Sat Feb 11 201221:56Corey Maggette starts, scores 12 points
Starting at SF for the Bobcats, Corey Maggette finished Saturday's defeat with 12 points, six rebounds, two assists and three turnovers in 25 minutes.
The Bobcats have now lost 14 consecutive games, setting an ignominious franchise record. As we mentioned pre-game, Maggette came into this game shooting under 30 percent from the field -- he made 3-of-8 FGs and 6-of-7 FTs in this contest.

Sat Feb 11 201217:50Corey Maggette starts, Tyrus Thomas to bench
Corey Maggette will start at SF for the Bobcats on Saturday, replacing Tyrus Thomas, though he's only expected to play about 20 minutes.
Maggette had just four points, four rebounds and three turnovers in 13 minutes on Friday. He's been awful in limited games this season, shooting 29.9 percent from the field, and is currently a very shaky option in 12-team leagues.

Fri Feb 10 201222:14Maggette to start on Saturday; 4 & 4 on Fri
Corey Maggette returned from a 19-game absence due to a hamstring injury on Friday, and despite a slow night he will start Saturday's game against the Clippers.
Maggette scored four points on 2-of-7 shooting with four rebounds and three turnovers in 13 minutes, and beat writer Rick Bonnell said that he expects Tyrus Thomas to be the guy sent to the bench. Maggette could theoretically provide a scoring punch for a team in desperate need for one, so he's worth consideration as a speculative add in 12-team leagues. He has very real injury concerns and will be a candidate to be overlooked as the Bobcats go young.

Fri Feb 10 201220:34Maggette starts second half for Tyrus Thomas
Corey Maggette started the second half for Tyrus Thomas in Friday's game against the Bulls.
Maggette has four points and four rebounds on 2-of-7 shooting, so he's not exactly burning up the charts, but it's the first sign that he's heading toward owners' rosters. Let's see how he does in the second half before recommending anything but a very speculative add in 12-team leagues. As for Thomas, this could be the last straw for owners and he is certainly droppable for a hot free agent.

Fri Feb 10 201219:24Maggette (hamstring) plays on Friday
Corey Maggette (hamstring) has entered Friday's game.
His status was a bit murky heading into Friday's contest but he is on the floor now. We'll update you after the game, and owners will want to see how Maggette does before cutting anybody of value for him.

Thu Feb 9 201213:37Corey Maggette back at practice on Thursday
Corey Maggette (hamstring) went through a full contact practice on Thursday.
Paul Silas said that Maggette could be back as soon as Friday in limited fashion if his hamstring responds properly. It's unclear how the Bobcats will utilize him with Reggie Williams playing well, but he should find consistent playing time with Gerald Henderson (hamstring) still on the shelf. Owners in standard sized leagues can afford to see how he does his first time out before contemplating a pick up.

Wed Feb 8 201214:45Maggette could return before All-Star break
Corey Maggette (hamstring) has been cleared for "some" practice, and is hoping to return before the All-Star break.
Beat writer Rick Bonnell notes that Maggette "sounds cautious" about not rushing back, so a pre-All-Star break return isn't guaranteed. And with the return of Gerald Henderson around the same time, it's possible that Maggette will return to a role off the bench. It's safe to leave him on waivers in standard-sized leagues for now.

Mon Jan 30 201213:39Maggette (hamstring) unlikely to return soon
Corey Maggette (hamstring strain) isn't expected to start practicing until the Bobcats return from their upcoming road trip.
Maggette's return will be wonderful news for the Bobcats' offense, but for now he should be an afterthought in average fantasy leagues. He was shooting 30% from the field before the injury.

Sun Jan 29 201212:45Maggette (hamstring) making progress
Corey Maggette did some on-court work both Saturday and Sunday, and he is "making progress" in his return from a hamstring injury.
Maggette has been targeting an early-February return but there still isn't a clear timetable for his return. He didn't provide fantasy value in the six games he played this season, and probably isn't worth stashing until we at least hear a return date.

Sun Jan 15 201214:00Corey Maggette (hammy) still can't run, jump
Corey Maggette (hamstring) still can't run or jump, and there is no timetable for his return.
Maggette said that he's grateful just to "walk a little more normal." That doesn't sound like a player who's anywhere near a return, and given his injury history we're even more skeptical about his recovery. He was originally targeting an early February return so presumably we'll get some positive updates in a few weeks.

Fri Jan 6 201211:18Corey Maggette (hamstring) out 2-4 weeks
Corey Maggette (hamstring strain) is expected to miss 2-4 weeks.
We alluded to the fact that Maggette's injury might be serious, and an MRI revealed the strain. The Bobcats are due to get back Tyrus Thomas (ankle) on Friday, and that's going to be welcome news. Paul Silas will have to jiggle his rotation, but this means that D.J. Augustin and Boris Diaw will continue to see heavy minutes as the team's most productive players.

Thu Jan 5 201200:28Corey Maggette's hammy injury looks bad
Beat writer Rick Bonnell suspects Corey Maggette (hamstring) "could be out for a while."
This has the look of a Grade 2 or 3 hamstring pull. Maggette couldn't put any weight on his left leg and was spotted in "considerable discomfort." Derrick Brown stands to see a bump in minutes and possibly a starting role, but we wouldn't expect much production. Brown came into Wednesday averaged 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 14.5 minutes. Note that Tyrus Thomas (ankle) is due back Friday.

Wed Jan 4 201221:20Maggette strains hamstring, questionable
Corey Maggette suffered a strained left hamstring in Wednesday's game and is questionable to return.
If it's not one thing, it's another with Maggette, whose season is off to a disastrous start. He had 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting through three quarters before leaving. Derrick Brown will see some more minutes in his absence, but isn't someone to target in fantasy leagues.

Sun Jan 1 201221:43Corey Maggette awful in blowout loss to Miami
Corey Maggette had just two points in Sunday's loss to the Heat, going 0-of-6 from the field.
Maggette is shooting under 32% for the season, though in fairness he's actually hitting 1.0 threes per game, along with a career-high 7.3 rebounds. His shot will come around and the Bobcats need him to score, so be patient.

Sat Dec 31 201100:37Maggette (illness) plays Friday, scores 20
Corey Maggette (illness) played Friday against the Magic, scoring 20 points on 6-of-15 shooting (including three treys) with seven rebounds, one assist, and a steal.
Maggette hasn't been shooting well, but tonight he wasn't the only for the Bobcats as the team shot just 36 percent from the field. Keep him in your lineup but beware his low shooting percentage right now.

Fri Dec 30 201111:19Corey Maggette over illness, will play Friday
Corey Maggette (illness) will play on Friday.
Although he missed Thursday's practice with an illness, Maggette was never in any real danger of missing Friday's game against the Magic. He'll look to turn around a very poor start, as he's shooting just 28 percent from the floor and averaging four turnovers per game.

Thu Dec 29 201114:03Corey Maggette not practicing on Thursday
Corey Maggette (illness) did not practice on Thursday.
He's still expected to play on Friday against the Magic. Although he's averaged 34 minutes of playing time in his first two games, Maggette is averaging just nine points and shooting a putrid 28 percent. Owners looking for help in the points and free throw percentage areas can likely do better elsewhere.

Wed Dec 28 201122:17Maggette hits just 1-of-10 shots in loss
Corey Maggette hit just 1-of-10 shots for six points and eight rebounds in Wednesday's loss to the Heat.
He also allowed LeBron James to do what he wanted tonight. The good news is Maggette's back hasn't been an issue, but he's hit just 7-of-25 shots in his two games thus far. He should improve soon, but keep in mind that he's very injury prone, making him a somewhat shaky fantasy starter.

Tue Dec 27 201100:49Maggette starts and scores 12 points in win
Corey Maggette (back) started at small forward and scored 12 points on 6-of-15 shooting (no threes) with seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and six turnovers in the Bobcats' 96-96 win over the Bucks on Wednesday.
He played 39 minutes and owners in turnover leagues probably wish he didn't. Look for Maggette to handle primary scoring duties until his next injury.
