For those wanting to make a case on Mack playing better than Jeff Teague (ankle) over the past couple months, this would likely be exhibit A. He was terrific at getting in the lane and breaking down the defense. The Hawks still owe a lot of money to Teague, so Mack will be pushed back to the bench once Teague's ankle heals. JT has a decent chance to play on Saturday vs. the Knicks.

It'll be his third start of the season and his first two games weren't his best games, averaging 12.0 points, 5.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.0 triples. Those are still solid numbers and he's worth starting in most formats. Jeff Teague is only day-to-day.

Jeff Teague had a tough night against the Heat and is in a slump, which allowed some extra minutes for Mack. The Hawks are still going to give Teague plenty of leash, so Mack is only a deep-league pickup. For what it's worth, he is playing better than almost anyone expected.

The bottom line is that he has played well as a reserve for the Hawks and Mike Budenholzer appears to trust him, and owners in standard leagues should give him a hard look as a solid, but not spectacular end-of-the-bench guy.

Shelvin Mack got hot late on Sunday, finishing with 14 points, four 3-pointers, four rebounds, three assists and two steals, but it wasn't enough for the short-handed Hawks to earn a win in Orlando.

In the Hawks' past three contests he's averaging 9.3 points, 2.0 triples, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals. The backcourt rotation will tighten up once DeMarre Carroll (thumb) returns to action, but fantasy owners should keep an eye on Mack in case his role continues to grow.

Shelvin Mack played 36 minutes against the Cavs on Thursday with 10 points, seven boards, five assists, three steals and one 3-pointer on 3-of-9 shooting.

He checked in after DeMarre Carroll's thumb injury and only checked out for one possession in the double-overtime win. Mack has been used at shooting guard before and he looks to be a short-term fix for the Hawks while Carroll is out. He can shoot the three and has a respectable 46 percent from the field this year, so he's worth a look in deep leagues on a speculative basis.

He played 20 minutes and helped make up for Friday's 1-of-9 shooting performance, while Jeff Teague watched from the bench for much of the second half. Teague is still clearly the starting point guard in Atlanta, but Mack is his primary back up and is playing well. Mack is averaging 9.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.0 3-pointers over his last five games, meaning owners in very deep leagues need to put him on the radar.

Shelvin Mack hit 7-of-9 shots and three 3-pointers for a career-high 17 points and six assists in Tuesday's loss to the Thunder.

He caught fire late and helped lead a late Hawks charge, but it wasn't enough as the Thunder held them off. Mack's been playing well as the backup point guard, but unless you're in a 20-team league or deeper, there's no reason to pick him up.

Even when playing significant minutes he is not going to produce with Jeff Teague and Lou Williams around to handle the rock. Mack can be ignored in fantasy leagues.
