Thu Feb 7 201300:55Shved slows down against the Spurs
Alexey Shved scored just seven points on 3-of-9 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, two assists, and one block in 18 minutes off the bench on Wednesday against the Spurs.
Shved's minutes are concerning but he has been mostly productive recently. His role is going to be a question mark in the short-term, but the Wolves will likely try to feed him minutes as the year goes on.

Sun Feb 3 201300:09Alexey Shved has 12 points with eight assists
Alexey Shved handed out eight assists to go with 12 points, four boards, one block and one 3-pointer on 4-of-11 shooting in Saturday's 115-86 win over New Orleans.
He had a big 18-point game on Friday, but this line is a little misleading due to garbage time. Five of Shved's eight assists came in the fourth quarter and he played the entire period. We wouldn't suggest picking him up based on this line alone.

Sat Feb 2 201302:11Shved hits five 3s with 18-4-6 line vs. LAL
Alexey Shved hit five 3-pointers and scored 18 points on 6-of-16 shooting with four rebounds and six assists in 27 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Opinions were divided over here about dropping him in standard formats, and the 'hold' group got a big win tonight. Playing behind injury prone Luke Ridnour, Ricky Rubio, and J.J. Barea, it's possible he's the last man standing even if he struggles at times with the log-jam.

Thu Jan 31 201301:02Shved plays 21 minutes, scores 12 points
Alexey Shved returned from his ankle injury on Wednesday, scoring 12 points with four assists, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 24 minutes against the Clippers.
He was cruising along earlier this year, but with Ricky Rubio on track to see a normal load in minutes and with Luke Ridnour (eight points in 24 minutes) not likely to give up his starting job, Shved isn't worth owning in standard leagues at this point.

Wed Jan 30 201319:06Alexey Shved to come off the bench Wednesday
Alexey Shved (ankle) will come off the bench Wednesday against the Clippers.
Shved had been expected to return Wednesday, but the fact that he's relegated to a bench role limits his value Luke Ridnour and Ricky Rubio seem to have a firm hold on the starting jobs in Minnesota's backcourt and J.J. Barea will battle Shved for shots with the second unit. The time to sell high on the Russian rookie appears to have passed.

Look for Shved to come off the bench behind starters Ricky Rubio and Luke Ridnour. He'll also have to battle J.J. Barea for shots with the second unit, leaving the upside capped here.

Mon Jan 28 201313:40Alexey Shved still targeting Wednesday
Alexey Shved (ankle) went through practice on Monday and could play on Wednesday.
Shved hasn't played since January 17 with his ankle injury. His return would be welcomed for a backcourt that is overextending both J.J. Barea and Luke Ridnour at shooting guard.

Mon Jan 28 201302:14Alexey Shved could return Wednesday
Alexey Shved could return from his ankle injury on Wednesday against the Clippers.
The Wolves guards are all playing well right now and Shved could be the odd man out once he's back from his injury. Unfortunately, now that he's lost his starting gig, he probably belongs on waivers for now, even if he is going to play on Wednesday.

Thu Jan 24 201315:11Alexey Shved won't play Friday vs. Wizards
Alexey Shved (ankle) will not travel with the team and won't play Friday against the Wizards.
Shved said after practice that he wanted to play, but beat writer Jerry Zgoda was more skeptical, saying Shved didn't look like he could suit up. With Shved sidelined, expect Luke Ridnour and J.J. Barea to see more time.

Wed Jan 23 201312:16Alexey Shved will not play on Wednesday
Alexey Shved (ankle) will not play on Wednesday despite returning to practice on Tuesday.

Tue Jan 22 201313:21Alexey Shved returns to practice on Tuesday
Alexey Shved (ankle) returned to practice on Tuesday.
Shved did not play on Monday and his ankle injury was believed to be at least semi-concerning, so it's a good sign that he's back in practice on Tuesday for a very depleted Timberwolves team.

Sun Jan 20 201311:59Alexey Shved (ankle) won't play on Monday
Alexey Shved (ankle) is not traveling with the Wolves for their game in Atlanta on Monday.
The short-handed Wolves play four games this week and they desperately need Shved back in the lineup, but fantasy owners are forced to bench him in weekly leagues. His status for Wednesday's home game is up in the air, leaving plenty of minutes for Ricky Rubio, Luke Ridnour and J.J. Barea.

Sat Jan 19 201312:15Alexey Shved won't play Saturday night
Alexey Shved (ankle) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Rockets.
The hits keep on coming for the extremely short-handed Wolves, who will also be without C Nikola Pekovic (quad contusion) for 7-10 days. Minnesota's next game is Monday, so check back after shootaround that morning for Shved's status. Look for Luke Ridnour and J.J. Barea to get a ton of time against the Rockets since Ricky Rubio is still limited.

Fri Jan 18 201314:08Alexey Shved misses practice Friday
Alexey Shved (ankle) did not practice Friday.
Replays of Shved's injury showed his left ankle rolling over severely. He'll be reevaluated on Saturday morning, but we'd consider him questionable at best for that night's game against the Rockets. Look for starting two-guard Luke Ridnour and reserve J.J. Barea to get all they can eat.

Thu Jan 17 201323:19Alexey Shved not wearing a walking boot
Alexey Shved (ankle) left the arena on Thursday night without a walking boot or crutches.
This comes as a surprise since there was a report that he couldn't put any weight on his right foot. Since the Wolves aren't taking extra precaution here, Shved should be considered questionable for Saturday's game against the Rockets. Although, his value took a major hit with a bench role and Luke Ridnour playing well. Owners in standard leagues may want to consider other options.

Thu Jan 17 201322:15Alexey Shved injures ankle in fourth quarter
Alexey Shved appeared to suffer an left ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Thursday's game.
He immediately hobbled to the locker room and the TNT broadcast reported that Shved was unable to put weight on his left foot. He lost his starting gig for Thursday's game and didn't seem to have a very good rapport with the second unit, so this injury news might be the straw that broke the camel's back for owners in standard leagues. We'll update his status as soon as it is available, but he might not be able to suit up against the Rockets on Saturday. His minutes will likely be split between J.J. Barea and Luke Ridnour.

Thu Jan 17 201319:54Alexey Shved moves to bench on Thursday
Alexey Shved will move to the bench for Thursday's game against the Clippers.
Shved has been cold in his last two games, shooting just 1-of-14 from the field, so perhaps that may have something to do with him moving to the second unit. He played just 23.5 minutes per game in his last two and he'll look to bounce back against a strong Clipper bench. We'll let you know how he fares in what could be his new role.
