Thu Dec 9 202110:06Jerami Grant Nets Game-High 28 Points Wednesday Night
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant led all scorers with 28 points as the team took a 119-116 overtime loss from Washington Wednesday night. He shot 6-for-16 from the field and 14-for-15 at the line, sinking both attempts from three-point range. Grant recorded five rebounds and handed out three assists with three turnovers while coming up with two steals and one block on the defensive end. The 27-year-old started to improve his form during the latter half of last month, and he's found a great rhythm in December, averaging 27.3 points per game. Meeting a Pelicans team that boasts the league's least efficient defense puts Grant in a great spot to stay hot on Friday.

Fri Dec 3 202109:13Jerami Grant Records Game-High 34 Points Against Suns
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant couldn't stop the Suns from rolling to another victory on Thursday, but he had a great game against the hottest team in the league, leading all scorers with 34 points on 10-for-19 shooting from the field. He finished 2-for-3 from downtown and 12-for-14 at the charity stripe, adding six rebounds and three assists with two steals, one block and one turnover in 38 minutes. Grant is finally remaining us how good he can be. He's now gone for 30-plus points twice in his past three games. The 27-year-old should stay hot at the start of next week as well, with Detroit hosting the Thunder, who have just given up a whopping 152 points to Memphis.

Mon Nov 29 202108:45Jerami Grant Has A 32-Point Night Against The Lakers
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant led the team with 32 points on 11-for-20 shooting in Sunday's 110-106 loss to the Lakers, hitting 4-for-6 from deep and 6-for-6 at the foul line. He added six rebounds and four assists to his tally with one block and four turnovers. It's been an up-and-down season scoring-wise for Grant, but he now boasts two 30-point efforts in his past five games, which is a very encouraging sign. The 27-year-old has a chance to maintain his momentum on Tuesday against his hometown Blazers, who sit near the bottom of the league with their 110.0 defensive efficiency.

Fri Nov 26 202120:49Jerami Grant Picks Up His First Double-Double Of The Year
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant had a chance to celebrate his first double-double of the season on Friday, finishing a 107-96 loss to the Clippers with a team-high 20 points and 10 rebounds. He also posted three assists with one turnover in 33 minutes, shooting 5-for-16 from the field and 9-for-9 at the line. If it wasn't for free throws, this would've been another disappointing offensive performance by Grant, whose game seems to have come completely unstuck since he had a breakout year in 2020-21. The 27-year-old pops up with a nice scoring performance here and there, but he's shooting barely over 40 percent from the field for the season and that's been a major contributor to his downfall.

Wed Nov 24 202108:09Jerami Grant Leads Detroit With 21 Points
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant scored a team-high 21 points on 6-for-17 shooting in Tuesday's loss to Miami, going a poor 1-for-5 from deep. He made eight of nine shots at the line and had seven rebounds and three assists with three steals and zero turnovers in 35 minutes. Grant has improved offensively in recent outings and is now averaging 28.5 points for his last two games. He's yet to have three consecutive games with 20-plus points this season, so that should be his aim on Wednesday against Milwaukee. It's easier said than done, of course, with Giannis Antetokounmpo's crew capable of shutting anyone down. The rest of the week doesn't look rosy for Grant either, with the Pistons traveling to Los Angeles for a pair of games.

Mon Nov 22 202108:02Jerami Grant Explodes For 36 Points
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant had a superb outing against the Lakers on Sunday, finishing a 121-116 loss with a game-high 36 points on 12-for-25 shooting from the field. He hit 5-for-9 from downtown and 7-for-10 at the charity stripe, grabbing four rebounds and recording three assists with one steal and one turnover in 37 minutes. Grant also had a 35-point effort against Houston earlier in the month, but he's taken a big step backward scoring-wise compared to last season. With 15 games played, this was only the second time Grant managed 20-plus points this term. Miami's tough defense will welcome Grant next, so it will be pretty difficult for him to start building momentum.

Thu Nov 11 202108:57Jerami Grant Scores Season-High 35 Points In Wednesday's Win
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant answered to a five-point dud with a season-high 35 points in Wednesday's 112-104 win over the Rockets, shooting 12-for-23 from the field and 4-for-8 from outside. He hit seven of his nine free throws and managed to collect five rebounds with three assists, two blocks and one turnover in 35 minutes. Grant had a huge year in 2020-21, but he hasn't yet hit the same heights this term, although there have been signs of improvement lately. The 27-year-old had a pair of 20-point outings last week before settling for just five points on Friday against Brooklyn. He's averaging 18.7 points per game for the season ahead of a back-to-back set against Cleveland and Toronto. These are two slow-paced teams, so it will be difficult for Grant to repeat his Wednesday's performance.

Thu Nov 4 202122:40Jerami Grant Scores Game-High 27 Points In Loss
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant dropped a game-high 27 points in a 109-98 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday. The 27-year-old also pitched in six rebounds, four assists, one block, one steal, and four turnovers in 38 minutes. Grant shot an efficient 11-for-22 from the field, including 2-for-6 from three-point range and 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Grant built off of his great shooting on Tuesday versus the Milwaukee Bucks and is starting to benefit off of defenses shifting coverage towards rookie guard Cade Cunningham. The forward has a strong role on a rebuilding Pistons team that should see him get plenty of opportunities to contribute across all categories.

Wed Nov 3 202109:16Jerami Grant Enjoys Bounce-Back In Efficiency Tuesday
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant put forth a much better performance efficiency-wise in Tuesday's blowout loss to the Bucks. After shooting 33.3 percent from the field in his last outing- Grant was much better, as he connected on 8 of 13 shot attempts while shooting 4-for-8 from deep for 21 points in 24 minutes. The Syracuse product added two rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block. It could have been an even bigger night for Grant had the Pistons not gotten blown out by Milwaukee, though it was nice to see him get back on track from an efficiency standpoint. He'll get a rematch with the 76ers on Thursday. They held him to just 14 points on 28.6 percent shooting, but he was able to rack up a bevy of defensive stats, so managers should keep him in lineups.

Sat Oct 30 202115:48Jerami Grant Expected To Be In The Lineup On Saturday
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant (oblique) is in line to play during Sunday's matchup against Orlando. The 27-year-old is currently dealing with a bruised right oblique, but it shouldn't stop him from seeing the court during what is expected to be Cade Cunningham's (ankle) official debut. Nonetheless, with the potential lingering effects of the ailment and the rookie now in the mix, Grant is a risky option for DFS purposes. However, he should remain starting in seasonal fantasy formats.

Thu Oct 28 202118:52Jerami Grant Available Thursday Against 76ers
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant (elbow), dealing with an infection in his left elbow, will suit up for Thursday's game against Philadelphia. Grant missed Thursday's practice and was considered a game-time call- but appears to be healthy enough to suit up after being sidelined for just one contest. The 27-year-old has been excellent on the defensive end this season, averaging 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game, though his inefficient shooting has limited his upside somewhat early on in this year. He's still worth starting for the defensive stats alone. Kelly Olynyk loses some DFS appeal, as he'll head back to a bench role.

Wed Oct 27 202120:46Jerami Grant Questionable For Thursday
Detroit Pistons power forward Jerami Grant (elbow) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Grant was a game time decision for the team's most recent game against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday and he was ruled out just before tip-off. He is dealing with a left elbow infection. It doesn't sound like anything major, but he may miss another game or two. Kelly Olynyk joined the starting lineup on Monday and went on to deliver a big game with 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, two threes and two steals. He'd be a great DFS target if Grant ends up sitting again.

Mon Oct 25 202114:13Jerami Grant Could Miss Monday's Game
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant (elbow) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. He is dealing with a left elbow infection, which does not sound good for his status on Monday. Fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if Grant is forced to miss time from this issue. Saddiq Bey and Hamidou Diallo, and possibly Trey Lyles would be asked to fill in, assuming Grant misses time. None of them are great fantasy options, but Bey has the most upside of the trio.

Thu Oct 21 202110:33Jerami Grant Scores 24 Points In Loss To Bulls
Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant led the team in scoring in their season opener against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. He dropped 24 points while shooting 8-for-20 from the field and 5-for-5 from the line. He hit three three-pointers in the game and also racked up six rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and only one turnover. Grant had a breakout year in his first season with the Pistons in 2020-21. He averaged 22.3 points, 2.1 three-pointers and 1.1 blocks per game. He's sure to have some off nights from the field, but he should stuff the stat sheet more often than not throughout the year.

Tue May 25 202121:01Knicks' Julius Randle wins NBA's Most Improved Player award
NEW YORK (AP) — Julius Randle is in his seventh season, later than the usual Most Improved Player winner. He is aware of the notion that by then, players have already shown what they are in the NBA and they're not going to get any better. He also knows he's not that type of player. “For me, it’s always about continuing to improve,” Randle said. He did that across the board this season and was rewarded Tuesday with a runaway in the voting for the award after leading the New York Knicks to the playoffs. Randle received 98 first-place votes from a panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters. His son, Kyden, delivered the award to Randle while his team was on the practice floor after he became the first Knicks player to win the Most Improved Player award. He wants to be the second, too. Randle said his goal is to win the award again next season. He doesn't know if he could actually get it again, but he plans to make another improvement regardless of the recognition. “For me it’s about constantly... [More]
Tue May 25 202119:31Knicks' Julius Randle wins NBA's Most Improved Player award
NEW YORK (AP) — Julius Randle was voted the NBA's Most Improved Player on Tuesday after leading the New York Knicks to the playoffs during his best season. Randle was a runaway winner after earning his first All-Star berth in his seventh NBA season, receiving 98 first-place votes from a panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters. Randle averaged 24.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 6.0 assists, ranking in the NBA's top 20 in all three categories, while playing an NBA-high 37.6 minutes. Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Russell Westbrook and Nikola Jokic (who also did it this season) are the only other players to have a 24-10-6 season. Beyond his stats, Randle was the clear leader of a Knicks team that had missed the playoffs the last seven years and wasn't expected to make them this season. Instead, they went 41-31 and earned the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. But Randle had a disappointing postseason debut in Game 1, shooting 6 of 23 for 15 points in the Knicks' 107-105... Mon May 17 202117:26Pistons finish near the bottom but have reasons for optimism
DETROIT (AP) — Troy Weaver's first season as Detroit's general manager ended with the Pistons holding the second-worst record in the league. Finally, though, it felt like the future looks a little brighter for this franchise. “Obviously, the optimism is not in the record, because the record stinks," Weaver said Monday. "We'll continue to fight — claw, scratch, fight, whatever we've got to do to get out of this hole.” For over a decade now, the Pistons have been mired in mediocrity, rarely making the playoffs and exiting quickly whenever they did. Detroit began rebuilding in earnest in early 2020, moving on from Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson. Then Weaver arrived and made an even clearer break from the past, implementing a thorough overhaul in a matter of months. The result was a 20-52 record, but the roster now includes a few promising rookies. Detroit showed some competitive spirit this year, but the Pistons were still bad enough to lock in one of the top six picks in the draft no matter... [More]
Tue May 4 202122:52Hornets hold on for crucial 102-99 win over Pistons
DETROIT (AP) — LaMelo Ball scored 23 points, including two free throws with 5.8 seconds left, and the Charlotte Hornets took another step toward the postseason with a 102-99 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night. Detroit trailed by two when rookie Killian Hayes was fouled with 9.4 seconds remaining, but he made just one of two free throws. Ball made his free throws at the other end, and Hayes missed a last-second 3-pointer. Hamidou Diallo scored a career-high 35 points for Detroit. The Hornets are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference and are in solid shape to make it at least to the play-in round. They are two games behind seventh-place Boston. “Every game’s important late in the season,” Charlotte's Terry Rozier said. “Melo came in and put us on his back.” Charlotte was without Miles Bridges, who was out because of health and safety protocols. “I don’t know the extent, the days. We have not confirmed that yet," coach James Borrego said before the game. “What that means,... [More]

Thu Apr 29 202118:00Mavericks' Doncic to miss game at Detroit with elbow issue
DETROIT (AP) — Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is out for Thursday night's game at Detroit because of a left elbow issue. Coach Rick Carlisle said Dorian Finney-Smith (left leg) is also out, but Kristaps Porzingis (left ankle) and Josh Richardson (right hamstring) are available. Detroit is without several players, including Jerami Grant (right knee), Mason Plumlee (rest) and Wayne Ellington (calf). Doncic is third in the NBA in scoring at 28.6 points per game. He is coming off a 39-point performance in a win over Golden State on Tuesday night. This will be the sixth game he's missed this season. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/nba and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
