Thu Nov 1 201802:09'A hell of a night': Derrick Rose savors his career-high 50
During the 2017-18 regular season, Derrick Rose didn't score 50 points in all of January.Or February.Or March.Or April. He was hurting, always in and out of the lineup, never in rhythm. Those problems, all his years of problems, seemed so long ago Wednesday night, when Rose was better than ever — finishing with a career-high 50 points that lifted the Minnesota Timberwolves over the Utah Jazz 125-122."I played my heart out," Rose said. "My teammates told me before the game, just play my game. And tonight was a hell of a night."That it was, by every possible measure.Rose became the fourth player already this season — it's barely two weeks old — to score at least 50 in a game, joining Blake Griffin, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. And if the 50 wasn't enough, Rose sealed the win by blocking Dante Exum's 3-pointer with about two seconds remaining.Moments later, Rose walked off the floor in tears. The game had made the 2011 NBA MVP cry before. Only this time, the emotion was all joy."I know the... [More]
Mon Sep 24 201819:27Utah Jazz open training camp focused on internal development
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah didn't make any major offseason moves but fans shouldn't mistake that for a sign the Jazz are satisfied with the status quo. With the start of training camp, Utah players and coaches are echoing the same message: Continuity doesn't equal complacency. The Jazz are focused on maximizing potential they showed toward the end of last season — with a roster that has returned mostly intact — once the regular season starts in mid-October."I don't want to pick up where we left off," coach Quin Snyder told reporters at the team's media day Monday. "That implies it's the same group beginning to do something. This is a new journey. We can take with us the experience. We can take with us the chemistry and the things we learned. But this is a new team."Nothing encapsulates that attitude better than the work various Jazz players have put in while preparing for the season.Derrick Favors and Jae Crowder dropped weight over the summer to improve their mobility and quickness in operating... Exum underwent successful surgery on his torn ACL Thursday.
Exum tore his ACL at the start of August during an exhibition game with the Australian National Team. He underwent successful surgery for it Thursday, which likely rules him out of the entire 2015-16 season. He'll now start the long road to recovery in anticipation of the 2016-17 season. Look for Trey Burke and Alec Burks to start for the Jazz in the backcourt.
Thu Aug 6 201517:18Dante Exum: Jazz Confirm Torn ACL
The Jazz confirmed Thursday that Exum has a torn ACL, Ethan Skolnick of Bleacher Report reports.
The teams worst fears were confirmed Thursday after Exum suffered the injury while playing with the Australian National Team earlier in the week. While the Jazz have not provided a recovery timetable, Exum will almost certainly miss the entire 2015-16 season. It's a crushing loss for a Utah team that found its stride after the All-Star break last season, and the injury could prompt the Jazz to make a move to add another guard as they chase a playoff spot in the West.
Tue Aug 4 201516:26Dante Exum: Suffers Knee Injury With National Team
Exum suffered a knee injury Tuesday while playing in an exhibition game with the Australian National Team, John Schuhmann of ESPN reports.
Exum's knee appeared to buckle while jump-stopping in the lane on a drive, and he was removed from the to receive medical attention. He was spotted on the bench with the knee heavily wrapped and crutches nearby. At this point, neither the Australian National Team nor the Jazz have provided a diagnosis, but Exum will fly to Utah for further evaluation.

Exum (ankle) contributed six points (3-4 FG), two rebounds, and two assists in 20 minutes for the Australian National Team on Wednesday.
Exum suffered a left ankle sprain during the first game of the Salt Lake City Summer League and missed the rest of the tournament as a precaution. His participation in international competition indicates the ankle is fully healed, and barring any setback, Exum is poised to retain the starting point guard role this season.
Sun Jul 19 201511:50Exum (ankle) feeling better
Exum (ankle) is feeling better, but he still isn't 100 percent healthy after suffering a sprained left ankle during the first game of the Salt Lake City Summer League, Jody Genessy of the Deseret News reports.
Exum hopes to be ready for the upcoming EuroBasket, and if healthy, he'll join the Australian National Team for competition beginning in September. He played all 82 games as a rookie but entered his first season with a minor ankle tweak suffered during FIBA play with team Australia.

Exum (ankle) won't play in Wednesday's Las Vegas Summer League game against the Wizards.
Exum has now been out since suffering the ankle sprain just over a week ago, and it is likely the Jazz are continuing to err on the side of caution with their young point guard. Utah has now entered tournament play in the summer league, so it is very likely he is held out till the end given that they will be playing daily.

Exum (ankle) packed on 10 pounds of muscle since the end of his rookie season, Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com reports.
Exum, who's missed the last four summer games due to a sprained left ankle, is noticeably larger. In his one summer league bout, he attempted 10 free throws, 22 less than he launched during his first year. He was extremely tentative as a rookie, rarely attacking the basket, and instead, Exum stood in the corner and launched threes. The new bulk and fermenting aggression will be a blissful sight for those clutching to Exum in keeper leagues.

Exum (ankle) won't play in Saturday's Las Vegas Summer League game against the Heat.
The Jazz are likely just erring on the side of caution Saturday as Exum deals with a minor injury to his left ankle. Exum's next opportunity to prove his health will be against the Timberwolves on Monday.

Exum (ankle) is doubtful for Thursday's summer league game against the 76ers, Jody Genessy reports.
A sprained left ankle suffered in Monday's game against the Celtics will likely sideline Exum for a second straight game. Although the injury does not appear to be serious, the Jazz are erring on the side of caution.
Tue Jul 7 201515:46Exum (ankle) will miss Tuesday's Summer League game
Exum (ankle) will miss Tuesday's Summer League game, the Deseret News reports.
A sprained left ankle suffered in Monday's contest will sideline Exum for Tuesday's tilt against San Antonio. Exum's next chance to play will come Thursday against Philadelphia.

Exum's injury does not appear to be serious at first glance, but more should be known about his status after he is reevaluated Tuesday.

Exum managed to play in all 82 games during his rookie campaign but struggled to produce, finishing with averages of 4.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.2 blocks on 22.2 minutes per game.
The hallmark of Exum's rookie season was that he overtook Trey Burke as Utah's starting point guard in January. Otherwise the 19-year-old seemed to be content with just being on the court and deferring to his teammates over the course of the season. Obviously he still has a couple more years of development before we see his full potential, but he'll head into next season as a lackluster fantasy option who should probably go undrafted across standard leagues. Exum intends to play in the summer league where he'll continue to get some much needed experience under his belt. A potential roadblock in his progression could occur if Utah decides to bring in a reliable point guard to round out their starting five. The Jazz were one of the best teams in the NBA during the second half of the season and they may have a shot to contend for a playoff spot next year if they upgrade at point guard. The question Utah's front office is currently dealing with is whether to further Exum's growth with a large workload in the 2015-16 season or if they should make an offseason acquisition in a concerted effort to push for the playoffs, thus demoting Exum to an ancillary role off the bench.

Exum is averaging 33.3 minutes per game in April but has only managed to accrue an average of 6.3 points during that time on the court.
Exum has had a steady rookie campaign but still needs a couple more seasons under his belt before he's a definitive option at point guard. Two bright spots worthy of mentioning as the season winds down are that he's yet to miss a game this season and he was able to compile a career-high 12 assists just a week ago. His clean bill of health obviously bodes well across all formats and his recent influx of assists hints that things are starting to click at just 19-years of age. Looking ahead, fellow rookie point guards such as Zach LaVine and Jordan Clarkson seem to be more enticing options heading into 2015-16, but Exum still has a lot of learning to do and appears to have the full support of the Jazz organization moving forward.
Sat Mar 28 201519:29Exum dealt will illness Friday
Exum dealt will an illness Friday, but he is not on the team's injury report and was seen warming up for Saturday's game against the Thunder, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
Exum has been a non-factor on the offensive side of the court recently. Over his last five games, he's averaged 1.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.0 steal, and 0.2 three-pointers in 21 minutes per game. Those numbers are incomprehensibly poor, and he can't be trusted in any leagues at this point.

Exum failed to score again (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) with one assist and one steal in the loss to the Warriors on Saturday.
Exum has been a complete non-factor for fantasy purposes, averaging just 2.8 points per game in 21 minutes over the past week. He clearly is lacking confidence on the offensive end, and should be ignored in all but dynasty formats.

Exum missed all five of his field goal attempts on Thursday, failing to score a point in 22 minutes of court time.
He also committed more turnovers (four) than he managed to produce in any other category (three rebounds, two assists, two steals), capping an awful night for Exum. The Jazz will likely stick with the rookie in the starting lineup for the time being, but if Trey Burke continues to outperform Exum, a change could be coming.

Exum put up 11 points (4-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt), one rebound, and three assists in Monday's victory over the Hornets.
Exum seems to have the starting point guard job on lock but fellow guard Trey Burke seems to be a better producer off the bench than the rookie. The 19-year-old Australian has a bright future although he's not quite a viable option in standard leagues quite yet.

Exum shot 5-for-6 Sunday in a win over the Nets, finishing the game with 14 points (4-4 3Pt), four rebounds, an assist and a block in 28 minutes.
This was Exum's highest point total since Jan. 22. He's been cold as of late, shooting 25 percent from the floor or worse in his five previous games. In February, he averaged just 3.1 points, 2.9 assists and two rebounds per game.
