Roy's body would hold up through an entire season.

Tue Jun 26 201207:21Bulls, Mavs, Pacers, T-Wolves targeting Roy
The Bulls, Mavericks, Pacers and Timberwolves "have emerged as serious suitors" to sign Brandon Roy, sources tell Yahoo! Sports.
Per Wojnarowski, Roy's recovery from knee problems has "been spurred by undergoing the platelet rich plasma therapy" that Kobe Bryant made popular among NBA players. Wojnarowski also notes that the Warriors maintain some level of interest, but they're not considered a top suitor. The most interesting part of this is that Wojnarwoski reports that some teams would be willing to use their full midlevel exception on the shooting guard. There is still a ton of risk involved in signing Roy given the chronic nature of his knee issues.

Mon Jun 25 201219:52Report: Wolves set to offer Roy 2-year deal
The Wolves are reportedly "set to offer" free agent Brandon Roy an undisclosed two-year deal.
This doesn't mean he is ready to accept the offer, as Wolves beat writer Darren Wolfson writes "there's a strong belief Roy favors a championship contender." Wolves assistant coach Bill Bayno has convinced David Kahn that Roy is worth the injury-risk, but unless he received some truly magical German knee therapy we can't see his comeback working out. Wolfson adds that the Wolves are still tracking Jamal Crawford, who will likely opt out of his deal and become a free agent.

Mon Jun 25 201207:26Report: Brandon Roy targeting a contender
Brandon Roy is hoping to sign with a contender, sources tell Hoopsworld.
Roy, who is apparently very serious about making a comeback, has been linked to the Lakers and Warriors already. Alex Kennedy speculates that Miami could make a play for Roy, but there is nothing to suggest Miami has any interest in going that route. Should Roy be able to return, he'll represent the definition of a low-risk, high-reward signing.

Fri Jun 22 201217:50Warriors interested in signing B-Roy
Warriors GM Bob Myers said he would "absolutely" be interested in signing Brandon Roy, should Roy return to the NBA next season.
We're likely to hear similar sentiments from most GMs, considering Roy's All-Star talent level, but it's anyone's guess how many more minutes his knees will allow him to play. Myers also said he's had recent discussions about moving up from the No. 7 pick in the draft, another staple in pre-draft GM interviews.

Sat Jun 16 201216:43Brandon Roy (knees) hopes to return next year
Brandon Roy (knees) wrote on Friday that he's "preparing for a return next year."
Roy, who was writing on the Twitter account of his friend and fellow basketball player Will Conroy, added that he's "training daily...health is good." He's scheduled to play in a Pro-Am tournament this weekend and we'll keep an eye out for reports or videos of his performance. It's quite possible that he can still be effective in a limited-minutes role off a contender's bench.

Sat Jun 16 201210:27Brandon Roy scheduled to play in Pro-Am
Brandon Roy is scheuled to play in Jamal Crawford's annual Pro-Am event in Washington state this weekend.
Roy hasn't ruled out eventually returning to the NBA, and we'll keep an eye on his performance. The event features a few other NBA noteables, including Spencer Hawes, Nate Robinson and Isaiah Thomas, and will surely draw more attention to Seattle's attempt to lure a pro basketball team into town.

Sat Jun 2 201209:32Brandon Roy (knees) hasn't discussed return
Brandon Roy and his agent "haven't really discussed" the possibility of Roy eventually returning to the NBA.
Roy's agent expects to discuss a return "soon" but we're keeping expectations low until his camp provides reason for optimism. He has a chronic knee condition that threatens his long-term health, and even if he does return he won't be the same player we once knew.

Thu May 31 201210:17Report: Brandon Roy could be back next year
Brandon Roy could return to the NBA next season, according to ESPN's Chris Palmer.
Palmer is regurgitating what we already know. Roy is working out and continues to talk about a potential return to the NBA, but there is nothing to suggest that he's actively pursuing a comeback attempt at this time. Palmer speculates that Roy could help the Lakers if he does indeed decide to give it another go.

Tue May 8 201220:27Brandon Roy still talking possible comeback
Brandon Roy, whose career was cut short by a chronic knee injury, is still talking about a possible return to the NBA at some point.
"In the back of my mind, maybe this is something I may do again. But who knows? It's something right now where I'm enjoying playing and not playing with the pain I had last year after going through two knee surgeries. I was never the fastest or the highest leaper but being smart -- those are all little things I have up my sleeve if I do decide to play, those are all positives I do have going for me." Consider him a long shot to resume his career, and avoid him in fantasy if he does decide to give it a try at some point.

Sat Apr 14 201209:05Brandon Roy comeback rumors still swirling
Brandon Roy (knees) has been working out and "hasn't ruled out the possibility of returning to the NBA next season," sources tell Hoopsworld.
Take this with a major grain of salt. Back at the end of February, rumors swirled that Roy was contemplating a comeback, but that doesn't mean he'll be physically able to do it. He's got chronic problems with his knees and faces an uphill battle to return. Even if Roy does make a comeback, it's hard to imagine him being the player he once was during his tenure with the Blazers. He'll be an unrestricted free agent if he does decide to return after Portland used its amnesty clause on him before the season.

Tue Feb 28 201211:44Report: Brandon Roy considering comeback
Brandon Roy is reportedly considering an attempt to return to basketball.
"I've been doing some treatment and I'm trying to leave the window open to returning to basketball," said Roy. He added "it's really hard being so far away from the game." Roy faces an uphill battle in his quest to return to the NBA.

Sat Dec 17 201119:19Brandon Roy clears waivers, still retired
Brandon Roy has gone through the amnesty waiver process unclaimed and is technically a free agent, but he has retired.
It's unclear if Roy's retirement is 'official', but he's not physically capable of playing basketball. Portland must not have expected to get much relief for his contract from insurance or they probably wouldn't have used their amnesty clause.

Thu Dec 15 201115:21Blazers to use amnesty clause on Roy
The Blazers will use the amnesty clause to waive Brandon Roy, according to Adrian Wajnarowski.
Roy is set to retire due to a chronic knee injury and should therefore clear waivers. A sad end to such a promising career, and another sad chapter for the Blazers.

Wed Dec 14 201118:16Blazers could amnesty Roy by Friday deadline
Blazers beat writer Jason Quick believes there's a "high probability" that the Blazers will use the amnesty clause on Brandon Roy before Friday's deadline.
Quick is just speculating, but the reason for his belief is that the Blazers haven't yet scheduled an appointment with a doctor to seek a Disabled Player Exception. We're not sure exactly why the Blazers wouldn't try to go that route, but either way it doesn't change the fact that Roy's career is over.

Fri Dec 9 201118:55McMillan confirms to Blazers Roy is finished
Nate McMillan reportedly told his team Friday morning that Brandon Roy has decided to retire and will not be with the team this year.
We still haven't heard it from Roy or his camp, but this is about as official as it gets. LaMarcus Aldridge said he'd like to see Roy's jersey hanging in the rafters of the Rose Garden, and that doesn't sound like a bad idea. As far as fantasy impacts, Wesley Matthews looks like a sure bet for success, while Nicolas Batum is also said to be in great shape.

Fri Dec 9 201115:17Source confirms Brandon Roy will retire
A source close to Brandon Roy has confirmed that he's been diagnosed with a career-ending knee condition and will retire.
Hearts will be heavy in Portland, as Roy has ushered the Blazers out of the "Jail Blazers" era ever since winning Rookie of the Year in 2007. A three-time All-Star, he'll be remembered for his unique athleticism and clutch shooting, as well as his classy off-court demeanor. Teammate Wesley Matthews is already rooting for "comeback 2014" and we second the notion.

Fri Dec 9 201112:36Doctors to Brandon Roy: 'You can't do this'
As Brandon Roy contemplates retiring from basketball, an ominous quote emerged via Joe Freeman on Twitter.
A source said that Roy met with doctors on Thursday and was told by doctors after his knee evaluation: "You can't do this. You might end up not walking." Roy is said to be very emotional and it's doubtful he'll meet with the media today. It sounds like his career is over, although we're still awaiting for it to become official. Another sad story in a generally sad day as training camps open and free agency starts.
