Marcus Smart Injury Update

The Celtics were without Jayson Tatum for Saturday's meeting with Toronto, as the MVP candidate got the day off to deal with wrist soreness. Luckily, the C's recently got Jaylen Brown back from a three-game layoff, so the team at least had its No. 2 scoring option. Boston also had Marcus Smart, who is proficient on both ends of the floor.Unfortunately, the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year's evening didn't last long, as he exited in the first half after suffering a sprained right ankle. Smart has battled ankle injuries throughout his career, so fantasy managers are familiar with this.https://twitter.com/ChrisForsberg_/status/1616933981362028546?s=20&t=ADA6dM_t2muMcgq6cJRitwWhile X-ray results were encouraging, revealing no structural damage, he'll likely miss a game or two, possibly more. Sat Jan 21 202320:46Cameron Johnson Resting Against Indiana
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson (knee) won't play on Saturday against the Pacers. The 26-year-old returned from a lengthy layoff on Thursday versus the Brooklyn Nets, scoring 19 points in 21 minutes of work. However, he will get a night off to rest before presumably returning for Sunday's meeting with the visiting Grizzlies. Nevertheless, without Johnson in the lineup, Dario Saric will get the spot start, with the veteran averaging 9.2 points and 4.4 rebounds while shooting a whopping 48.5% from deep in 10 starts this season. Considering Devin Booker (groin), Deandre Ayton (illness), and Chris Paul (hip) are also out, there's room for Saric to be more productive.

Thu Jan 19 202321:35Cameron Johnson To Be Limited On Thursday
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson (knee) will be on a minutes limit for Thursday's game against the Brooklyn Nets. The 26-year-old is working his way back from right knee surgery. That being said, it's not shocking to see the Suns being cautious with their young forward. The organization hasn't revealed how much Johnson will play or whether it'll be in the starting unit or off the bench. Nonetheless, Johnson won't have much streaming value right away, but he should be a reliable option once he's back up to full speed. In the meantime, Torrey Craig will likely shift to the bench and see less playing time going forward. It doesn't sound like Craig is going to be worth streaming for much longer.

LaMelo Ball Injury Update

LaMelo Ball exited Monday's meeting with the Rockets with a sprained left ankle. This is an all too familiar ailment, as the 21-year-old injured it twice already this season. He missed the first 13 games of the 2022-23 campaign because of it before making his season debut on November 12 against Miami.https://twitter.com/HornetsOnBally/status/1615898994508546048?s=20&t=2ONmwk9cIuX1k5z8xOpxsQUnfortunately, the 2020 No. 3 overall pick was incapacitated again after stepping on a fan's foot during a matchup with Indiana just a few days later, keeping him sidelined for an additional 11 games. Now, it appears fantasy managers will be without Ball for a while, considering he needed help getting to the locker room. With ... [More]

Donovan Mitchell Injury Update

Donovan Mitchell has been on a tear in his first season as a Cavalier, averaging a career-high 28.8 points per game. The 26-year-old has certainly made an impact, so there is naturally some concern surrounding his most recent injury, a groin strain, suffered during Monday's win over the Pelicans.https://twitter.com/ChrisFedor/status/1615106299636719632?s=20&t=nIB5An7gWfmmxjT49g7LLAMitchell exited in the third quarter and did not return to the contest, finishing with 11 points in 22 minutes. The former Louisville Cardinal has stayed relatively healthy in 2022-23, missing only five games. However, with the Cavs looking to make a deep run into the postseason, Mitchell may miss some games, beginning with Wednesday's meeting in Memphis.https://twitter.com/AmicoHoops/status/1615116579011690502?s=20&t=8uEcBgsFXrfQNXVsKuQmNAWithout him in the lineup, others will have to step up. Wed Jan 11 202321:01Cameron Johnson Does 1-On-1 Work
Phoenix Suns guard Cameron Johnson (knee) has been able to do 1-on-1 work, according to head coach Monty Williams. This is great news, as Johnson is working his way back from a right meniscus tear in early November. The organization hasn't given a timetable for his return, but it sounds like Johnson is making progress. Torrey Craig is expected to remain in the starting five while Johnson is out. He's worth rostering in deep leagues right now, but he doesn't have much value outside of that.

Mon Nov 14 202214:53Suns Offered Cameron Johnson Significant Deal
Phoenix Suns guard Cameron Johnson (knee) is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn meniscus. The organization reportedly offered Johnson a deal in the range of four years $66-$72 million. The 26-year-old decided not to sign the extension and the deadline to sign those deals has passed. That being said, Johnson will become a restricted free agent next summer. He'll likely still get a strong deal, but the right meniscus tear is certainly going to be a concern to some teams. The potential is certainly there for Johnson, so hopefully this injury isn't a setback to his career.

Sun Nov 6 202214:39Cameron Johnson Heading For Surgery
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson (knee) was diagnosed with a torn right meniscus and will go under the knife. The 26-year-old moved into the starting lineup this season and has made the most of it, averaging a career-high 13.0 points and shooting 43.1% from deep. He doesn't have a timetable for a return. However, Torrey Craig figures to take Johnson's spot in the lineup for the foreseeable future. Craig only had five points in 22 minutes in Saturday's win over Portland. However, he had three blocks and a steal. With that said, Craig has an upside, although he will likely be a hit-or-miss fantasy option moving ahead.

Sun Nov 6 202200:59Cameron Johnson Believed To Have Suffered Torn Meniscus
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson (knee) is believed to have torn the meniscus in his right knee. He will undergo further testing and imaging, although the team is expecting the worst. The 26-year-old moved into the starting lineup this season in place of Jae Crowder. He's played well in his new role, averaging 13.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 steals while shooting an impressive 43.1% from deep. It's unknown how long Johnson will be out, but there's a good chance fantasy managers won't see him again in 2022-23. If that's the case, Torrey Craig, who started in Saturday night's win over the Trail Blazers, should continue to receive more minutes.

Sat Nov 5 202208:05Cameron Johnson Suffers A Knee Injury
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson left Friday's loss to Portland with a right knee injury. He got hurt very early on and ended up logging just five minutes in the game. There have been reports of him leaving the arena on crutches, so it's not looking good for the 25-year-old, who has enjoyed a very solid start to the season and who entered Friday's action after getting a season-high 29 points against Minnesota. Torrey Craig soaked in most of Johnson's minutes and should play a significantly bigger role moving forward if his teammate indeed suffered a serious injury. Craig amassed eight points with six rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes Friday night.

Wed Nov 2 202208:24Cameron Johnson Enjoys Great Shooting Night On Tuesday
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson poured in buckets on Tuesday night in the team's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. He shot a scorching 63.6% from deep and 58.8% overall on his way to 29 points. That's an above 60% shooting clip on 11 three-point attempts. He also added two rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block to top it off. While the team is still trying to move on from Jae Crowder, Johnson continues to get more opportunities and can be a nice value play in deeper leagues.

Sun Oct 23 202215:29Cameron Johnson Questionable With Hip Injury
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson (hip) is questionable to play Sunday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. Johnson suffered a hip contusion after taking a hard fall in Friday's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Johnson was able to finish the game, but was limited to just 22 minutes and was limited in Saturday's practice. Damion Lee was the main benefactor for the Suns in Johnson's absence with 30 minutes off bench, contributing eight points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. If Johnson is unable to go, the Suns will likely turn to Damion Lee or Torrey Craig to pick up the extra minutes.

Sat Oct 22 202218:19Cameron Johnson Practices On Saturday
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson (hip) was able to get up shots during practice on Saturday. It sounds like Johnson is questionable for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The team is likely going to wait and see how his body responds to Saturday's workload. His absence would mean more playing time for Torrey Craig. He's not a great streaming option, but could be worth a look in deep leagues, assuming Johnson is unable to play.

Mon Oct 17 202222:12Cameron Johnson Doesn't Sign Extension
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson was unable to come to terms on an extension with the organization. That being said, Johnson will become a restricted free agent after this season. The 26-year-old is expected to have a bigger role in Phoenix this season with Jae Crowder no longer around. Johnson was productive last season and should be a reliable 9-cat fantasy option. The Suns will have the opportunity to match any offer that Johnson receives next offseason. He'll need to step up his play this season if he wants a big payday next summer.

Sat Oct 8 202211:53Cameron Johnson To Be Re-Evaluated
Phoenix Suns guard Cameron Johnson (thumb) is going to be shut down for at least one week. He injured his shooting thumb during their second preseason game, which forced him out of the game after only four minutes. The team will re-evaluate Johnson after he rests for a week. Once he's healthy, Johnson is going to be the starting power forward for the Suns this season. He was productive last season and should be a fine 9-cat fantasy option this season.

Sun Sep 11 202214:36Suns, Cameron Johnson Talking Contract Extension
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson and the team are actively discussing a contract extension. The 26-year-old averaged 12.5 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting an impressive 42.5% from deep last season. It's unknown how much Phoenix is willing to shell out to keep him on the roster. However, Johnson appears to have plenty of untapped potential, so he should continue to produce for fantasy managers, no matter where he's playing throughout his career.

Sun Jul 31 202214:22Cameron Johnson Wants To Be Late-Game Option
Phoenix Suns guard Cameron Johnson has been working hard to become a reliable option late in games as a ball-dominant player. Johnson mentioned that he focused on other areas once he got into the league. Now, the 26-year-old wants to get back to being a dominant player like he was in high school. It's great to hear that Johnson wants more responsibility next season. Although, he'll still likely have a reserve role, so it could be tough for him to get significant minutes. That being said, Johnson seems like a risky choice for standard leagues heading into the season. Time will tell if the Suns actually trust Johnson enough to be a late-game option.

Thu Apr 28 202219:41Cameron Johnson Back To The Bench On Thursday
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson will head back to the bench for the pivotal Game 6 playoff meeting with the New Orleans Pelicans. Devin Booker (hamstring) will return after a three-game absence. However, Booker may not receive as much playing time as usual, so there's still a chance Johnson can exceed the value of his DFS asking price. Managers should keep him in mind, especially since Vegas projects the Suns to lead the abbreviate slate in points.

Sun Apr 3 202218:43Landry Shamet, Cameron Johnson Starting Sunday
Phoenix Suns guard Landry Shamet, forward Cameron Johnson and center JaVale McGee will be part of the starting five for Sunday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. They'll be joining regular starters Chris Paul and Mikal Bridges on the court. Usual starters Devin Booker (rest), Deandre Ayton (rest) and Jae Crowder (ankle) are all out for the game. Shamet, Johnson and McGee are all very much worthy of streaming for Sunday's game, especially given the favorable matchup. Shamet and Johnson should see a lot of usage and produce a good amount of three-pointers and points. McGee, meanwhile, will be a solid source of rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage.

Fri Apr 1 202218:47Cameron Johnson Set To Return On Friday
Phoenix Suns forward Cameron Johnson (quad) will officially be active for Friday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. A right quad contusion led to Johnson being sidelined for about a month. The last time we saw him on the court was March 4, when he lit up the New York Knicks with 38 points. Johnson is averaging 12.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.7 three-pointers per game on the year. With his return, we should see Torrey Craig's minutes reduced. Johnson may also give the team the luxury of reducing Jae Crowder's workload down the stretch.
