Wed Feb 20 2013 | 23:48 | Lavoy Allen benched on Wednesday |
Lavoy Allen had eight points, six rebounds, a steal and two blocks on Wednesday, but was benched to start the second half in favor of Damien Wilkins. |
Wilkins played 26 minutes and had 13 points, three rebounds and two assists, while Spencer Hawes was also benched after the Sixers were dominated by the Minnesota bigs. Allen has been filling in for injured Thaddeus Young, but he's due back soon and Allen's run, what little of it there was, is almost over. |

Mon Feb 11 2013 | 22:39 | Lavoy Allen falls off on Monday in loss |
Lavoy Allen played 29 minutes against the Clippers on Monday and had four points, two rebounds and one steal. |
He exploded on Saturday with 14 points and 22 boards, but there's little doubt that will be his best line of the year. Allen should be better his next time out and he had a really tough matchup with the Clippers big men putting a highlight reel together. Those that picked him up on deeper leagues shouldn't make any hasty cuts at this time. |

Sat Feb 9 2013 | 23:30 | Lavoy Allen hauls in career-high 22 rebounds |
Lavoy Allen scored 14 points and grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds (11 on the offensive glass) while starting alongside Spencer Hawes on Saturday. |
Allen also had three assists, one block and only one assist in over 41 minutes. Keep in mind, however, that this came against the Bobcats' woeful frontcourt, and Allen's 32-game sample as a starter this season is unimpressive -- 6.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 0.8 blocks in 25 minutes per game. Andrew Bynum's possible return by the end of February may squash Allen's upside, but deep-league owners should pick him up and see what happens. |

Sat Feb 9 2013 | 18:50 | Lavoy Allen is expected to start Saturday |
Lavoy Allen is expected to start next to Spencer Hawes on Saturday. |
It's not really a surprise with Kwame Brown starting in Philly's last game on Wednesday and only playing six minutes. Allen came off the bench and played 35 minutes, scoring 12 points with six boards against a good Indiana team. He's also been better at blocking shots this year with 0.9 per game in only 22.1 minutes, so he is worth a look in deeper leagues. As for Kwame, he can be let loose in 40-team formats. |

Wed Feb 6 2013 | 23:35 | Lavoy Allen goes for 12 points, 6 boards |
Lavoy Allen had 12 points, six rebounds, a steal and a block in 35 minutes on Wednesday. |
Thaddeus Young is going to miss a few weeks due to his hamstring injury and Allen will be a primary beneficiary. He's worth a look in many leagues and has somehow managed to score in double figures in three of his last four games. |

Wed Feb 6 2013 | 09:18 | Lavoy Allen expected to see more minutes |
Lavoy Allen is expected to see more minutes with Thaddeus Young (hamstring) sidelined. |
"Lavoy's been very actively, defensively," Doug Collins said. "He's getting to the right spots, rebounding the ball and looking to be aggressive on the offensive end." Allen played 30 minutes in the game where Young went down, scoring 10 points to pair with six rebounds, a steal and three blocks. |

Mon Feb 4 2013 | 21:25 | Lavoy Allen steps up w/ Thad Young injured |
Lavoy Allen had 10 points, six rebounds, one steal and three blocks on Monday, logging 30 minutes off the bench. |
Allen stepped into a bigger role after halftime due to Thaddeus Young's hamstring injury, and he may continue to play heavy minutes with Young possibly facing an extended absence. Though intriguing in deep leagues, his numbers in 32 starts this season are unimpressive -- 6.8 points, 5.7 boards, 1.0 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.8 blocks in 25 minutes per game. |

Allen's already limited fantasy value sank even further when he was replaced in the starting lineup by Spencer Hawes, With Andrew Bynum (knees) on the comeback trail, there may not be any minutes left for him. |

Thu Jan 3 2013 | 09:11 | Lavoy Allen will continue to start |
Lavoy Allen will continue to be a member of the starting lineup. |
Doug Collins believes Allen isn't as effective coming off the bench, so he'll keep him in the starting lineup. If and when Andrew Bynum ever gets healthy, Allen would likely move to power forward, but Bynum remains without a timetable to return. |

Sun Dec 23 2012 | 17:31 | Lavoy Allen just misses a double-double |
Lavoy Allen played 30 minutes against the Nets on Sunday and had 12 points and nine boards in a loss. |
After playing a combined 14 minutes on December 16 and 18, Allen has been a bigger part of the rotation in his last three games, playing 30.3 minutes per game. His upside isn't that high, so he's really only on the radar in deeper leagues. |

Tue Dec 4 2012 | 22:54 | Lavoy Allen cools off with 6 & 5 in loss |
Lavoy Allen cooled off Tuesday with six points, five rebounds, two steals and a block in 24 minutes of a blowout loss to the Wolves. |
Allen still played fairly well and looks like the deep-league center to own in Philly right now after averaging 8.5 points, 6.5 boards and a block over his last six games. |

Sun Dec 2 2012 | 10:43 | Lavoy Allen continues run as starting center |
Lavoy Allen's strong run as a starter continued on Saturday with 10 points, eight rebounds and one block in 33 minutes. |
Spencer Hawes is slumping along with a sore left knee, Kwame Brown has fallen out of the rotation and Andrew Bynum's return is up in the air. That leaves Allen pretty comfortable in the starting center spot, where (as this typical line professes) he's a low-end source of blocks and rebounds with a handful of points. |

Sat Dec 1 2012 | 02:06 | Lavoy Allen logs a double-double Friday |
Lavoy Allen had his first double-double on the season with 10 points and 10 boards to go with one block in a season-high 35 minutes on Friday. |
The 10 boards were a season high for the Villanova product. Kwame Brown played just nine minute and didn't score while Spencer Hawes scored just two points in 14 minutes. We'd still like to see Allen do it a couple more times before signing off on him in 12-team leagues. |

Mon Nov 26 2012 | 08:42 | Lavoy Allen working on his consistency |
Lavoy Allen is working on being "more consistent." |
Allen has started the last two games and has played well (8-of-13) for 19 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks, but he struggled prior to that and wants to "be out there" with his teammates. "I haven't played to the best of my ability," he admitted. Most importantly, Doug Collins seems willing to stick with him, saying that Allen has been "much better the last few games." |

Sun Nov 25 2012 | 21:01 | Lavoy Allen heats up in start at center |
Lavoy Allen had 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks in 26 minutes on Sunday, helping the 76ers hang on to defeat the visiting Suns. |
Allen showed what he's capable of during the playoffs last season, when he stonewalled Kevin Garnett defensively, and Andrew Bynum's nebulous return date gives him nice long-term upside. He's worth a look as a cheap source of rebounds and blocks. |

Sat Nov 24 2012 | 19:13 | Lavoy Allen starts at center, Kwame to bench |
Lavoy Allen will start at center on Saturday, replacing Kwame Brown at center. |
Doug Collins had hinted at starting lineup changes, though this shouldn't resonate very much in fantasy leagues. Just keep an eye on Allen tonight in case he gets the lion's share of minutes ahead of Spencer Hawes and Kwame. |

Tue Nov 20 2012 | 21:47 | Lavoy Allen plays 25 minutes, blocks four |
Lavoy Allen started the second half of Tuesday's game and had four points, six boards and four blocks in 25 minutes against the Raptors. |
Kwame Brown saw just six minutes tonight and didn't see any action in the second half. Doug Collins could be phasing him out of the rotation since Brown logged just nine minutes on Sunday. Allen is on the radar in deeper leagues. |

Wed Nov 14 2012 | 22:23 | Lavoy Allen plays well in loss to Pistons |
Lavoy Allen came off the bench for 14 points, six rebounds, a steal and a block on 6-of-10 shooting in 26 minutes on Wednesday. |
Kwame Brown was ineffective in a start and Spencer Hawes had just five points in 15 minutes tonight. Hawes still looks like the center to own in Philly until Andrew Bynum is ready, but Allen deserves a close eye by fantasy owners as well. And he'll probably be worth grabbing if he ends up winning the starting center job at some point. |
