Wed Oct 31 201208:31Blazers decline options on Williams, Smith
The Blazers have declined the contract options on Elliot Williams and Nolan Smith.
No surprise here on either player. Williams has dealt with injury issues since being drafted and is out for the year after tearing his Achilles, while Smith has been underwhelming since being a first-round pick out of Duke in 2011.

Elliot Williams (Achilles surgery) had his cast removed in L.A. on Thursday.
Williams is in "good spirits," but he has a very long road to recovery after one of the most crippling injuries possible for a pro athlete. He's just 23 years old, so hopefully he'll return next season and stay healthy.

Mon Oct 1 201214:43Blazers not expected to waive Elliot Williams
The Blazers are not expected to waive G Elliot Williams, who had surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon recently, but have asked for a medical exception.
This is great news for Williams, although it's unclear what the Blazers would do with the exception if they get it. They would only be responsible for 50% of his salary though, which is the motivating factor behind the move.

Wed Sep 12 201215:35Elliot Williams to wait on Achilles surgery
Elliot Williams (Achilles) has not had his surgery yet, as it is likely he is waiting for the swelling in his ankle to go down before he goes under the knife.
Usually it takes about a week or so for the swelling to completely subside, after which Williams will undergo surgery to repair the Achilles he tore during voluntary workouts on Tuesday. He won't be able to step onto a court for six months post-surgery and will likely take a full year to get back to full strength. Even for those in very deep re-draft leagues, it's safe to cross him off your fantasy draft boards.

Blazers GM Chad Buchanan believes that SG Elliot Williams can earn a consistent spot in the rotation next season.
Williams once had a 48 inch vertical leap and has since had patella tendon surgery, and the little that we have heard has been relatively positive for Williams coming out of his second year. As the team is constituted right now, he has no clear path to fantasy value, but we'll watch from afar to see if he continues to rise up in the ranks.

Thu Mar 8 201220:24Williams dislocates shoulder in practice
Elliot Williams dislocated his left shoulder in Thursday's practice, and will miss at least two games.
Williams will be evaluated next week and we're calling him week-to-week. It's a bit unfortunate because his name was being kicked around for more playing time, and he'll certainly be a guy to keep tabs on over the long-term. Under the current roster configuration, though, his fantasy prospects are bleak this season.
