Thu Mar 10 201101:50T-Mac starts, plays well in Detroit loss
Tracy McGrady, who hadn't played a second in his previous five games, shockingly started at point guard over Rodney Stuckey and went off for 15 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, two steals, a block and two 3-pointers on 6-of-11 shooting in Wednesday's loss to the Spurs.
Color us speechless. We still don't know why Stuckey was benched, as he had been playing at a very high level with T-Mac in street clothes, but John Kuester must have his reasons. McGrady was fantastic tonight and it's anyone's guess as to what his, or Stuckey's, role will be in the next one. If you have someone to cut, grab McGrady and see where we go from here.

Wed Mar 9 201120:08T-Mac starts over Stuckey for Pistons
Tracy McGrady is in the starting in place of Rodney Stuckey on Wednesday for the Pistons.
This is going to send waves through fantasy circles, as owners of Stuckey are going to be pretty upset with John Kuester, unless it's revealed later Stuckey is injured. T-Mac hasn't even been able to crack the lineup lately, but that's clearly not the case tonight. Don't panic if you own Stuckey, but there is cause for concern. McGrady is joined in the starting five by Ben Gordon, Tayshaun Prince, Chris Wilcox and Greg Monroe.

Mon Mar 7 201112:39McGrady voices frustration over lack of PT
Tracy McGrady voiced his frustration over his lack of playing time suggesting that he may not return next season.
When asked if he knew why he wasn't seeing any time he declined to comment. It looks like McGrady's firmly in the doghouse. Keep him benched until you hear some positive news.

Sat Mar 5 201110:49Tracy McGrady need to work harder in practice
Tracy McGrady must earn his minutes in practice if he hopes to rejoin the Pistons' rotation.
Pistons coach John Kuester has "cleaned the slate" and is sticking with players who practice and play with energy and intensity. On a related note, Jeff Van Gundy recently said of T-Mac, "He should be a Hall of Fame player. His talent was other-worldly...I just wish I could have changed his practice habits and his mentality."

Thu Mar 3 201100:14McGrady apparently not part of plan in DET
Tracy McGrady was a DNP-CD again on Wednesday and apparently didn't make it out of the doghouse with the rest of his teammates.
McGrady's run may not be over, as he could easily reemerge for John Kuester at any time, but we don't have the kind of patience it would take to hold him right now. If you want to cut him, do it.

Wed Mar 2 201102:15McGrady (illness) held out on Tuesday
Tracy McGrady (illness) dressed but did not play on Tuesday against the Bucks.
It's unclear what his future is with the team after Friday's revolt, as it is widely believed that he was a part of it and Tuesday's benching doesn't come as a surprise. McGrady owners should probably be patient to see how things turn out, but the early returns aren't promising.

Mon Feb 28 201110:08T-Mac iffy for Tuesday vs. Bucks
Tracy McGrady's status for Tuesday's game remains unclear.
T-Mac may or (more likely) may not have actually been sick during the Pistons' "revolt" on Friday -- he wasn't fined by the team, but also didn't play on Saturday. Hopefully we'll know more after Monday's shootaround.
Sat Feb 26 201118:19Tracy McGrady (headache) inactive on Sat.
Tracy McGrady will be inactive for the Pistons again on Saturday.
McGrady is reportedly out with an 'illness' but we're guessing this is the result of his blowing off yesterday's shootaround. He was also spotted (with others) laughing while John Kuester was ejected from Friday's game, and his relationship with 'Q' can't get much worse.

Fri Feb 25 201113:21T-Mac, Rip, Prince, Wilcox, Big Ben all out?
Tracy McGrady missed Friday's shootaround with a headache -- Tayshaun Prince (flu) was also ailing, Rip Hamilton and Chris Wilcox missed the team bus, and Ben Wallace was attending to a family matter.
Wow. This could be coincidental or it could be a loud statement of dissatisfaction from the team's veterans. Either way, Detroit's miserable season continues to spiral downward. John Kuester said "We'll go with the group that was here [for shootaround]," so it sounds like all of the aforementioned players are out.

Wed Feb 23 201122:45T-Mac breaks out of funk in loss to Pacers
Tracy McGrady broke out of a slump on Wednesday with 16 points, five rebounds, 12 assists and a block on 6-of-15 shooting.
He'd been quiet lately, allowing Will Bynum to get into a groove. Bynum had just nine points and two assists tonight, mostly because T-Mac was playing at a high level again. If you own him, plan on riding him until he runs out of gas.
Thu Feb 17 201114:00Pistons want McGrady to stick around
Pistons president Joe Dumars said that he wants Tracy McGrady back with the team next season.
McGrady has exceeded anyone's realistic expectations. He's shifted from a high-flying scorer to a long point guard that calmly runs the team. The Pistons are refusing to simply blow the team up and start over fresh, so T-Mac makes some sense for them. He's averaging 11.8 points, 4.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 29 starts this year.

Thu Feb 17 201100:39T-Mac plays well in win over Pacers
Tracy McGrady had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists in Wednesday's win over the Pacers.
He's not a guy who is going to turn your head with amazing stats, but he's really meshed well with the Pistons. His leg appeared to be bothering him tonight, but he should come back refreshed after the break.
Mon Feb 14 201123:01T-Mac plays 27 minutes in loss to Hawks
Tracy McGrady played 27 minutes in the Pistons' loss to the Hawks on Monday, scoring 14 points on 3-of-9 shooting (including two threes) with one rebound, four assists, and two steals.
The numbers aren't great, and we're great for anybody in Detroit tonight, but we're comfortable calling McGrady the player to own between him and Will Bynum (21 minutes). They are morphing more toward a value-killing timeshare than owners are comfortable with, but in these roles McGrady's numbers should get better when Detroit starts playing better.
Sat Feb 12 201102:11McGrady plays 28 minutes in blowout loss
Tracy McGrady played 28 minutes of the Pistons' 106-92 blowout loss to the Heat on Friday, scoring nine points on 2-of-6 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds, two assists, five turnovers, one steal, and one block.
Many owners are concerned about his recent time-share with Will Bynum, and while T-Mac certainly had his own issues tonight, the fact that John Kuester would keep him out there instead of resting him is a testament to how bad Bynum was tonight. At a minimum, consider this to be McGrady holding his ground.
Wed Feb 9 201122:57T-Mac may be winding down
Tracy McGrady played just 18 minutes and finished with seven points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal in Wednesday's win over the Cavs.
He had a similar line on Tuesday and it's possible his weary and injured legs are catching up to him after he's played some very heavy minutes this season. He's still not a guy you should just cut, but with Will Bynum playing well for the first time this season and T-Mac's history, it might be time to cut him loose soon.
Wed Feb 9 201101:40McGrady plays just 24 minutes vs. Spurs
Tracy McGrady played just 24 minutes on Tuesday with Will Bynum hot, and scored seven points on 3-of-10 shooting with two rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
The Will Bynum Experience hit 9-of-13 shots for 21 points, and McGrady has complained of his legs being tired recently so maybe there's a correlation. The more likely scenario with the Pistons having two days off prior to tonight is that John Kuester rode the hot hand, but either way a bit of concern is in order.
Sun Feb 6 201102:16McGrady scores 20 points in win over Bucks
Tracy McGrady scored 20 points in the Pistons' win over the Bucks on Saturday, hitting 7-of-14 shots from the field (no threes) with two rebounds and two assists.
The scoring is nice but this is actually one of his less appealing lines recently, and he also said before the game that he's having trouble with his legs on back-to-backs. A sell-high candidate the minute he started putting up big lines, he's not exactly telling us something we didn't know.
Fri Jan 28 201123:50T-Mac just misses triple-double for Pistons
Tracy McGrady had 14 points, eight rebounds, 10 assists, four blocks and a 3-pointer on 6-of-17 shooting in Friday's tough loss.
He's starting and looking very good right now. It's anyone's guess when his legs are going to give out, but he deserves to be owned in all leagues right now.
Wed Jan 26 201123:34T-Mac stays hot as Pistons lose again
Tracy McGrady had 14 points, six boards, eight assists, a steal and a three on 4-of-9 shooting in 36 minutes.
With Rodney Stuckey hurt, T-Mac could be even better, and was already playing well enough to be owned and started in most leagues. If you want to drop a guy like Landry Fields for him, go for it.
