Mon Dec 27 201022:42Arenas, Nelson both fizzling for Orlando
Gilbert Arenas and Jameer Nelson both struggled on Monday, but the Magic crushed the Nets for their third straight win.
Arenas had nine points, four rebounds and three dimes in 20 minutes, while Nelson had six points and seven assists in 27 minutes. Something's going to have to give here, but for now Nelson remains the starter. Both players are borderline fantasy starters at this point, but both players should also be held until Stan Van Gundy figures this out.
Fri Dec 24 201010:05Arenas satisfied w/ bench role
The Magic want to play Gilbert Arenas 28-32 minutes per game, and Stan Van Gundy hasn't ruled out starting him, but Arenas is happy with his bench role.
"I'm coming off the bench," Arenas said. "Jameer's starting and Jason [Richardson].that's the group. I'm coming off the bench and I do what I do. I don't want to start. This team is too talented." Either way it looks like he's acclimated to Orlando is should be back in all fantasy lineups.

Thu Dec 23 201022:53Arenas has best game yet with Magic.
Gilbert Arenas clearly had his best game with his new team on Thursday, with 14 points, two threes, nine assists, six rebounds, and a steal in 29 minutes off the bench.
This is a huge relief for his owners. The minutes were better in this game, but perhaps more importantly going forward is that the game changed when he came in. He was dominant at times, and he single-handedly gave the Magic momentum late in the first quarter which they never lost. His role on the team is not yet defined, but games like this will get him on the court.
Thu Dec 23 201010:41SVG won't rule out Arenas as starter
Coach Stan Van Gundy hinted that Gilbert Arenas could end up as a starter at some point.
When asked about Arenas coming off the bench, Van Gundy said: "I don't think that's necessarily permanent. This is my third day." Van Gundy is going to try all kinds of combinations as he tries to fit all the new pieces in correctly. There's still hope for Arenas to get in the starting five and be a fantasy asset.

Tue Dec 21 201023:54Arenas scores two points vs. Mavs
Gilbert Arenas struggled on Tuesday against the Mavs, hitting just 1-of-6 shots from the field to finish with two points, two rebounds, and four assists in 17 foul-plagued minutes.
Yuck. He was really pressing tonight, but owners need to be patient here. You're not selling him this low, so hang in while the Magic figure things out. On the bright side, Chris Webber and Kevin McHale said that they believed he would eventually start at PG, though our sources say that this is highly doubtful.

Mon Dec 20 201023:32Arenas scores 10 points off the bench
Gilbert Arenas scored 10 points off the bench in his Magic debut on Monday, hitting of-11 shots from the field (including a three) with one rebound and three assists in 27 minutes.
Everybody was off a bit in tonight's game, but owners need to get used to the fact that he'll be inconsistent coming off the bench -- and that's not going to change unless the Magic start losing a lot of games. He will be needed to back up both guard positions and could even spell Hedo Turkoglu at times. Because of his versatility, and the other guys lack thereof, he will be the Magic's sixth man for the foreseeable future.
Mon Dec 20 201012:26New Magic players ready to go on Monday
Gilbert Arenas, Earl Clark, Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu all are in Atlanta and will play vs. the Hawks on Monday.
The Magic cancelled their shootaround because not everyone involved in the recent trades had cleared their physical yet, so it will be a true work-in-progress for Orlando tonight. Stan Van Gundy will complete his pre-game availability by 6pm EST, so check back for details on what the starting lineup will look like.
Mon Dec 20 201009:36Gilbert Arenas says goodbye to Wiz fans
Gilbert Arenas offered a heartfelt goodbye to Wizards fans on Sunday, saying, "I hope when it's all said and done, I entertained you...and you can forgive me as a man for the mistakes I've made."
"They made me feel like a rock star while I was there," said Arenas. "I wish I could have took them further than the second round." He personally thanked owner Ted Leonsis for giving him "a chance to regain some basketball respect," and we're all excited to see what the next chapter in his career will bring -- in a Magic uniform alongside Dwight Howard.

Sun Dec 19 201001:23Arenas volunteers to come off the bench
Gilbert Arenas volunteered to come off the bench as the Magic's sixth man on Saturday, saying he believes that Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu should start at SG and SF, respectively.
He doesn't make the calls, but it's probably good news that he's willing to embrace a role off the bench since Richardson has started most of his career and Hedo needs all the help he can get right now and a starting job could boost his confidence and production. As for Arenas' overall value, it takes a small hit going to Orlando where touches will be lessened and the games have lower scores.

Sat Dec 18 201019:25New Magic players to debut on Mon vs. Hawks
Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, and Earl Clark will meet the Magic in Atlanta on Monday, take their physicals, and then debut against the Hawks that night.
Just in time for the Magic's four-game week. Given the number of teams that have two games (or even one like Toronto), each of them other than Clark deserve starting consideration.

Sat Dec 18 201015:54Arenas officially traded to Magic for Rashard
Gilbert Arenas has officially been traded to the Magic for Rashard Lewis.
Orlando had concerns about Arenas' health and the $62.4 million left on his contract, but he's 29 years old and has shown flashes of his old explosive self this season. He seems best suited to playing SG, which would shift Jason Richardson to SF, and the alternative is to make Arenas the PG while Jameer Nelson comes off the bench. However you slice it, Stan Van Gundy now has copious offensive firepower at his disposal -- and a defensive MVP to clean things up at the other end.
Sat Dec 18 201014:31Magic, Wiz close to Arenas-for-Rashard swap
The Magic and Wizards are apparently close to agreeing on a one-for-one trade involving Gilbert Arenas and Rashard Lewis.
This aligns with the rumors that have been boiling over for the past few days, and the contracts match up financially. Lewis could thrive at his natural position of SF in Washington, while his arrival would seriously hamper the already-shaky value of Al Thornton and Josh Howard. Arenas would be joining a stacked backcourt that includes Jameer Nelson and (potentially) Jason Richardson.

Sat Dec 18 201012:58Magic coach, owners reluctant to add Arenas?
According to CBS Sports, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy is "extremely reluctant" to add Gilbert Arenas to the roster, and the team's ownership also has "reservations" about the size of his contract.
Another source pegs the trade talks at "8 out of 10," and a deal involving Rashard Lewis still feels inevitable despite these warning signs coming out of Orlando. The Suns and Hedo Turkoglu continue to surface in discussions as well, either as part of the Arenas trade or as a separate deal involving Vince Carter.

Sat Dec 18 201010:11Arenas should play Sat. amidst trade talk
Talks between the Wizards and Magic continue to heat up, according to the Washington Post, but Gilbert Arenas is expected to play for Washington vs. the Heat on Saturday.
Anything can happen at this point, and even if Arenas does play he could still find himself wearing a new uniform by Monday. He recently called himself "the odd man out" on a youthful Wizards roster, and has a strong relationship with Magic GM Otis Smith -- and Orlando has enough pieces to absorb the three years and $62.4 million remaining on his contract.

Sat Dec 18 201002:05Source: Arenas to ORL done, debut Monday
There are conflicting reports regarding the imminence of a potential trade sending Gilbert Arenas to the the Magic, but at least one has said the deal is done and that he will debut on Monday against the Hawks.
One other report says the deal is not "imminent," but all of the reports suggest that the sides are serious and by all appearances this trade is going down. Early reports suggested that Vince Carter and Marcin Gortat would be headed to the Wizards, but a recent report has Rashard Lewis possibly being the key piece with another trade involving the former pair in the works. Stay tuned.

Fri Dec 17 201020:42Report: Arenas could be headed to Orlando
Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Magic and Wizards are in serious discussions about a trade that would send Gilbert Arenas to the Magic.
Arenas has apparently been telling insiders that he expects to be traded to the Magic soon, where he'd play for GM Otis Smith, who was Arenas' mentor years ago in Golden State. We still don't know who would go to Washington, but the expiring contract of Vince Carter, or a guy like Marcin Gortat, who's on a long-term deal, make sense. If the Wizards got Gortat it would hurt the value of Javale McGee. Stay tuned.

Wed Dec 15 201001:46Arenas double-doubles with Wall out
Gilbert Arenas played through foot soreness and scored 11 points on 5-of-15 shooting (1-of-7 from downtown) with two rebounds, 10 assists, one steal, and one block in the Wizards' 103-89 loss to the Lakers on Tuesday.
John Wall (knee) was out, hence, the bump in assists for Arenas. Kirk Hinrich started in Wall's place and scored seven points on 3-of-10 shooting with five rebounds and four assists, and could be worth a look as long as Wall is out.
Tue Dec 14 201018:05Arenas to play w/ special molded shoes
As expected, Gilbert Arenas will play on Tuesday despite soreness.
Arenas will wear special molded shoes tonight, an indication that the vague "soreness" he is feeling has to do with his feet. Washington needs him healthy and effective with John Wall (knee) on the mend.
Mon Dec 13 201013:20Arenas probable for Tuesday despite soreness
Gilbert Arenas is expected to play on Tuesday despite unspecified soreness.
This isn't too troubling since he's probable to play, but any time Arenas is ailing the alarm bells go off. That is, assuming he's not faking this injury.

Wed Dec 8 201008:11Arenas to keep starting?
Gilbert Arenas admitted he did not know if he will stick in the starting lineup.
Arenas and John Wall started together in the backcourt for just the second time all season Tuesday night. We think the lineup will stick. It's the Wizards' most talented unit and Arenas is proving he can play the "two" effectively. This is bad news for Kirk Hinrich, who is now a drop candidate in fantasy.
