Mon Dec 12 201100:05Magic will have to pay all of Arenas' salary

Sun Dec 11 201118:42Gilbert Arenas drawing interest from NJ Nets?
Gilbert Arenas is "expected to attract some interest" from the Nets.
Interesting. Arenas is hoping that he lands on the same team as Dwight Howard once he's dealt, and now it's revealed that Deron Williams inquired about Arenas earlier this week. New Jersey is thought to be battling Los Angeles (Lakers) for Howard, but it's to be determined if either club would welcome Arenas onto the roster.

Sun Dec 11 201118:10Gilbert Arenas clears waivers, now free agent
Gilbert Arenas has cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent.
The Hawks are thought to be interested in the point guard, and it appears his agent's desire for his client to go unclaimed came to fruition. There should be a few clubs willing to at least kick the tires on Arenas, but he's going to have to really play the role of good soldier well in order to fit in wherever he lands next. Stein also reports that Arenas is hoping to land on the same team that trades for Dwight Howard.

Sun Dec 11 201112:41Gilbert Arenas will be FA at 6pm on Sunday
Gilbert Arenas will become an unrestricted free agent if no team claims him off waivers by 6pm on Sunday.
Arenas' agent has been trying to discourage teams from claiming him, as he wants to choose his next team. The Hawks have expressed interest in him, an intriguing possibility with Jamal Crawford heading out of town.

Sat Dec 10 201115:06Report: Hawks interested in Gilbert Arenas
The Hawks are interested in Gilbert Arenas, according to coach Larry Drew.
Arenas is an intriguing target, as he could be a steal if he actually stays healthy and plays smart (some pretty big 'ifs'). The Hawks' interest makes sense -- with Jamal Crawford possibly leaving via free agency, they may need to add some bench scoring and backcourt depth.

Fri Dec 9 201114:42Report: Gilbert Arenas waived by Magic
Gilbert Arenas has been waived by the Magic.
They exercised the amnesty clause to do so, which means Areans will (probably) be bid on by teams under the cap. He's sure to land somewhere and has looked fairly good in some recent exhibitions. Using a late-round flier on him probably makes sense, depending on where he ends up.

Sun Nov 13 201120:22Gilbert Arenas not showing lift on Sunday
Gilbert Arenas isn't running well, nor showing much lift in Sunday's exhibition game.
This sounds much like the Arenas of last season, and while it's possible he's just out of shape, it continues to be obvious that his best days are behind him. At this point, he's nothing more than a late-round flier in fantasy leagues - assuming we have a season.

Sun Oct 9 201109:47Players, owners have discussed Arenas clause
NBA owners and players have discussed a "Gilbert Arenas" clause in negotiations.
Arenas' bloated contract is often pointed to when discussing contracts that hamper an NBA franchise. The "Arenas clause" would give teams a "one-time chance to remove an overpaid, unproductive player from their salary ledgers and luxury-tax rolls." It would definitely make for an interesting free agent market if and when such a clause is instituted.

Thu Aug 4 201117:37Arenas trying to keep ex off reality show
Gilbert Arenas is attempting to stop his former live-in girlfriend, Laura Govan, from appearing in the upcoming season of Basketball Wives.
He's suing the show in hopes of keeping her off the air, as she would likely have quite a bit of interesting dirt on Arenas, as she is the mother of four of his children.

Fri Jul 15 201100:35Arenas hints Wiz management leaked gun story
Gilbert Arenas hinted on his entertaining Twitter feed that the Wizards front office leaked his gun story to the press.
"Everyone knows about my troubles last year...the only reason you do know about it is because my money making days were up...as long as you are making somebody lots of money they will let you do what ever you want..when your time is up they will expose you to the world," tweeted Arenas, among other things. It's an interesting theory but has some issues, including how the Wizards could manage the leak to their benefit.

Sun Jul 3 201111:43Arenas laments lack of freedom in Orlando
Gilbert Arenas wrote on Twitter that he had "zero percent freedom" playing with the Magic last season.
"Now you have a scorer who is scared to shoot the ball because if he misses he starts looking over his shoulder," wrote Arenas. "No player can play like that. The three best games I had were when I knew I couldn't get pulled." Arenas has been Tweeting like mad since the lockout began, under the handle @agentzeroshow.

Sun Jun 19 201110:27Dwight Howard defends Arenas, criticizes SVG
Dwight Howard said recently that he feels Gilbert Arenas wasn't used properly by coach Stan Van Gundy.
"I just felt like he didn't get the opportunity to play his style, but also play with me," said Howard, referring to Arenas' main role with the second unit. More importantly, Howard also said that Arenas "promised me this summer he was going to get better, physically and mentally, so he can come back and have an awesome year."

Wed Jun 8 201114:56Arenas fined for comments made on Twitter
The NBA has fined Gilbert Arenas an undisclosed amount for comments he made on his Twitter account.
The league hasn't said what comments it specifically took issue with. Meanwhile, Arenas wasted no time in going back on the offensive via Twitter, writing "its okay it all evens it self out..i get fined from the nba........im stealing cable from my neighbors..so bam bam jackpot...hahaha". We generally appreciate Arenas' bizarre sense of humor, but taunting the league shortly after being fined might not be the wisest choice.

Tue Apr 26 201109:02Arenas will get burn despite J-Rich's return
Coach Stan Van Gundy confirmed that Gilbert Arenas will see action in Tuesday's Game 5 even though Jason Richardson (suspension) is returning.
Arenas was benched for the second half of Game 2 and all of Game 3, but then poured in 20 points in 22 minutes in Game 4. Now that Richardson is back, Arenas will have a shorter leash but will still play. "I'm not stupid," Van Gundy said. We would strongly bet against Arenas coming close to duplicating his breakout performance.

Sun Apr 24 201122:17Arenas comes to life in loss to Hawks
Gilbert Arenas came to life on Sunday, hitting 9-of-18 shots and a 3-pointer for 20 points, five rebounds and two assists.
While this is good news for the future of Arenas, it's a pretty sad commentary on what is happening to the Magic, who simply do not match up with the Hawks, and now look like a one-man team, with that man being Dwight Howard.

Sat Apr 23 201110:25GIlbert Arenas picks up DNP-CD on Friday
Gilbert Arenas was a DNP-CD during Game 3 on Friday, the first time he's been benched all game since being acquired by the Magic in December.
Arenas hasn't looked comfortable in his role in Orlando, and he lacks the explosion that made him such a threat before knee injuries derailed his career. The Magic's highest-paid player has been passed on the depth chart by J.J. Redick, Quentin Richardson, and even Chris Duhon.

Thu Apr 21 201114:03Arenas getting demoted?
Coach Stan Van Gundy said he isn't sure if Gilbert Arenas will handle backup point guard duties in Game 3 against the Hawks.
Arenas isn't dealing with a new injury -- he is simply a liability out there. The Magic are better off going with Hedo Turkoglu as a point forward when Jameer Nelson needs a break -- and Van Gundy knows it.

Sat Apr 16 201122:22Arenas (knee) plays, but totally ineffective
Gilbert Arenas (knee) played in Saturday's game, scoring six points on 2-of-5 shooting (including a three) with no rebounds, four assists, three turnovers, and one steal in 12 minutes.
This line doesn't do his actual horrible play any justice, and we wonder if he has completely given up after a tumultuous couple of years. He can't run, jump, dribble, or stay healthy -- and last we checked those are the basic job duties of a basketball player.

Thu Apr 14 201110:13Arenas will be ready for playoffs
Gilbert Arenas (knee) will be available for Game 1 against the Hawks Saturday.
Arenas is battling sore right knees, but there is no structural damage in either one. He'll just get out there for limited, ineffective minutes when Jameer Nelson needs a break.

Wed Apr 13 201111:29Arenas out on Wednesday
Gilbert Arenas (knees) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Pacers.
The MRI on Arenas' right knee came back "fine," which means it just showed more of the same. He has soreness, swelling and the explosiveness has been sapped out of both knees. Jameer Nelson will play tonight.
