Sat Dec 8 201201:45Jason Smith goes for 14 and 5 with 5 blks
Jason Smith (knee) returned to action and scored 14 points on 7-of-14 shooting with five rebounds, three assists, and five blocks in 28 minutes off the bench on Friday against the Grizzlies.
Smith has the ability to put up numbers similar to this on any given night, but his consistency has been a problem and tonight's action saw many key Hornets playing limited minutes. Give him a look as a desperation spot-starter until Anthony Davis returns in deeper formats.

Fri Dec 7 201211:57Jason Smith a game-time decision Friday
Jason Smith (knee) did not practice on Friday and is a game-time decision against the Grizzlies.
Smith did some work to the side, and he'll warm up before the game to determine whether or not he can play. If he can't give it a go, look for Robin Lopez to play more minutes, with Ryan Anderson, Al-Farouq Aminu and Lance Thomas all getting a boost.

Wed Dec 5 201220:43Jason Smith limps off in the first half
Jason Smith injured his right leg in the first half on Wednesday's game against the Lakers.
Smith has been dealing with some strange injuries in his career and we'll update when we know more. He does have some low-level value in deeper by playing 23 minutes per game in his last four. Lance Thomas has been playing a little bit of center with Smith down and is not an option in the vast majority of leagues.

Smith has been hit or miss tonight and he was a hit tonight. He did get two of his shots blocked by Larry Sanders and shot just 5-of-12 from the field. He'll have some stop-gap value in deeper leagues while Anthony Davis (ankle) is out.

Tue Nov 27 201201:01Smith scores 17 points off the bench
Jason Smith scored 17 points off the bench on Monday against the Clippers, hitting 5-of-8 shots (7-of-8 FTs) with four rebounds, one assist, and one block in 29 minutes.
Smith was the center of attention for a Clippers team delivering cheap shots all night, and all of that was certainly in retaliation for Smith's cheap shot from last season on Blake Griffin. Regardless, Smith composed himself well and is worth a look for owners needing a short-term, low-end pickup down low.

Sat Nov 24 201219:09Jason Smith iffy for Sunday w/ eye injury
Jason Smith (corneal abrasion) is questionable to play on Sunday.
Smith has already battled thumb and shoulder injuries this season, and now he's wearing a protective contact lens to prevent further damage to his eye. He could play more minutes if Anthony Davis (ankle) continues to miss games, but Smith isn't currently a reliable fantasy option.

Fri Nov 23 201222:17Jason Smith (eye) out for game
Jason Smith (eye) suffered a corneal abrasion in Friday's game and will not return.
He logged just one minute and grabbed a single rebound. It's too bad because Smith was coming off an 18-point, seven-board outing on Wednesday and may have been able to muster up some short-term value with Anthony Davis out of the lineup.

Jason Smith scored 18 points off the bench on Wednesday against the Pacers, hitting 8-of-21 shots with seven rebounds and a block in 26 minutes.
Smith has been known to put up numbers when healthy and given minutes, though he's still not a consistent option. But his fantasy friendly game can climb the charts fairly quickly, so give him a look for however long Anthony Davis (ankle) is out.

Jason Smith scored six points on 3-of-9 shooting with four rebounds and a steal in 19 minutes off the bench on Friday.

Sat Oct 20 201213:03Jason Smith (shoulder) sits again on Saturday
Jason Smith (strained shoulder) sat out another practice on Saturday.

Fri Oct 19 201201:01Jason Smith (shoulder) sits out on Thursday

Wed Oct 17 201214:52Jason Smith day-to-day w/ strained shoulder
Jason Smith (strained shoulder) is listed as day-to-day after tests revealed no structural damage.
It seems Smith's shoulder may have briefly been dislocated, resulting in "a significant bone bruise on the shoulder itself, but no tears." This is a great prognosis for Smith, but his all-out style of play makes him injury prone, and the Hornets frontcourt is too crowded to target him as more than a deep-league option.
