Wed Jun 18 2014 | 17:48 | John Lucas expected back for next year |
John Lucas is expected to be back for the second year of his deal with the Jazz. |
The Jazz could wind up trading him, but if not he has a non-guaranteed deal until January. Lucas drew six starts last season with Trey Burke out due to injury, but didn't play well with his 27.9 percent from the field in those outings. He has no fantasy value. |

Sun Mar 16 2014 | 21:45 | John Lucas III (ankle) returns to action Sun. |
John Lucas III (right ankle sprain) played three minutes in his return on Sunday, scoring one point at the free throw line. |
Needless to say, Lucas shouldn't be on any fantasy rosters as long as starting PG Trey Burke and primary backup Diante Garrett are both healthy. |

Sun Mar 16 2014 | 13:12 | John Lucas (ankle) could play on Sunday |
John Lucas (ankle) went through shootaround on Sunday, and said he's ready to play if called upon. |
Lucas is nothing more than a backup, and he is averaging 4.1 points and essentially nothing else on the season. Leave him on the wire. |

Sat Mar 15 2014 | 20:14 | John Lucas III is a game-time call Sunday |
John Lucas III (ankle) is a game-time decision for Sunday's game vs. the Spurs. |
He is out of his walking boot and has a shot to be active. Lucas is out of the rotation anyway, so he can be ignored everywhere with respect to fantasy leagues. |

Fri Mar 14 2014 | 19:28 | John Lucas III still out on Friday |
John Lucas III (ankle) will not play against the Clippers on Friday. |
He is out of his walking boot and should make it back in the near future. Still, Lucas has no fantasy value with Trey Burke healthy, Diante Garrett playing well and Alec Burks also handling the ball more. |

Wed Mar 12 2014 | 19:59 | John Lucas III won't play on Wednesday |
John Lucas III (ankle) will not play against the Mavericks on Wednesday. |
He is in a walking boot and could miss more time. Lucas has fallen to third on the point-guard depth chart and has no fantasy value. |

Tue Mar 11 2014 | 14:50 | John Lucas sprains ankle, game-time Wednesday |
John Lucas sprained his ankle during Tuesday's practice and will be a game-time decision on Wednesday. |
Lucas' availability vs. the Mavs shouldn't have any impact on fantasy lineups. He's played five minutes in the past five games combined, and is shooting just 33.7 percent on the season. |

Sun Mar 2 2014 | 23:09 | John Lucas doesn't leave Jazz bench Sunday |
John Lucas did not leave Utah's bench during Sunday's loss to the Pacers. |
Lucas sat out Friday's shootaround with a stomach ailment but his absence on Sunday was more in line with a DNP-CD. He's played a total of nine minutes in Utah's past nine games. |

Fri Feb 28 2014 | 10:53 | John Lucas questionable for Friday |
John Lucas (illness) is questionable for Friday's game against the Cavs. |
Per the Jazz, Lucas is dealing with "gastric distress." He was likely to be a DNP-CD anyway. |

Fri Jan 31 2014 | 15:35 | John Lucas is a game-time call Friday |
John Lucas (back) is a game-time decision to face the Warriors on Friday. |
He has a lower back strain from his 21 minutes of action on Monday. Lucas won't have fantasy value in almost any league unless Trey Burke (illness) can't go. |

Thu Nov 14 2013 | 01:58 | John Lucas misses all seven shots |
John Lucas missed all seven of his field goal attempts on Wednesday, finishing with one point, one board, no assists and two turnovers in 15 minutes. |
He lost his playing time to Diante Garrett tonight, which is pretty much all you need to know about his outlook until Trey Burke is out. Lucas is one the least valuable starting point guard in fantasy right now. |

Mon Nov 11 2013 | 19:27 | John Lucas will start on Monday night |
John Lucas will start at point guard in Monday night's game against the Nuggets. |
He wasn't the starter, but was basically getting starters' minutes at 27.4 per game. Lucas has done a decent job running the offense, but coach Ty Corbin will stick him with the first unit a little more than he's been doing. This isn't much of a bump to his low fantasy value. |

Sat Nov 2 2013 | 02:51 | Lucas struggles in start at point guard |
John Lucas started at point guard for the Jazz on Friday, hitting just 2-of-10 shots for five points with just one assist to his stat line in 31 minutes. |
Ouch. Even when he's getting the minutes he's no lock to produce, and unless you're in a deeper format there's not a whole lot to see here. Backup Jamaal Tinsley played 17 minutes and had four points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal. |

Thu Oct 31 2013 | 00:55 | John Lucas plays 37 minutes vs. Thunder |
John Lucas played 37 minutes against the Thunder on Wednesday, shooting 2-of-7 from the field for eight points with one board, five assists and two 3-pointers. |
Jamaal Tinsley played just eight minutes off the bench, so the starting point guard job clearly looks like it's Lucas' to lose. Although, Trey Burke was out of his splint today, so JL3 might not be keeping his job for too long. |

Wed Oct 30 2013 | 12:51 | John Lucas listed as 'probable' starting PG |
John Lucas III is listed as the probable starting PG for Utah on Wednesday. |
The lineup is a placeholder and Tyrone Corbin can change it prior to tip-off, but it seems Lucas has edged out Jamaal Tinsley for the starting job. Lucas had a forgettable preseason but he's worth a look for a handful of 3-pointers and assists until Trey Burke (finger) returns. |

Tue Oct 29 2013 | 12:05 | John Lucas may not start season opener |
The Jazz haven't decided whether to start John Lucas III or Jamaal Tinsley at point guard for Wednesday's opener. |
Tinsley just signed with the Jazz on October 26th, but Lucas apparently opened the door for Tinsley to usurp him with a relatively ineffective preseason. Neither player is a great option in anything but deeper leagues, but a point guard getting starter's minutes is still worth keeping on your radar. |

Wed Oct 23 2013 | 14:23 | John Lucas starting again on Wednesday |
John Lucas will make another start at point guard on Wednesday. |
He hasn't looked like a starter and had a couple ugly bricks against the Lakers on Tuesday. This preseason, Lucas is shooting just 35.5 percent from the field and has only 2.4 assists per game in 20.8 minutes. He'll join Gordon Hayward, Richard Jefferson, Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter in the starting lineup. Lucas could win the starting job, so he's on the radar in very deep leagues. Alec Burks didn't look bad in the point-guard role on Tuesday and will likely get some more opportunities to run the offense again. |

Wed Oct 23 2013 | 01:14 | John Lucas quiet in start for Jazz |
John Lucas hit 3-of-9 shots and a 3-pointer for eight points, one rebound, two assists and a steal as the starting point guard. |
Lucas hasn't exactly torn it up in the preseason but is the starting point guard because of Trey Burke's broken finger. Lucas should be one of the last point guards taken in fantasy drafts. |

Sun Oct 13 2013 | 09:13 | Jazz may have interest in Marquis Teague? |
Trey Burke's fractured index finger may prompt the Jazz to "revisit" previous trade interest in Bulls' PG Marquis Teague, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. |
John Lucas III is capable of starting at PG temporarily, but one way or another Utah needs to add another ball-handler to the roster. The Bulls have Kirk Hinrich and Teague as depth behind Derrick Rose, and it's unclear if they'd have any interest in a trade with the rebuilding Jazz. |
