Perkins (quad) will not play Tuesday against Memphis, Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman reports. |
Perkins is nursing a quad injury that's kept him out since late-September, but he should be nearing a return. With Serge Ibaka (ankle) also out Tuesday, Steven Adams figures to see plenty of minutes. |
Tue Oct 7 2014 | 17:55 | Perkins (quadriceps) will not play in Wednesday's preseason game |
Perkins (quadriceps) will not play in Wednesday's preseason game, the Oklahoman's Anthony Slater reports. |
This is around the time when Perkins was expected to be reevaluated, and although he hasn't been cleared to play in Wednesday's exhibition, there's still no reason to think he won't be ready for the regular season. |
Thu Sep 25 2014 | 16:47 | Perkins (quad) sustained quad injury and will miss start of trai... |
Perkins (quad) sustained a quad injury and will miss the start of training camp, Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman reports. |
The big man will be reevaluated in two weeks, at which point it will be determined whether he's ready to ramp up his activity during camp. While Perkins will almost certainly be ready for the regular season, the setback could give Steven Adams the upper hand in the battle for the starting center spot. Perkins has the veteran edge, but he was much maligned for his play last season and Adams is indisputably more active on both ends of the floor. |
Fri Jun 27 2014 | 09:20 | Miami could go after Kendrick Perkins |
According to Chris Broussard of ESPN.com, the Heat could make a run at acquiring Kendrick Perkins. |
Needless to say, things will have to go horribly wrong for the Heat to make a move on Perkins. He has one year left on his deal and his decline as a big man has been a precipitous one. The Thunder added Michigan center Mitch McGary in the draft to make Big Perk even more expendable. |

Thu Jun 5 2014 | 14:18 | Kendrick Perkins may avoid being amnestied |
Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti said on Thursday that the team has not discussed whether to use the amnesty clause on Kendrick Perkins. |
"It's not something that's been considered to this point," he said. Perk's production has dipped every season he has been in Oklahoma City, and the development of Steven Adams may soon render him expendable. He is set to make $9.4M next season, the fourth highest salary on the team. With OKC already tight against the salary cap, they may change their tune on the big man when the free agency period comes around. Perkins should not be on fantasy radars heading in to next season. |

Sun Jun 1 2014 | 15:54 | Kendrick Perkins says OKC was outsmarted |
Kendrick Perkins said Oklahoma City was outsmarted by San Antonio. |
"The Spurs, they weren't more athletic than us, they weren't more talented than us, they just outsmarted us," Perkins said. Coach Scott Brooks probably gave Perkins more minutes than he deserved, which may have been part of the problem. Brooks also tightened his rotation in Saturday's loss and he'll get a popular target for falling short in the playoffs again. |

Sun Jun 1 2014 | 13:13 | Scott Brooks uncertain on Kendrick Perkins |
When Scott Brooks was asked whether it was time to "turn the page" on Kendrick Perkins the coach was reluctant to give a definitive answer. |
"That remains to be seen," said Brooks. "There's a lot of work to be done this summer." Perkins finished the 2013-14 season with averages of 3.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks while averaging 20 minutes per game. Those are not the numbers of a serviceable center in the NBA, and it's a bit curious as to what exactly "remains to be seen." While Brooks may be uncertain with what he's doing with his lineups, fantasy owners can be certain that Perkins is not a viable asset. |

Tue Apr 8 2014 | 15:46 | Kendrick Perkins probable for back-to-backs |
Kendrick Perkins (groin) is expected to play in both of Oklahoma City's back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday. |
The Thunder were initially planning to rest him one game during their remaining back-to-back sets, but it appears he's progressed nicely since returning. Even though he won't get a DNP, his poor production and minimal playing time ensure that he will not help fantasy owners. |

Mon Apr 7 2014 | 00:13 | Kendrick Perkins plays 13 minutes in return |
Kendrick Perkins (groin) returned to action on Sunday and played 13 minutes, finishing with four points and three rebounds. |
OKC is very cautiously plugging him back into the rotation and he will not play in back-to-back games during the regular season. He offers no fantasy value of his own, and his presence ensures that rookie Steven Adams (DNP-CD) will also be a non-factor. |

Fri Apr 4 2014 | 09:27 | Kendrick Perkins won't play Friday |
Kendrick Perkins will sit out Friday's game against the Rockets for rest purposes. |
Perkins is getting the same treatment as Russell Westbrook, which means he won't play on back-to-backs. Steven Adams will likely draw the start against either Dwight Howard (ankle) or Omer Asik. |

Fri Apr 4 2014 | 00:05 | Kendrick Perkins returns on Thursday |
Kendrick Perkins (groin) did not score in his return on Thursday, adding one board and one assist in 12 minutes. |
Luckily for the Thunder, he didn't take any shots tonight and only played 12 minutes. They were running all over the Spurs tonight with a whopping 30 points in fast break, which is not exactly Perk's forte. He can be left alone in all leagues. |

Thu Apr 3 2014 | 18:30 | Kendrick Perkins (groin) returns on Thursday |
Kendrick Perkins will return from his groin injury on Thursday, but he'll be limited to 10 minutes of action. |
OKC will ease him back into the rotation with five minutes in each half, and neither Perkins nor rookie center Steven Adams are remotely trustworthy for fantasy owners. |

Wed Apr 2 2014 | 13:42 | Kendrick Perkins (groin) practices Wednesday |
Kendrick Perkins (groin) practiced on Wednesday and could return for Thursday's game vs. the Spurs. |
Thunder rookie Steven Adams hasn't done much in 19 starts with Perkins out, averaging 3.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 17 minutes per game. OKC's center position is a desert for fantasy value. |

Fri Mar 28 2014 | 12:07 | Kendrick Perkins getting closer to returning |
Kendrick Perkins (groin) underwent rigorous individual drills after Friday's team shootaround. |
Perkins is targeting a late-March return and this latest news would seem to have him on target for a potential return against the Rockets next Friday. Perkins won't have much fantasy value upon his return other than diminishing Steven Adams' value as the rookie would likely return to the bench once Perkins is healthy. |

Wed Mar 26 2014 | 21:20 | Kendrick Perkins hoping to return next Friday |
Kendrick Perkins (groin) is hoping to return to action next Friday vs. the Rockets. |
That is still nine days away, so a lot can happy. The Thunder are not really missing Perkins and he can be left on the wire in all formats. Steven Adams would likely move back into a bench role. |

Tue Feb 25 2014 | 11:22 | Kendrick Perkins will miss up to six weeks |
Kendrick Perkins will miss up to six weeks after undergoing surgery on his groin. |
Perkins suffered a left groin strain against the Heat on Thursday and will essentially miss the rest of the regular season with this timetable. Perkins' averages of 3.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks weren't helping fantasy owners much anyway, but he can be dropped without any regrets at this point. Nick Collison, Perry Jones III, and Steven Adams will each inherit a chunk Perkins' 19.7 minutes per game, with Adams providing the most upside for owners in deep leagues. |

Fri Feb 21 2014 | 13:35 | Kendrick Perkins headed for MRI on groin |
Kendrick Perkins will have an MRI on his left groin later Friday. |
Perkins did not practice Friday after sustaining what looked like a pull against the Heat Thursday night. The Thunder are better off getting Nick Collison and Steven Adams more minutes anyway. |

Thu Feb 20 2014 | 21:47 | Kendrick Perkins (groin strain) out for game |
Kendrick Perkins suffered a groin strain on Thursday night and will not return. |
He had a collision and pulled his groin. Perkins walked back to the locker room under his own power and the severity of his injury is not yet know. He did not have a very good night against the Heat for the second time in a row, finishing with no points and one board in eight minutes. Steven Adams will likely get some minutes, but is not worth picking up in almost any league. |

Wed Feb 19 2014 | 14:30 | Kendrick Perkins will start vs. Heat |
Kendrick Perkins will start vs. the Heat on Thursday night. |
This wouldn't normally be news, but Perkins played just five minutes against the Heat in their last game. Those five minutes may have been the worst five he's played all year, which is saying something. Coach Scott Brooks said he could make adjustments, so obviously fantasy owners should not be looking to use Perk in any situation. |

Thu Feb 6 2014 | 01:17 | Kendrick Perkins makes some noise vs. MIN |
Kendrick Perkins hit just 2-of-7 shots but finished with six points, 12 rebounds and a steal in Wednesday's win. |
The 12 boards matched his season high, but he's only hit double figures in rebounds three times all season. And the fact he shot it so poorly and failed to block a shot make the strong boards nearly irrelevant, although he shouldn't have been in fantasy lineups to begin with. |
