Freeland continues to fill in for the injured Robin Lopez, most recently grabbing a career-high 17 rebounds Friday night against the 76ers, in addition to scoring six points (3-7 FG).
This was just Freeland's sixth career start, so there's not a ton to go on here. His previous high for rebounds this season was just seven, and he hasn't scored more than eight points in a game even without Lopez. So, chances are Freeland never approached 17 rebounds again.

Freeland tallied just two points (1-2 FG), two rebounds, and one block in 16 minutes during Saturday's shellacking of the Hornets in New Orleans.
While he didn't impress in the box score during his second consecutive start for Robin Lopez (hand), Freeland flustered Anthony Davis with his defense, aiding in the sensation's poor shooting performance (3-of-14 from the floor). Freeland eventually fouled out, but his comrades Chris Kaman and Thomas Robinson picked up the slack offensively, combining for 28 points and 10 boards in 41 minutes off the bench. Coach Terry Stotts has yet to commit to a starting center in place of Lopez, but if the Blazers continue to succeed with the current rotation, Freeland could pick up the nod on a consistent basis. Keep in mind, though, that Freeland has so far averaged 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks in 17 minutes in Lopez's absence, so only deep-league owners are advised to consider a roster spot for the Englishman.

Freeland will start again Saturday against New Orleans, the Oregonian reports.
The 27-year-old made just his second career start Friday in place of Robin Lopez (hand), recording eight points, six rebounds, one assist and one block in 21 minutes. With Lopez expected to miss 6-to-7 weeks, the door is open for Freeland to continue starting for Portland, though veteran Chris Kaman will likely also inherit a good number of Lopez's minutes.

Freeland started in place of Robin Lopez (hand) on Friday and was able to record eight points, six rebounds, one assist, and one block during his 21 minutes on the court.
Freeland is averaging just 10.8 minutes per game this season, although he will most likely see a significant increase on that number for as long as Lopez stays off the court. In comparison to fellow center Chris Kaman, Freeland played just three more minutes than the veteran and they will likely divvy up the minutes that the absence of Lopez is leaving.

Freeland will start for the Trail Blazers on Friday against the Spurs, CSN Northwest reports.
Freeland will receive the start Friday in place of the injured Robin Lopez. He is averaging just 10 minutes on the season, but will likely receive a bump for Friday's game with his start.

Freeland came off the bench during Wednesday's win versus the Bucks, during which he supplied six points (3-4 FG, 0-1 FT) and six rebounds in 13 minutes.
There was a belief that Freeland would enter the starting lineup to fill the void left behind by Robin Lopez (hand), but coach Terry Stotts instead turned to Thomas Robinson, who responded with 15 points and 16 rebounds in 29 minutes. The situation at center is subject to change from game-to-game, allowing the possibility for Freeland to garner starts during Lopez's 6-to-7 weeks on the pine. As a result, Freeland's production may not be consistent enough to establish standard league relevance.

Freeland is currently penciled in as the Blazers' starting center for Wednesday's matchup with Milwaukee.
With Robin Lopez (hand) on the shelf for the next month-and-a-half, Freeland is the most logical choice to move into the starting lineup. It's no guarantee, however, as coach Terry Stotts could look to experiment with multiple lineups in Lopez's absence. Freeland is currently averaging 2.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10.2 minutes per game.

Freeland notched six points (3-6 FG) and four boards in 15 minutes during Monday's win against the Spurs.
Freeland's line was nothing to write home about, but he's in line for more work following the fractured hand suffered by center Robin Lopez in the same game. Because coach Terry Stotts is reluctant to hand Chris Kaman additional run -- Kaman is averaging 19 minutes nightly this season -- Lopez's void must be filled by someone, and Stotts doesn't consider fellow big men Meyers Leonard and Thomas Robinson to be true fives. Consequently, Freeland is the logical candidate to slot in next to LaMarcus Aldridge in the starting lineup, which should result in a modest uptick in the Englishman's output this season (2.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10 minutes per game).

Freeland came off the bench Thursday against the Mavericks after missing the past two games with a foot problem.
This was just Freeland's third game of the season, and appeared in only four minutes. He has 16 minutes between those three games, and has yet to score a single point all year.

Freeland (foot) will suit up for Thursday's game against the Mavericks, The Columbian reports.
Freeland missed Portland's past two games due to a foot problem, but will be back available for Thursday's contest. The Englishman will likely serve as the Blazers' third-string center behind starter Robin Lopez and reserve Chris Kaman.

Freeland (foot) is considered "probable" for Thursday's game against the Mavericks.
Freeland played just 12 minutes over the Blazers' first two games of the season, and is expected to see a limited role upon his return to action. A sprained foot kept him out of action Tuesday, but barring any setbacks, he should make his return to the court following a two-game absence.

Freeland (foot) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Cavaliers, The Columbian reports.
Freeland will miss his second straight game due to the sore foot. Given that he was a game-time call for Tuesday's contest, it seems he has a decent chance to return to action in the Trail Blazers' next game Thursday.

Freeland (foot) is firmly a game-time call for Tuesday's game against the Cavaliers, Erik Gundersen of The Oregonian reports
Freeland has a sprained left foot, which kept him out of Sunday's loss to the Warriors. While there's about a 50-50 chance he plays Tuesday, he did admit that if the game were taking place Monday, he would not be ready to go. More information should come during Tuesday's shootaround, so continue to keep a close eye on Freeland's status in advance of Tuesday's game.

Freeland (foot) has officially been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Warriors, the Oregonian reports.
Freeland was listed as doubtful, so it was a long shot he was ever going to play Sunday. He shouldn't have much fantasy value going forward, especially with Meyers Leonard back in the lineup.

Freeland has a left foot sprain and is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Warriors, the Blazers' official site reports.
Freeland has been a minor contributor for Portland through two games, averaging 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 blocks in six minutes per game. He'll likely sit out Sunday, and his place in the rotation is in jeopardy going forward thanks to the return of Meyers Leonard from an illness.
Sat Jul 12 201410:50Joel Freeland to skip EuroBasket qualifier
Blazers big man Joel Freeland will not compete with Great Britain in their EuroBasket qualifying event this summer.
Freeland will instead stay in Portland to train with the Blazers. He averaged 14 minutes off the bench before a knee injury shut him down last season, but he's now fully recovered and will also play for Portland's Summer League team in Las Vegas. The arrival of Chris Kaman makes Freeland an afterthought for fantasy owners.

Fri May 16 201415:47Joel Freeland will play in summer league
Joel Freeland said he will play in Las Vegas Summer League in July.
This is good news after a knee injury cost him two months during the season. Freeland made it back for the regular-season finale and played just 24 minutes in the postseason. He's unlikely to be anything more than a backup next season.

Mon Apr 14 201401:06Joel Freeland (knee) doesn't leave bench Sun.
Joel Freeland (knee) was available to play on Sunday, but he never entered the game during a thrilling OT victory vs. the Warriors.
Blazers coach Terry Stotts has shown a willingness to deploy Freeland in his second unit, but tonight wasn't a good night to return a rusty player to the rotation after months of inactivity.

Sun Apr 13 201419:19Joel Freeland (MCL) active for Sunday's game
Joel Freeland (sprained MCL) will be active for Sunday's game.
Freeland hasn't played in two months and he's unlikely to get more than a few minutes off the bench, but his return is great news for the Blazers with the playoffs on the horizon. He'll likely steal the few minutes that Meyers Leonard was getting, while also challenging Thomas Robinson for playing time.
