Fri Jun 22 201209:34Kendrick Perkins played through torn groin
Kendrick Perkins played the final three games of the NBA Finals with a torn groin, league sources tell Yahoo! Sports.
This would explain a lot about Perkins' lackluster performance at times. We'll give Perk credit for gutting through what sounds like a very painful injury, but this emphasizes the fact that Scott Brooks should have used more of Nick Collison rather than continuing to trot Perkins out there. There is no word yet on if Perkins will require surgery.

Sun Jun 3 201206:41Kendrick Perkins excels in Thunder victory
Kendrick Perkins made 7-of-9 FGs in 33 minutes on Saturday, finishing with 15 points, nine rebounds, one block and three turnovers.
Perkins and Serge Ibaka scored a combined 39 points, an unexpected role-player punch that helped send the Spurs back to San Antonio with a losing streak. Perkins on-court leadership is touted by all of his teammates past and present, and his stellar screens are often overlooked in favor of his physicality and scowling demeanor. Just don't expect more scoring -- this was his 10th double-digit game of the season.

No surprise here. Despite being far less than 100 percent, Perkins will continue to trot out there and play physical defense inside against the Lakers big men.

Fri May 18 201214:19Perkins (hip) not close to 80% healthy
Kendrick Perkins (hip) says he's not even close to 80 percent, healthy but he's going to continue to "do what I can to give up my body for the team."
Perkins at less than full strength certainly raises some red flags, but most expect him to play in Game 3 on Friday. Perk played 31 minutes on Wednesday and was a big asset in helping to defend Andrew Bynum. Nazr Mohammed will also chip in with front-court minutes for OKC as they try to take a commanding 3-0 lead on Friday night.

Perkins aggravated his hip strain during Game 1, but he returned to the bench after going to the locker room and could have re-entered the game. We will have an update on his status before tipoff on Wednesday night, but it wouldn't be surprising if Perk was limited in some fashion with the injury.

Tue May 15 201200:18Perkins iffy after aggravating hip injury
Kendrick Perkins aggravated his hip injury on Monday and finished with four points, one rebound and two blocks in 17 minutes.
He was available to return after going to the locker room, but wasn't needed in the easy blowout. Consider him questionable for Wednesday's Game 2, but given that he could have returned tonight, don't be surprised to see him back in the starting lineup for that one.

Mon May 14 201223:16Kendrick Perkins aggravates hip injury
Kendrick Perkins left Monday's game after appearing to aggravate his hip injury, that had him a bit questionable coming in, and went straight to the locker room.
He wasn't on a minutes count or said to be limited, but he went up for a dunk and was clearly in pain when he came back down. It's likely an aggravation of his previous injury, but could also be his groin. Either way, Serge Ibaka's value in this series just went through the roof, while Nick Collison and Nazr Mohammed are also going to get plenty of run for as long as Perkins is out. Update: Perkins is back on the bench and available if needed, but whether he'll play again in this blowout remains to be seen.

Kendrick Perkins (strained hip) is considered a true game-time decision for Game 1 vs. the Lakers on Monday.
Perkins' health could be central to this series, as the Thunder need him to control Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol inside (something the Nuggets could not do in Game 7). He was spotted shooting around again on Sunday and continues to slowly increase his activity, but we're unlikely to learn his status until close to the 9:30 ET tip-off.
