Wed Oct 27 2010 | 13:14 | Daye adds bulk for second year, starting gig |
Austin Daye is reportedly at 208 lbs. after playing at 195 lbs. as a rookie. |
205 is still quite slim for a 6-foot-11 player, but he's not in the starting lineup to put the "power" in power forward. Daye will be very far from the best rebounding PF out there, but he should make up for it with solid contributions in threes and blocks. We wouldn't hesitate to put him into fantasy lineups for Detroit's season opener. |

Sat Oct 23 2010 | 14:32 | Daye will start for Pistons |
The Detroit News confirms that Austin Daye will start at power forward on opening night. |
This is old news, but it's nice to see confirmation. Daye has huge upside as a threat to join the elusive one block/steal/trey club. He's well worth a sleeper pick in Round 10 at the very least. Daye will be joined in the starting lineup by Rodney Stuckey, Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Ben Wallace. Charlie Villanueva isn't worth a draft pick as a bench player. |

Fri Oct 22 2010 | 22:58 | Austin Daye looking great for Pistons |
If there was any doubt that Austin Daye would win the starting PF job in Detroit, he put it to rest on Friday with 22 points, six boards, a block and three 3-pointers on 9-of-17 shooting against Zach Randolph and the Grizzlies. |
The concerns are that he fouled out in three of his seven preseason games, as well as the fact that he's awfully light to be playing power forward. It didn't hurt him at all tonight though, as he torched Randolph throughout the game and looked like a legit fantasy starter. He's quickly emerging from a deep sleeper to someone you could take in Round 9 or 10 and plug right into your lineup. Especially if he keeps hitting the treys. |
Fri Oct 22 2010 | 13:10 | Pistons pick up Austin Daye's 3rd year option |
The Pistons have picked up Austin Daye's third-year option. |
Daye could start at PF for the Pistons this season, though his slim build makes us wonder if he'll finish the season in one piece. He's versatile and athletic, and fantasy owners should view him as a high-upside pick in the late rounds. |

Tue Oct 19 2010 | 22:28 | Austin Daye starts again at PF for Pistons |
Austin Daye is starting to look like the starting power forward for the Pistons this season, and he started there again on Tuesday. |
He hit 4-of-9 shots and a 3-pointer on his way to 10 points, four rebounds, an assist and a block. Daye is a great looking super sleeper late in your draft, and is a power forward who can score, rebound, block shots and hit threes. |
Tue Oct 19 2010 | 08:52 | Pistons game Tuesday to give lineup hints |
Beat writer Chris Iott says that the Pistons' preseason game against the Wizards on Tuesday will likely give us some indication as to what the their regular season lineup will look like. |
The biggest mystery is at PF, where Austin Daye has been turning heads on an every-night basis, and free agent bust Charlie Villanueva hasn't been doing so bad himself. Otherwise, the entire roster is flush with position battles, so we'll be watching closely to see how it pans out. |

Sat Oct 16 2010 | 22:03 | Daye still surging, this time off the bench |
Austin Daye moved to a bench role on Saturday, but was still one of the best players on the court with 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting (including two threes) with six rebounds, one assist, and two steals in 30 minutes. |
Coach John Kuester hinted that we may see a better representation of the lineup this weekend, and given the minute distribution it looks like he might have tipped his hand. If Daye can get 30 mpg during the season like he did tonight, he'll have low-end value in most leagues, but his upside makes him deserving a pick near Round 11. |
Sat Oct 16 2010 | 01:04 | Daye looking like starting PF for Pistons |
Austin Daye got another start at power forward Friday and hit 8-of-21 shots, a 3-pointer and finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block in a loss to the Timberwolves. |
Daye is suddenly a hot prospect in fantasy leagues and could easily end up starting at power forward. Charlie Villanueva was solid tonight, but Daye has filled up the stat sheet for several straight games. He looks like a great way to burn a last-round pick in standard leagues, and might even be worth a look near Round 10 if he is named the starter. |
Wed Oct 13 2010 | 23:16 | Daye getting hot at PF for Pistons |
Austin Daye started again at power forward for the Pistons on Wednesday and blew up for 16 points, five rebounds, two blocks and three 3-pointers on 6-of-13 shooting. |
In his two starts at PF this season, Daye has gone 12-of-23 from the floor, 5-of-9 from downtown, and finished with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocks. Daye likely doesn't even qualify at PF in your league, but if you're wondering why we've been calling him a sleeper, here's your answer. |
Mon Oct 11 2010 | 23:14 | Daye draws the start with Charlie V out |
Austin Daye started with Charlie Villanueva (hamstring) out on Monday, and finished with 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting (2-of-3 from downtown) with four rebounds, no assists, a steal, and a block. |
He can play the two, three, and four spots legitimately, but he's buried on one of the least desirable fantasy locales in the league. No matter what he does to impress observers, it's unlikely that he'll be able to carve out enough minutes to matter this year. |
Fri Oct 8 2010 | 22:31 | Daye scores 21 off the bench |
Pistons forward Austin Daye shot 7-for-13 and scored 21 points in 24 minutes off the bench, mixing in three threes, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. |
At 6-foot-11, Daye is unsuspectingly versatile and capable of all-around lines such as this one if given the opportunity. He's still a project, but his tremendous length is something that will come in handy on the defensive end, and he should be in line for more minutes this season now that Jonas Jerebko is out for five months. |
Tue Sep 28 2010 | 12:05 | Daye could be lost in shuffle |
Austin Daye could be "lost in the shuffle" this season, speculates the Detroit News. |
Daye is a young player with talent that the Pistons should be developing, but they aren't going down that path. By keeping Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince in the mix while adding Tracy McGrady, it's clear they are going to try to be mediocre right now. Daye is off the radar until that attitude changes. |

Sat Jul 24 2010 | 12:52 | Daye could spend time at shooting guard |
Austin Daye might see time at shooting guard this season, despite the fact he's 6-feet-11. |
Daye played some SG in summer league, where he averaged 21 points in two games before suffering a hip injury. Regardless of what position he's playing this year, Daye is in line for more minutes. He's probably not worth drafting in 12-team fantasy leagues, but might become a hot waiver-wire pick up after the season starts. |

Wed Jun 2 2010 | 23:11 | Austin Daye working to improve this summer |
Pistons forward Austin Daye is working hard to bulk up and improve his game this summer. |
Daye appeared in 69 games as a rookie, averaging five points and 2.5 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game. He was limited by a scrawny frame and defensive weaknesses, but said he's learning to use his length rather than strength defensively -- he should be able to learn a trick or two from Tayshaun Prince. |

Wed Apr 7 2010 | 22:51 | Daye gets first career double-double |
Austin Daye got his first career double-double on Wednesday, scoring 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting (including a three) with 10 rebounds, no assists, a steal, and three blocks in a game-high 44 minutes. |
He tweeted his frustrations with coach John Kuester, missed a team flight Monday, and only in the Pistons' mess could that lead to a career night for a player. He fits the description of a player that could get time being young, but his chances or being inconsistent temper our enthusiasm. |
Tue Apr 6 2010 | 22:05 | Austin Daye misses Pistons' flight to PHI |
Austin Daye and Charlie Villanueva both missed the Pistons' flight to Philadelphia on Monday, the probable source of their frustrated Tweeting. |
It's unclear whether either or both players were fined, but no suspensions are forthcoming -- they both played 23 minutes off the bench on Tuesday. Daye had nine points and nine rebounds, but he can safely be ignored in the vast majority of leagues. |
