Fri Jan 28 201101:49Fernandez in for Batum, fills stat sheet
Rudy Fernandez had a decent game across the board, finishing with 11 points, 2 3-pointers, three rebounds, five assists, and three steals against the Celtics on Thursday.
He only shot 4-for-15, but the Celtics were in lock-down mode tonight and no one on the team shot well. Fernandez had already been playing well while the team often utilizes a three-guard lineup, and if Batum misses any time with a knee injury then Fernandez is worth a pick-up.
Tue Jan 25 201103:31Rudy hits just 1-of-10 shots from the field
Rudy Fernandez hit just 1-of-10 shots from the field on Monday, scoring two points with four rebounds, no assists, three turnovers, and one block in 25 minutes off the bench.
This stalls the momentum created by Saturday's outing, so the waiver wire is probably the best spot for him at this time. However, he's getting decent minutes and he could start making some noise, so don't completely forget about him.
Sun Jan 23 201101:34Rudy hands out season-high eight assists
Rudy Fernandez handed out a season-high eight assists on Saturday, and also added 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting (including three treys) to go with six rebounds and two steals in 37 minutes off the bench.
These are the types of lines he was putting up earlier in the year in which he was taking on the role of playmaker, and tonight he needed to because Andre Miller lasted just three minutes due to the flu. With that in mind, we're not adding Fernandez in most leagues based on this outing, but it has certainly gotten our attention.
Sat Jan 22 201116:30Rudy Fernandez plays better in Portland
Rudy Fernandez says that his desire to please the fans in Portland might explain why he plays better at home than during road games.
Rudy scores 11.1 ppg in Portland, but just 6.2 ppg (on sub-32% shooting) on the road. "I try to play hard and play good every game...but yeah, absolutely, when we play at home, we feel the support from the fans," Fernandez said. "This is why I play better."

Fri Jan 21 201102:32Blazers go small without Camby
The Blazers stuck with a small lineup most of the game Thursday against the Clippers. Rudy Fernandez picked up most of the 'Marcus Camby' minutes and posted a great line of 17 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. He even blocked a hot for the thrid straight game.
He is the primary benefactor of Marcus Camby's injury and is definitely worth a good look as long as Camby is out. He has scored in double figures for the last three games and does a little bit of everything else, especially steals and threes.
Thu Jan 20 201101:40Rudy Fernandez returned to action on Wednesday January 19
Rudy Fernandez returned to action on Wednesday January 19.
Wed Jan 19 201121:38Rudy Fernandez to play for Blazers
Rudy Fernandez will play through a knee injury on Wednesday.
It will be interesting to see if his play improves now that Marcus Camby is out, but we're not expecting a big increase from Rudy.

Tue Jan 18 201116:02Rudy Fernandez iffy with knee injury
Rudy Fernandez, who had five steals and 13 points on Monday, is now questionable for Wednesday due to a bruised right knee.
The Blazers just can't seem to catch a break, but at least Rudy sounds day-to-day.

Tue Jan 18 201101:04Rudy shows up, gets career-high five steals
Rudy Fernandez set a career-best on Monday with five steals, and scored 13 points on 3-of-11 shooting (including two threes) with three rebounds, two assists, and a block in 30 minutes off the bench.
It's a nice line but it would have been more moving had he hit a few more shots. Owners need not look further for reasons to ignore this line than his last two games, in which he totaled five points on 2-of-13 shooting.
Sun Jan 16 201110:22Fernandez withdraws trade request
Rudy Fernandez has withdrawn his trade request to the Blazers, according to the Oregonian.
After a rocky offseason that saw Fernandez consistently asking out of Portland, the Spanish sharpshooter appears happy. He's content with his 20-24 minutes a night off the bench as a 3-point specialist.

Wed Jan 12 201102:50Fernandez scores 18 points vs. Knicks
Rudy Fernandez scored 18 points off the bench against the Knicks on Tuesday, hitting 4-of-10 shots form the field (including three treys) with three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
He has failed to step up in Brandon Roy's absence, and we're not rushing out to pick him up, but he is still a player to watch given his favorable situation. Tuesday's result is a step in the right direction.
Sun Jan 9 201123:57Rudy quiet in return from flu
Rudy Fernandez (virus) returned to action on Sunday with eight points (1-of-3 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs) and three rebounds in 17 minutes.
Fernandez is playing spot minutes off the bench, despite the absence of Brandon Roy, and there's no reason to expect a breakout performance any time soon.
Thu Jan 6 201100:32Rudy Fernandez scores 12 in win
Rudy Fernandez hit 3-of-11 shot and 1-of-7 3-pointers on his way to 12 points and five assists in Wednesday's win.
He's going to get minutes for the injury depleted Blazers, but we like Nicolas Batum and his all-around game better for fantasy owners. We'll know if we're right a month from now.
Wed Jan 5 201103:11Fernandez hitting rock bottom despite chance
Rudy Fernandez continued his fantasy free-fall on Tuesday, scoring just two points on 1-of-4 shooting (no threes) with two rebounds and one assist in 17 minutes off the bench.
With everything seemingly in line for him, he has balked at the opportunity to become a fantasy factor despite some solid early returns. He should not be owned at this time, but keep an eye on him as he has every chance to get solid sixth-man minutes.
Wed Dec 29 201003:08Rudy scores 11 points with four rebounds
Rudy Fernandez scored 11 points off the bench on Tuesday, hitting 3-of-7 shots from the field (3-of-4 from deep) with four rebounds, one assist, and one block in 20 minutes.
There wasn't a lot of difference between him and Nicolas Batum (14 points, five rebounds, two steals, one block, one three) tonight, and as the Blazers were held to just 77 points, there wasn't much to crow about on the Portland side of the box score. We still like both of these guys to benefit from Brandon Roy's absence, which we should be getting an update on soon.
Sun Dec 26 201001:36Rudy takes a back seat to Batum vs. GSW
Rudy Fernandez scored eight points on 3-of-8 shooting (including a three) with seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 27 minutes off the bench on Saturday against the Warriors.
Owners were hoping for more, and won't be happy to see Nicolas Batum run away with the spoils on his 18-point, 10-rebound, four-assist night. It may be tempting to drop Rudy to add Batum, but keep in mind that Rudy has been far more consistent over the last 10 days.
Wed Dec 22 201010:21Fernandez set to keep rolling along
Over the last three games, Rudy Fernandez is averaging 18.6 points, 6.3 assists, 2.6 3-pointers and 2.0 steals per game.
Of course, Brandon Roy has sat out the last three games, opening up huge playing time for Fernandez. And with news breaking yesterday that Roy will be out at least three more games, Fernandez is a must-start player. He hasn't played less than 37 minutes in any of the last three games.

Tue Dec 21 201001:04Rudy scores 17 points with seven assists
Rudy Fernandez scored 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting (including two threes) with one rebound, seven assists, and one block in 38 minutes off the bench on Monday.
The minutes are a bit screwy since the game was under control early in the second quarter, but he has proven to be worth owning as long as Brandon Roy (knee) is out. Roy is going to be evaluated on Wednesday and could be back at any time, but don't drop Rudy for anything but a sure thing right now.
Sun Dec 19 201003:37Rudy posts 15-4-6 line in start for Batum
Rudy Fernandez started for injured Nicolas Batum (shoulder) in the Blazers' 96-95 win over the Warriors on Saturday, scoring 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting (including two threes) with four rebounds, six assists, and three steals in 39 minutes.
There's no update on Batum's status, but Rudy should be owned as long as Batum is not healthy enough to play. If Batum can play, Rudy will still have value as long as Brandon Roy (knee) is out, but he is no longer a must-own player. His outlook overall is pretty good, given Roy's depressing prognosis.
Sat Dec 18 201001:25Rudy Fernandez scores career-high 26 in win
Rudy Fernandez hit 9-of-15 shots and four 3-pointers on his way to a career-high 26 points and a season high of six assists in Friday's win.
With Nicolas Batum (shoulder), Marcus Camby (shoulder) and Brandon Roy (knee) all hurting right now, Fernandez could join LaMarcus Aldridge and Wesley Matthews as focal points of the offense. He's worth a pick up, but only becomes a must-own player if Batum is going to miss time with his injury.
