Thu Jul 3 201411:49Sacramento Kings sign G Darren Collison
Sacramento Kings sign G Darren Collison.
The terms of the deal are 3 years and $16 million, according to Clippers beat writer Brad Turner. The 26-year-old averaged 11.4 points, 0.9 three-pointers, 2.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 steals in his only season with the Clippers and had a productive mid-season stretch when Chris Paul was injured during which he averaged over six assists per game. It will be interesting to see how this move affects restricted free agent Isaiah Thomas, but Collison could prove to be a very valuable fantasy asset if he finds himself starting for the Kings.

Tue Jul 1 201409:51Clippers placed call on Darren Collison
The Clippers placed a call to Darren Collison on Tuesday morning.
Coach Doc Rivers hinted that signing Collison was one of the team's priorities. He opted out of his deal last month and is an unrestricted free agent, so Collison could get a look from other teams. The call from the Clippers was believed to be a "cursory call" and no deal is imminent.

Sun Jun 29 201422:58Darren Collison is Clippers' top FA priority
Clippers coach and president Doc Rivers implied that re-signing Darren Collison is his top priority in free agency.
Rivers couldn't name Collison due to tampering rules, but he left no doubt about his meaning. "You know our first guy, I'll be honest, is one of our guys that opted out," Rivers said. "He's a little guy. That's very important for us." The Clippers are also eager to upgrade their SF position, and they may give precedence to chasing Trevor Ariza or even Carmelo Anthony, but it won't take long for them to make Collison a contract offer.

Thu Jun 19 201422:47Report: Darren Collison will opt out of LAC
Darren Collison will opt of of the second year of his two-year deal, according to Arash Markazi of ESPN.com.
There were some other smaller reports that he will opt in, but majority of the reports say he's opting out and will become an unrestricted free agent. Collison was terrific after the break last season, averaging 14.2 points, 3.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.2 triples on 47.1 percent from the field. He was a flop as a starter with the Pacers and Mavericks earlier in his career, but he might get a chance to start somewhere else.

Thu May 29 201400:58Clips Darren Collison likely opting out
Clippers backup point guard Darren Collison will reportedly opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Collison has proven to be a quality back up NBA point guard, but hasn't had as much success as a starter. Collison will "definitely" opt out, according to a source, and could realistically land on any NBA roster, but there's also a good chance he could end up returning to the Clippers, where he flourished as CP3's back up.

Sun May 11 201418:38Darren Collison sparks tremendous G4 comeback
Darren Collison caught fire in the fourth quarter of Sunday's exhilarating comeback victory, finishing Game 4 with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting, seven rebounds, one assist and zero turnovers.
DC was scoreless in Friday's loss but he bounced back in style, making 4-of-6 shots in the final frame with four of his attempts coming at the rim. The fifth-year guard's production has plummeted in the playoffs, as he's averaging only 8.5 points on 36.8 percent shooting, so hopefully Sunday's gem will mark the beginning of an upswing.

Sun Apr 6 201413:52Darren Collison moving to the bencn
Darren Collison will move back to the bench for Sunday's game vs. the Lakers with J.J. Redick back in the starting lineup.
He's done nothing wrong with fantastic play over the past couple months, but it makes a lot of sense to move him back to the bench. The Clippers will need a point guard in their second unit and also a guy who can sustain a high usage rate due to Jamal Crawford (calf) and Danny Granger likely out for the regular season. Collison's value does take a hit and his schedule is not very good the rest of the way, so his owners might need to figure out when they're going to use him. To be clear, he has solid value on a per-game basis.

Fri Apr 4 201401:53Darren Collison scores 22 points in 38 mins.
Darren Collison scored 22 points vs. his former team during Thursday's loss to the Mavericks with two boards, one assist and three steals in 38 minutes.
He is really filling it up with at least 22 points in three consecutive games, which is the first time he's scored more than 20 in three straight since his rookie year back in 2010. Collison should still get minutes in the mid-30s even with J.J. Redick back, so he's worth owning in standard leagues.

Thu Apr 3 201402:32Darren Collison scores 23 points vs. Suns
Darren Collison excelled in the starting lineup against the Suns on Wednesday during a big 112-108 road win, scoring 23 points with three boards, five assists, three steals, one block and two 3-pointers.
He shot 9-of-16 from the field and made all three attempts from the line to make this an eight-category line. Jamal Crawford has already been ruled out for Thursday, so Collison owners can get him going again vs. the Mavericks. J.J. Redick (back) probably won't be back to 100 percent.

Tue Apr 1 201401:18Collison drops 28 and seven on the Wolves
Darren Collison scored 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting (2-of-3 3PTs, 8-of-8 FTs) with three rebounds, seven assists and one steal in Monday's win over the Wolves.
Collison also had six turnovers against the Wolves' giving defense but who cares when he's putting up numbers like this. Just keep riding him until the wheels fall off, if they fall off.

Thu Mar 27 201423:23Darren Collison has a so-so game vs. Dallas
Darren Collison hit three 3-pointers vs. the Mavericks on Thursday on his way to 11 points with one board, two assists and two turnovers in 25 minutes.
His minutes have still held up with Jamal Crawford back, averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 boards, 1.0 steals and 2.0 triples on 54.2 percent from the field in his three previous games with Crawford. Collison ranks second among qualifying point guards in field goal percentage on the season and should at least hold value until J.J. Redick (back) returns, which figures to until at least Apr. 3.

Tue Mar 25 201402:15Collison scores 15 points with six assists
Darren Collison started once again and scored 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting (including three treys) with two rebounds, six assists and a block over 34 minutes on Monday against the Bucks.
Collison did very well to produce with Jamal Crawford (13 points, five assists, 27 minutes) back in the fold, but with J.J. Redick returning seemingly any time it's going to be a tough road to hoe. Forward-looking owners may want to cut bait if they have their eyes on a hot free agent.

Thu Mar 20 201416:54Darren Collison (virus) probable for Saturday
Darren Collison (stomach virus) returned to practice on Thursday, clearing the way for a return on Saturday.
Jamal Crawford (calf) also hopes to play on Saturday and looms as a threat to Collison's playing time, which has ballooned to 36.5 minutes per game over the past two weeks. The Clippers will play it safe with both Crawford and J.J. Redick (back) so Collison's owners may get a short-term reprieve.

Mon Mar 17 201420:27Darren Collison (illness) not at arena Monday
Darren Collison (illness) is not at the arena for Monday's game against the Nuggets.
He has a stomach virus and this will be his second game out of the lineup. Wille Green figures to start again, but Reggie Bullock was the big story on Sunday with his 14 points in 26 minutes. Collison should be ready for the Clippers' next game on Saturday vs. the Pistons.

Mon Mar 17 201417:20Darren Collison (illness) still doubtful
Darren Collison (stomach virus) is doubtful for Monday night's game against the Nuggets.
He missed Sunday night's game and it would appear he'll miss his second game. The Clippers only have two games this week, so fantasy owners should probably cut Collison in most leagues. Reggie Bullock played 26 minutes on Sunday and figures to get some run in a favorable matchup. Willie Green will likely start again.

Sun Mar 16 201421:19Darren Collison out Sunday w/ stomach virus
Darren Collison (stomach virus) will not play on Sunday.
This last-minute scratch means that Willie Green will start at SG, since Jamal Crawford (calf) is also unavailable for L.A. Chris Paul and Matt Barnes should also get a boost with the Clips so short-handed, though Collison's sudden absence surely burned many daily-league fantasy owners. Consider him questionable to return for Monday's road game at Denver.

Tue Mar 11 201402:07Collison scores 20 points, tweaks groin
Darren Collison scored 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting (including a three) with one rebound, four assists and two steals in 40 minutes on Monday against the Suns.
Collison looks locked and loaded into big minutes until Jamal Crawford returns, and the Clippers look like they want to play things safe on that front. That could mean Crawford is day-to-day or worse, and Collison should be owned and started until the wheels fall off.

Sun Mar 9 201401:57Darren Collison plays 41 minutes in win
Darren Collison played 41 minutes in another start on Saturday and had 12 points, four rebounds, four assists, a steal, a block and a 3-pointer in a win over the Hawks.
The end is near for Collison, as Jamal Crawford returned from a calf injury tonight. Crawford was 0-of-2 in 10 minutes, but should quickly eat into Collison's minutes going forward. If you are looking for a player to drop in order to pick up a hot free agent, Collison is a prime candidate despite tonight's big minutes. He also had a couple costly turnovers last in a close game against the Hawks, which may not sit well with coach Doc Rivers, either.
