Fri Dec 13 201317:33Tyler Hansbrough is active for Friday.
Tyler Hansbrough is active for Friday's game against the Sixers.
He missed two games with a shoulder sprain and it's unclear how many minutes he will see tonight. Amir Johnson has been spectacular over his last three games with averages of 24.3 points, 8.7 boards and 2.0 blocks, so coach Dwane Casey might give Amir a longer leash. Regardless, Hansbrough doesn't have much value in fantasy because of his lack of blocks and sub-par shooting percentage.

Fri Dec 13 201314:00Tyler Hansbrough expected to play Friday
Tyler Hansbrough (shoulder sprain) went through shoot around and is expected to play in Friday's game vs. the 76ers.
Hansbrough didn't have much value before the injury, and now with a very motivated Amir Johnson starting, and newly the acquired Patrick Patterson in line for some minutes, Hansbrough can be safely left on the wire in standard leagues.

Tue Dec 10 201317:41Tyler Hansbrough (shoulder) out again Tuesday
Tyler Hansbrough (shoulder sprain) will miss another game on Tuesday vs. the Spurs.
Patrick Patterson isn't yet available after being traded from the Kings, which will allow Amir Johnson to play as many minutes as he can handle at the PF spot. Hansbrough remains day-to-day with a sprained AC joint.

Sun Dec 8 201321:41Tyler Hansbrough (shoulder) out on Sunday
Tyler Hansbrough (sprained shoulder) will not play vs. the Lakers on Sunday.
Amir Johnson will start at PF in his absence. Hansbrough's injury was nearly lost in the excitement following Rudy Gay's trade to the Kings, which has implications for Toronto's frontcourt. Gay's departure clears more minutes for Landry Fields, Terrence Ross and Steve Novak, but the arrival of Patrick Patterson could spell trouble for both Hansbrough and Johnson at PF.

Fri Dec 6 201321:42Tyler Hansbrough sprains left shoulder
Tyler Hansbrough suffered a sprained shoulder against the Suns on Friday and will not return.
It's to his AC joint and the team will likely re-evaluate him to check on the severity of the sprain. Hansbrough had been starting for the Raptors and finished with no points in three minutes. Amir Johnson had been demoted, but he'll now get a chance to get it going with little competition behind him. If he was let loose in your league, it's probably time to pick him back up.

Wed Dec 4 201301:58Tyler Hansbrough scores just 2 points
Tyler Hansbrough made another start over Amir Johnson on Tuesday, but hit 1-of-4 shots for two points, nine rebounds, three assists and a steal.
The boards were fine, but the scoring was a drag. Amir went off for 16 points and 10 rebounds, and now that he might be properly motivated by losing his job, it wouldn't be surprising to see him move back into the starting lineup in front of Hansbrough at some point.

Sun Dec 1 201316:57Tyler Hansbrough plays 34 minutes Sunday
Tyler Hansbrough played a season-high 34 minutes against the Nuggets on Sunday, scoring seven points with five boards, one assist and four fouls.
He's only played more than 25 minutes just once this season, so the uptick in minutes was higher than expected in his first start. Hansbrough's game has rarely translated to fantasy basketball thanks to just 0.2 blocks per game and sub-par field goal shooting, so even in a starting role, we're not too fond of picking him up in standard leagues.

Sun Dec 1 201313:03Tyler Hansbrough replaces Amir Johnson at PF
Tyler Hansbrough will replace Amir Johnson in the Raptors' starting lineup for Sunday's matinee vs. the Nuggets.
Johnson has been struggling this year and the Raptors' starters have been digging a hole in most games, so coach Dwane Casey decided to mix things up a bit. Hansbrough is an interesting source of points and rebounds as a starter, but he doesn't do much else with fantasy value.

Sun Dec 1 201310:13Tyler Hansbrough may start for Raptors?
Dwane Casey has suggested that he'll change the Raptors' starting lineup, and there is speculation that Tyler Hansbrough will replace either Amir Johnson or Jonas Valanciunas.
Casey didn't give any specifics about who would start or shift to the bench, but Mike Ganter of the Toronto Sun writes, "[R]eading between the lines of what [Casey] said and looking at the numbers, the easy guess is one of his two bigs being replaced by Tyler Hansbrough." It is very hard to imagine Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan or Rudy Gay going to the bench, and both Johnson and Valanciunas played under 20 minutes on Friday, so we're inclined to agree. Fantasy owners should be ready to pounce on Psycho T if this move becomes a reality.

Sat Nov 30 201301:20Hansbrough gets two stitches on Friday
Tyler Hansbrough scored eight points on 8-of-12 free throws to go with 12 rebounds and a steal in 25 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Hansbrough also got two stitches under his left eye to go with the two missed field goals he had to show in the box score. He'll erupt for the occasional points and rebounds line, but has no real fantasy value coming off the bench for Toronto.

Tue Nov 26 201323:03Tyler Hansbrough doesn't look sick Tues.
Tyler Hansbrough (illness) played 18 minutes against the Nets on Tuesday with five points, seven boards and three fouls.
He was under the weather on Monday and missed some of practice. Hansbrough has been the first big man off the bench for Toronto, but not blocking shots will keep him from providing value unless Amir Johnson or Jonas Valanciunas need to miss time.

Mon Nov 25 201313:03Tyler Hansbrough is sick on Monday
Tyler Hansbrough (illness) is "under the weather" on Monday, according to teammate Rudy Gay.
The good news is that the Raptors are off on Monday and they will take on the Nets on Tuesday. It's also a home game, so he won't have to travel. Hansbrough is playing just 19.7 minutes per game this season and he'll have a tough time cracking standard-league value while Amir Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas are healthy.

Tue Nov 12 201300:31Hansbrough plays nine minutes on Monday
Tyler Hansbrough played nine minutes in Monday's double-overtime loss, scoring two points on 1-of-3 shooting with three rebounds.
Hansbrough put up 23 points, four rebounds and seven assists on Saturday but he's buried on the depth chart behind Amir Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas, and barring injury that has absolutely no chance of changing.

Sat Nov 9 201321:56Tyler Hansbrough scores 23 off bench
Tyler Hansbrough came off the bench to hit 6-of-9 shots and 11-of-13 free throws for a season-high 23 points, four rebounds, seven assists and two steals on Saturday.
Hansbrough played a lot of second-half minutes in a blow out win, meaning this was somewhat of a garbage-time performance. But he's been playing well this season and could eventually challenge Amir Johnson for his starting job, although the job is still Johnson's to lose as of now.

Thu Oct 24 201314:18Tyler Hansbrough right thumb is a non-issue
Tyler Hansbrough (thumb) was at practice on Thursday.
He sustained a minor right thumb injury and there's nothing wrong. Hansbrough is shooting 52.8 percent from the field this month, but hasn't played more than 24 minutes in any game. Psycho T will be an important piece as the first big man off the bench, especially considering Amir Johnson reputation for fouling too much.

Mon Oct 7 201322:01Tyler Hansbrough puts up 17 points on Monday
Tyler Hansbrough produced 17 points off the bench on Monday, adding nine boards and one block against the Celtics.
He made 5-of-7 from the field and started off his stint with his new team on a positive note. Amir Johnson led the Eastern Conference in fouls per game last season and Jonas Valanciunas was just 0.1 fouls per 48 minutes behind Amir, so Psycho T is going to be a big part of Toronto's bench. It's still going to be tough to predict when Hansbrough turns in useful lines, so he's not someone we're going to target in standard leagues.

Sun Oct 6 201317:11Tyler Hansbrough (hamstring) back at practice
Tyler Hansbrough (hamstring) practiced Sunday and is expected to play in Monday's game in Boston.
He didn't scrimmage on Saturday with his tight hammy, so his muscle strain was just a minor issue. Hansbrough will be the first big off the bench for the Raptors and should easily play more than his 16.9 minutes per game from last season.

Sat Oct 5 201311:58Tyler Hansbrough out w/ mild hamstring strain
Tyler Hansbrough won't scrimmage with the Raptors on Saturday due to a mild left hamstring strain.
The Raptors open their preseason vs. the Celtics on Monday and it's uncertain if Hansbrough will be in uniform. Toronto's bench was middling in all areas last year and they'll be relying this year on Hansbrough, D.J. Augustin, Steve Novak and improvement from guys like Terrence Ross and Landry Fields.

Wed Aug 21 201317:48Raptors expected to slow the pace this season
Raptors coach Dwane Casey expects the pace to be slower than it was to start last season.
Last year, Toronto started the season playing a fast pace and went 4-19. After a switch in philosophy by Casey, the team hovered around .500 for the rest of the year. The team is hoping the slower pace will increase 3-point opportunities, which is why it brought in Tyler Hansbrough and Steve Novak. The Raptors ranked 26th in 3-point percentage last season.
