Fri Mar 18 201115:46Arenas still masquerading as a SG for ORL
The Magic continue to give Gilbert Arenas minutes at shooting guard, in the hopes that he'll adapt to the position and give them more options.
J.J. Redick's abdominal injury has resurrected the Arenas-as-SG experiment, which has mostly been a failure due to his poor shooting and decision-making. Unfortunately, even with Redick out there is no reason to own Arenas in fantasy leagues.

Wed Mar 16 201123:50Arenas struggles despite absence of Redick
Gilbert Arenas hit just 2-of-6 shots for five points, two assists and a 3-pointer in Wednesday's win.
J.J. Redick is out with an abdominal injury, but Arenas still can't get it going for Stan Van Gundy. He's either lost a step and a half, is still injured, or simply doesn't fit the mold for SVG. Leave him on waivers.

Sun Mar 13 201118:42Gilbert Arenas gives Magic spark off bench
Gilbert Arenas provided the Magic with a boost from the bench on Sunday scoring 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting with two 3-pointers, five rebounds, an assist and three steals.
That's not a bad line for Arenas who's had his share of struggles this season. It also ties his highest scoring output since December. Congrats if you had him in your lineup on Sunday.

Thu Mar 10 201102:26Arenas scores 12 points in 17 minutes
Gilbert Arenas played just 17 minutes on Wednesday, but jacked up nine shots, hitting five of them and a couple threes for 12 points and three assists.
He's playing through knee soreness, but the limited minutes will make his a pretty risky fantasy play despite the fact he's been playing better of late.

Mon Mar 7 201123:32Arenas (knee) plays on Monday against POR
Gilbert Arenas (knee) played on Monday against the Blazers, scoring nine points on 4-of-9 shooting (including a three) with four rebounds, two assists, and six turnovers in 27 minutes.
He just doesn't get separation anymore and until we see evidence that he can, he isn't worth too much of our time in standard leagues. Magic fans have to be wondering why Otis Smith took on Arenas' huge contract at this point.

Mon Mar 7 201118:41Arenas will play for Magic on Monday
According to a team representative, Gilbert Arenas will play for the Magic on Monday when they face the Trail Blazers.
When healthy Arenas is capable of posting some decent lines. Unfortunately it's been months since Arenas has been healthy. While it looks like he'll play, don't expect to see much out of Arenas.

Mon Mar 7 201112:12SVG:Arenas, Duhon a 'little bit questionable'
According to coach Stan Van Gundy, Gilbert Arenas (leg) and Chris Duhon (flu) are both "a little questionable" for Monday's game against the Trail Blazers.
Arenas has been dealing with soreness in his left leg. Add this to his already lengthy list of health issues this season. With Arenas and Duhon both iffy expect to see a lot of Jameer Nelson and possibly Hedo Turkoglu running the point.

Fri Mar 4 201109:41Gilbert Arenas slowed by calf soreness
Gilbert Arenas was sidelined by "left calf soreness" on Tuesday, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
The injury was reported as a knee issue, which fits with Arenas' recent health woes, but it seems this was a different ailment. Stan Van Gundy said that strengthening exercises could alleviate the problem and Arenas did play fairly well on Thursday, but his role is too limited off the bench for reliable value.

Thu Mar 3 201123:40Gilbert plays, shows some signs of life
Gilbert Arenas played through a knee injury on Thursday and made three 3-pointers, finishing with 11 points.
He has made seven 3's over his last two games, but at 17 minutes per, you can find better options.

Wed Mar 2 201115:53Arenas practices, plans to play Thursday
Gilbert Arenas (knee) practiced on Wednesday and will play against the Heat on Thursday.
Arenas' surgically repaired knee has turned him into a shell of the man formerly known as Agent Zero. He's a poor bet to top 25 minutes at any point the rest of the way.

Wed Mar 2 201110:56Arenas listed as day-to-day
Gilbert Arenas (knee) is listed as day to day.
Arenas left knee acted up on him just before tipoff last night and he was forced to sit out. The concern is that this is the same knee that Arenas has had multiple surgeries on. Fantasy owners should have moved on awhile ago.

Tue Mar 1 201119:26Arenas out of Tuesday's game with sore knee
Gilbert Arenas did not play in Tuesday's game due to a sore left knee.
While Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu have been net positives for the Magic, the decision to take on Arenas' contract is still a head-scratcher. As for missing time, we're all for it if he can get healed up -- since that's the only he'll matter in fantasy leagues.

Sun Feb 27 201121:21Arenas scores 16 points for Magic
Gilbert Arenas scored 16 points in 16 minutes on Sunday, shooting 5-of-7 from the field (including 4-of-6 from downtown) with three rebounds and two assists.
This is a mixed blessing -- it's nice to see Arenas play well for once, but it's depressing that a 16-point game needs to be highlighted. And make no mistake, this does deserve attention -- it's the most he's scored since way back on December 28th.
Mon Feb 14 201111:45Gilbert Arenas wants to be more aggressive
Gilbert Arenas now says that his struggles stem partly from his lack of aggression.
"I think for us to be successful, I need to have to start trying to dominate the second unit," Arenas said. He's also blamed his poor play on the transition from scorer to playmaker, his arthritic knee, the weather, and what he ate for breakfast. Things can't get much worse for him, but we're not expecting a miracle surge in the coming month.

Mon Feb 7 201110:08Gilbert Arenas, aka 'Mr. February'
Gilbert Arenas said that as a natural scorer, "When you have to make plays, it's just weird. I catch myself not being aggressive, so when I do turn it on, I don't have a rhythm."
Arenas then called himself "Mr. February" because Orlando plays more at home, where the weather is warm and his knee will be looser. He has a plethora of (mostly valid) excuses for his poor play, but fantasy owners shouldn't expect a sudden return to the Arenas of old.

Sun Feb 6 201123:12Arenas 'dazed' following offensive rebound
Gilbert Arenas blamed his scoreless game on Sunday (0-of-7 shooting) on the game's early start time, a blow he took following an offensive rebound, and his decision to eat breakfast.
The veteran guard said "I haven't liked the 2 o'clock games in the past because I can't eat breakfast...[But on Sunday] I figured I'd put food in my system. So I came into the game a little weary, I guess when I got the offensive rebound, I don't know who hit me, but I got hit a little hard, was a little dazed." All we can do is shrug and point out that since joining the Magic he's averaging career-lows in points (8.7) and field goal percentage (36.7%). It doesn't sound like the hit he took will jeopardize his availability.

Sun Feb 6 201118:03Arenas is blanked by Boston defense
Gilbert Arenas failed to score on Sunday going 0-for-7 from the floor in less than 15 minutes of play.
Arenas has clearly had an off year but this may mark a low point. His knee has been bothering him over the past few weeks and he was seen struggling up and down the floor. At this point he has no business being played on a fantasy squad.
Fri Feb 4 201121:41Arenas heads back to the Verizon Center
Gilbert Arenas went back to Washington for the first time since getting traded and receiving a mostly warm reception, and scored 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting (no threes) with six rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block in 24 minutes.
Coaches often give players run against their old squads, in particular a case like this, so we wouldn't read into the result too much. News also hit the wire that he was served during halftime of Thursday's game by an ex-girlfriend for child custody issues, as things never are dull with Arenas.

Tue Feb 1 201100:34Arenas returns from sore knee on Monday
Gilbert Arenas has 10 points, three rebounds and three assists on 4-of-9 shooting in 23 minutes on Monday after missing his last game with a sore knee.
Despite Jameer Nelson not playing at an extremely high level, Arenas just can't seem to do much more than what he did tonight. If you want to cut him, you wouldn't be crazy.
Mon Jan 31 201117:36Arenas warming up, may play Monday
Gilbert Arenas (knee) is warming up prior to Monday's game, and beat writer Joshua Robbins takes a "guess" that he will play.
Arenas' fantasy owners may want to get a weather report for each city he plays in, as his arthritic knee worsens in certain conditions. We recommend keeping him benched in favor of a more certain option this week.
