Tue Mar 15 201115:51Daye makes it through practice, should play
Austin Daye made it through Tueeday's practice despite being ill, but is expected to play on Wednesday.
He should be good to go, but keep in mind John Kuester is bringing him off the bench and limiting his minutes, stunting his growth along the way.

Tue Mar 15 201113:10Daye returns to Pistons practice
Austin Daye (illness) returned to Pistons practice Tuesday.
Daye had come off the bench in four straight games and hasn't played more than 24 minutes in any of them. He's a talented player with fantasy upside, but coach John Kuester seems intent on stunting his growth.

Mon Mar 14 201112:42Austin Daye misses practice with illness
Austin Daye was absent from team practice on Monday due to illness.
The Pistons don't play until Wednesday so it's possible that he could be healthy by then. Check back tomorrow and Wednesday to see his status going forward.

Thu Mar 10 201110:59Daye, Jerebko to start next season
The Detroit Free Press projects the Pistons' front line next season as Austin Daye at small forward, Jonas Jerebko at power forward and Greg Monroe at center.
This young lineup filled with potential would make sense, but as long as coach John Kuester is around we can't count on anything making sense. Still, with Tayshaun Prince almost certain to walk in free agency and Ben Wallace declining further, these youngsters have a big chance. Daye and Monroe are major keeper league assets.

Sat Mar 5 201113:58Austin Daye bumped to bench for Pistons
Austin Daye is slated to come off the Pistons' bench on Sunday.
Tayshaun Prince is taking over as the starting SF, which undermines the value Daye has shown over the past week. He may still carve out 25-30 minutes per game and hold some value, but we wouldn't discourage owners from browsing the FA pool.

Thu Mar 3 201100:24Daye catches fire on Wednesday for 22 points
Austin Daye started and hit 7-of-18 shots and two threes for a career-high 22 points to go along with four rebounds, three assists and a block.
He's been worth holding for a while now and got it done tonight, despite some spotty shooting. The Pistons should be under strict orders to play the kids, meaning Daye should have plenty of opportunities the rest of the way. And why he hasn't been starting all year is a question for Joe Dumars and John Kuester.

Wed Mar 2 201102:03Daye mediocre in start on Tuesday vs. MIL
Austin Daye drew a start after the 'Drama in Detroit' on Tuesday, and scored just six points on 3-of-8 shooting (no threes) with five rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes.
It would be interesting to know if he got frozen out by teammates for issuing a public apology for being late, but in reality-based fantasy analysis, he hasn't done anything but have a torrid preseason to justify all the attention. We like him as a player, but this looks like a lost season.

Sun Feb 27 201110:41Austin Daye apologizes to team for absence
Austin Daye offered an apology to the team for his tardiness at the team shootaround on Friday.
Apologies from teammates have been less than forthcoming, and tensions in the locker room have been high. From a professional standpoint Daye stands to gain if he's willing to side with the team while others on the roster continue their opposition. Don't take this issue lightly.

Sat Feb 26 201122:55Daye starts again, scores 18 points
Austin Daye scored 18 points after getting a night off on Friday for being late to shootaround, and hit four 3-pointers as the Pistons stunned the Jazz.
Tracy McGrady and Tayshaun Prince were out, either with illness/injury or another benching from their coach, while Ben Wallace was out due to the death of his brother. Daye is coming on and was getting minutes before the break, and is probably worth an add in most leagues - especially if T-Mac and Tayshaun stay in the doghouse.
Sat Feb 12 201102:04Daye scores team-high 18 points in blowout
Austin Daye scored a team-high 18 points in the Pistons' blowout loss on Friday, hitting 6-of-13 shots from the field (including three treys) with two rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 23 minutes.
While we've rang the bell for Daye all year long, this is not the time to get owners all riled up. The game was out of hand and he simply confirmed what we already know -- that he can shoot. He has been playing good minutes recently, however, and could be ready to turn the corner so keep an eye on him.
Wed Feb 9 201101:48Austin Daye's minutes starting to pick up
Austin Daye played 28 minutes off the bench on Tuesday, scoring 10 points on 3-of-6 shooting (including a three) with six rebounds, one assist, and two blocks.
He has had just a handful of serviceable fantasy outings over the past two months, but has now played 24 or more minutes in all but one of his last nine games. Now that he has broken into meaningful minutes, the next step for him will be adopting a more meaningful role.
Sun Jan 30 201122:09Austin Daye scoreless in nine minutes on Sun.
Austin Daye was scoreless in nine minutes on Sunday, two days after he had 19 & 9 in 42 minutes vs. the Heat.
Detroit's lanky forward is a solid 3-point shooter with a fantasy-friendly game, but his role is too chaotic to be relied upon. Keep him on your 'watch list' for the time being.
Fri Jan 28 201123:52Austin Daye starts, scores 19 in loss
Austin Daye started in place of injured Ben Wallace on Friday and had 19 points, nine rebounds, two assists, a steal, a block and three 3-pointers on 7-of-17 shooting Friday.
If Daye could only get consistent run from John Kuester he'd be living up to the hype we gave him prior to the season. Maybe Kuester is finally ready to turn him loose, as he had 20 points on Monday. Pick him up.
Mon Jan 24 201122:39Daye scores career-high 20 points off bench
Austin Daye scored a career-high 20 points off the bench with Charlie Villanueva (ankle) out on Monday, hitting 5-of-9 shots from the field (4-of-4 from downtown) with seven rebounds, no assists, and two steals in 34 minutes of action.
Has Austin Daye been freed? Probably not, but he's certainly entering roster stash territory again with the Pistons possibly getting rid of wings Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince, while everybody in Detroit has been clamoring for the Pistons to go young. Expect him to have a setback when Villanueva returns.
Mon Jan 10 201122:58Daye scores 14 points by halftime
Austin Daye scored all 14 of his points by halftime on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting mark from the field (including two threes) to go with four rebounds, two assists, and a block in 24 minutes off the bench on Monday.
He is moving toward a backup wing role, which is probably best suited for him rather than banging with power forwards down low. He has posted two straight games with this type of production, and is worth watching as the Pistons could go young at any time.
Sat Jan 8 201122:41Austin Daye keys Pistons' OT win on Saturday
Austin Daye scored 15 points off the Pistons bench on Saturday, and one of his three 3-pointers sent the game into overtime, where Detroit held on for the win.
Nothing about Daye's season implies that he'll perform like this consistently, but he should be watched closely. The Pistons aren't a playoff threat, the team is about to be sold, and the youth movement could erupt sooner rather than later.
Fri Dec 31 201023:35Austin Daye finally back in Pistons rotation
Austin Daye played 20 minutes and is now the backup power forward (again) for the Pistons, finishing with nine points and eight rebounds on 4-of-8 shooting.
We still feel that Daye has All-Star potential in the next few seasons, but it won't happen until he has a different coach, and possibly team and GM. If you're in a deep league, once again he's worth a look. Jason Maxiell and Greg Monroe have fallen out of favor again, but as long as John Kuester is running the show, they could be back in the rotation on a whim at any time.
Thu Dec 23 201001:34Austin Daye returned to action on Wednesday December 22
Austin Daye returned to action on Wednesday December 22.
Sat Dec 18 201014:12Austin Daye (hamstring) iffy for Sunday
Austin Daye (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Hornets.
Daye's hamstring strain was described as "mild" and we're considering him a game-time decision, but might know more after Sunday's shootaround.

Fri Dec 17 201018:26Austin Daye out Friday w/ hamstring strain
Austin Daye will not play on Friday because of a mild hamstring strain.
Daye hasn't been a fantasy factor this season anyway, despite high hopes in the preseason. Cut him, if you haven't already.
