Sun Jan 12 201421:34Alexey Shved shoots well, scores 11 points
Alexey Shved finished Sunday's defeat with 11 points, three rebounds and two steals in 23 minutes off the Wolves' bench, making 4-of-7 FGs with three 3-pointers.
Shved was one of the few bright spots for Minnesota tonight, but he's shooting 28.9 percent from the field this season and seems to have lost all confidence in himself on the court. Chase Budinger's return makes it even more unlikely that Shved will earn a bigger role in the second unit and owners should be skeptical until he consistently plays well.

Wed Nov 27 201309:18Alexey Shved hopes to stay with Wolves
Alexey Shved said that he hopes to remain with the Timberwolves, adding, "If I want to play more, I've got to work more."
"Basically, he hasn't played well," said coach Rick Adelman, explaining Shved's limited minutes and 24.4 percent shooting. "There's nothing [I] can do about it. I think the one thing you can do is keep talking to the guys who don't play and say 'You have to be ready.'" Shved will earn a guaranteed $3.3 million next season but the Wolves are rumored to be shopping his contract.

Sun Nov 17 201309:23Report: Wolves shopping D-Williams, Shved
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported last week that the Wolves have put Derrick Williams and Alexey Shved on the trade block.
Minnesota reportedly wants to trade their under-performing young guys for veterans who can help the team make the playoffs (and pacify Kevin Love), but thus far there have been no takers. It's not at all surprising to hear that they're being shopped around, considering Shved recently picked up his first career DNP-CD and Williams has flitted in and out of the rotation.

Sat Oct 12 201322:34Alexey Shved struggles in fill-in start at SG
Alexey Shved filled in at SG for Kevin Martin (Achilles) on Saturday, finishing with three points on 0-of-4 FGs and 3-of-6 FTs.
He added one rebound, one assist and two steals in 19 minutes. Shooting was a major weakness for Shved as a rookie, when he hit just 37.2 percent of his FGs and 72.0 percent of his FTs. With a middling assist-to-turnover ratio, and Martin expected to be fully healthy for the regular season, there isn't much of interest on Shved's fantasy horizon.

Tue Oct 1 201320:34Shved, Brewer to see bump for Wolves
Alexey Shved and Corey Brewer will see a boost in minutes with news that Chase Budinger is out indefinitely due to knee surgery.
Shved will get the minutes Budinger would have spent backing up the shooting guard spot, while Brewer now looks like he'll also be getting extra minutes at both win spots. We don't love either player from a fantasy perspective, but if Brewer starts, he could have a good year.

Mon Sep 16 201300:16Alexey Shved shows the good and badf
Alexey Shved, playing a lead role for the Russian national team, averaged the fourth-most turnovers per game (3.4) during EuroBasket.
The good news is that he also averaged 16.4 points and 4.8 assists per game, while shooting 46.5 percent from the field. Shved's rookie year with the Wolves was marred by awful shooting (37.2 percent) and a poor assist-to-turnover ratio, and his outlook hasn't improved now that Kevin Martin is starting at SG.

Tue Sep 10 201310:37Alexey Shved averages 16.4 pts at EuroBasket
Alexey Shved averaged 16.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists during the first round of EuroBasket, but Russia was eliminated after compiling a 1-4 record.
Shved committed 3.4 turnovers per game, and he shot just 5-of-16 from 3-point territory, but overall he played well in a featured role. He should enter training camp healthy and well conditioned, but he's a marginal fantasy option as long as Kevin Martin is healthy.

Tue Aug 20 201310:40Saunders addresses Shved's season outlook
Flip Saunders said that Alexey Shved and Derrick Williams "have got to produce" for the Wolves this season.
Saunders suggested that Shved is one of the team's valuable bench pieces, along with guys like J.J. Barea and Dante Cunningham. However, he added, "Players determine how much they play. If they play well, they're going to play. If they don't, they're not going to play." Shved shot just 37.2 percent from the field as a rookie, with 3.7 assists and 1.9 turnovers per game.

Mon Jun 24 201316:34Alexey Shved to play in EuroBasket w/ Russia
Alexey Shved is expected to work out in the U.S. for "much of July" while preparing for the EuroBasket tournament.
Shved joins a Russian team vying for an invite to the FIBA World Cup in 2014. The EuroBasket tourney is Sept. 4-22, and Shved will also square off against CSKA Moscow as a member of the Wolves during an exhibition match in early October. His busy summer should ensure that he'll be in good shape for training camp, though fatigue might be a concern after the All-Star break.

Tue Jun 11 201312:11Alexey Shved won't play in summer league
Alexey Shved will not play in summer league but he will play at Eurobasket for Russia.
Shved's production really dipped off toward the end of the season, but he's going to be an important piece in Minnesota's rotation. It's not clear if the team plans to use him at both point guard and shooting guard next season, but they'll expect him to take the next step in his sophomore season.

Fri Mar 15 201323:44Shved scores eight points with low-end line
Alexey Shved scored eight points on 2-of-7 shooting (including a three) with three rebounds and four assists in 19 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Shooting is going to be something that Shved needs to clean up in the offseason, as he has hit just 36.5 percent of his attempts on the year. Unless there is an injury in the Wolves backcourt, it looks like he'll stay on the wire outside of deeper formats.

Tue Mar 12 201323:52Alexey Shved breaks out in win over Spurs
Alexey Shved hit 6-of-8 shots and three 3-pointers on his way to 16 points, three rebounds, seven assists, a steal and a block in 30 minutes of Tuesday's blowout win over the Spurs.
Shved had hit double figures in scoring just once over his previous eight games and failed to score a single point in his previous game, when he played 19 minutes against the Mavericks. He showed a ton of promise early in the season, and while tonight's game was a nice reminder of what he can do, we'll have to see it a few more times before thinking he's suddenly worth a pickup in most leagues. And the fact the Wolves crushed the Spurs tonight should also be a hint that this wasn't a normal night in Minnesota.

Tue Mar 12 201309:56Adelman wants Alexey Shved to push through
Rick Adelman wants Alexey Shved to push through the "rookie wall."
Shved's production over the last eight games hasn't been anything fantasy owners could use, and he's really struggled after a promising first half of the season. "He is really struggling, but he has to find a way through it," Adelman said. Owners can do better than Shved in every format outside of extremely deep leagues.

Sun Mar 10 201322:17Alexey Shved scoreless in 19 minutes
Alexey Shved missed all seven of his shot attempts on Sunday, going scoreless with two rebounds, one assist and three turnovers in 19 minutes.
Shved has good length and a knack for playmaking, but his shot obviously needs to be overhauled this summer -- he's making 36.6 percent of his FGs (29.1 percent from downtown) and 72.3 percent of his FTs.

Thu Mar 7 201300:18Shved struggles again off Wolves' bench
Alexey Shved made 1-of-6 field goals and 2-of-4 free throws vs. the Wizards, finishing with four points in 21 minutes off the bench.
Shved added one rebound and one assist, and this saps any momentum he may have had after Monday's passable game. The Wolves have an excellent rest-of-season schedule, but owners seeking backcourt help are much better off with Luke Ridnour (15 points) or J.J. Barea (12 points).

Tue Mar 5 201308:19Alexey Shved letting little things impact him
Rick Adelman admitted that Alexey Shved is "letting things affect him."
"He's got to learn in this league that you're going to get beat down and you're going to have to respond," Adelman said. Shved shot 5-of-8 on Monday after shooting just 18.5 percent over his last four games, so hopefully he's ready to break out of his recent slide.

Sun Feb 24 201318:36Alexey Shved plays just 16 minutes Sunday
Alexey Shved played just 16 minutes off the bench and had four points and one assist on 2-of-7 shooting on Sunday.
It's the third time in his last four games in which he hasn't cracked 20 minutes. There is a serious logjam at shooting guard now that Ricky Rubio is seeing a full workload, so Shved isn't quite worth owning in standard leagues.

Sat Feb 23 201302:32Shved scores 17 points off the bench
Alexey Shved scored 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in 25 minutes off the bench on Friday.
It's good to see Shved throw the owners stashing him a bone, as he has been pretty unproductive lately. As the young guy playing with a bunch of injury prone veterans, the hope for owners is that the Wolves turn to him more down the stretch.

Mon Feb 11 201323:04Shved scores 11 points in quiet night
Alexey Shved scored 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting (including a three) with three assists and two blocks in 30 minutes off the bench on Monday.
Shved's short-term production is going to be an issue, but playing in an older, injury prone backcourt it stands to reason that he'll get more touches as the year goes on. It doesn't hurt that Luke Ridnour is in the rumor mill, and Shved is a nice stash in standard formats.

Sat Feb 9 201302:47Shved scores eight points on Friday
Alexey Shved scored eight points on 3-of-10 shooting (no threes) with four rebounds and one steal in 26 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Shved's production has slipped after a few decent games and we warned owners about his short-term outlook. Long-term, he plays in a backcourt of injury-prone players and one of them (Luke Ridnour) is already in trade rumors -- but beyond that it's probable that the Wolves look to him as the season goes on.
