Speights played just five minutes in Tuesday night's preseason game against the Clippers.

Head coach Steve Kerr has talked about using Speights as a backup at center, but that plan didn't get off to a good start Tuesday.

Speights will get playing time as a backup center during preseason games, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. "He brings more of an offensive, jump-shooting mindset, and he's in good shape. His effort has been really good, so he can play," said head coach Steve Kerr.

Kerr was addressing an emerging situation behind starting center Andrew Bogut. Festus Ezeli has been hyped to be the primary backup, but he's dealing with inflammation in his right shin and will miss the first few preseason games. Kerr added that Ognjen Kuzmic will also get minutes while Ezeli works his way back onto the floor.

Speights was charged with driving under the influence and arrested early Tuesday, ESPN reports.

According to the police report, Speights, who was celebrating his birthday, was arrested in the early hours after blowing a .103 and .106 on two breathalyzer tests. He has since been released on $500 bond. A suspension appears likely to be handed down to the power forward, who averaged 6.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game for the Warriors last season.

There was reportedly a hallway altercation following Saturday's Game 7 loss to the Clippers, though no punches were thrown.

The Warriors reportedly heard what they thought was a Clippers assistant coach yelling, "It's a little quiet in their," several times outside their locker room. Stephen Curry and Steve Blake were the first to emerge from their locker room to confront some Clippers ball boys. STAPLES Center security, and the LAPD eventually intervened as Marreese Speights and Glen Davis were yelling at each other, and that sums up the situation. It's unlikely that their will be any punishment from the league, and this sort of thing isn't exactly surprising given the intensity of the series and the two teams general dislike for each other. Andrew Bogut is out indefinitely and Jermaine O'Neal (10 points, four boards, one steal) is a candidate to be held out of Wednesday's game. That makes Speights a likely target to carry the load down low, and he has a history of big games when he's allowed to shoot at will. Hilton Armstrong could also take over O'Neal's lower-minute role.

The Lakers don't even try to play defense so owners should keep that in mind when assessing Speights going forward. The Warriors are basically locked into the No. 6 seed so they may rest some of their key big men down the stretch, and in that case Speights would be worth a look.

The same goes for Jordan Crawford, who added 16 points on 6-of-18 shooting with three treys, two boards, two assists and one steal in 34 minutes.

He had 16 points and nine boards on Friday, but outside of those two games, he hasn't done enough to even be on the fantasy radar. However, if he keeps playing like this and posts another couple solid lines to finish out the week, he will grab our attention. On Sunday, he sandwiched a line of five points and three rebounds between the good games, which speaks to our point.

Amazingly, eight of his rebounds were offensive, and while he was instrumental in keeping the Dubs alive tonight, it's hard to see him doing this again anytime soon. Ignore him for now.

The Warriors have agreed on a three-year deal with free agent Marreese Speights.

Speights had a mostly disappointing season with the Cavs last year but it's also possible that his style didn't work with known disciplinarian Byron Scott. In Golden State he'll be a backup rotational big playing behind David Lee and Andrew Bogut.

Marreese Speights has declined his $4.5 million player option with the Cavs and will become a free agent.

The Cavs are hoping Marreese Speights opts out of his contract, according to the News-Herald.

Per the report, the team fears Speights "might not fit their culture." Wherever Speights has gone, he has shown great flashes of productivity, but there have been relentless questions and concerns about his fit and personality with the culture of the team. If Speights does opt out, he should have no issue finding interested suitors despite the checkered past.

He did his damage in just 22 minutes, and starting center Tyler Zeller added 14 points, but that's where the good news ended for Cleveland. Wayne Ellington shot 2-of-8 for five points, Alonzo Gee was 3-of-8 for nine points, and games like this are the reason Byron Scott's job may be in jeopardy this summer.

He's shown flashes at times this season, but without a reliable 25 minutes per night, there's no reason to own him in most leagues.
