Mon Nov 19 201220:41Seraphin starts the second half for Wizards
Kevin Seraphin started the second half instead of Emeka Okafor in Monday's game against the Pacers.
We don't know if this is permanent or temporary since Randy Wittman has been trying out all sorts of lineups, but this serves as a reminder that Seraphin has tremendous upside. Okafor is a health risk, as is Nene, and it would be a surprise if he didn't eventually play at the consistent level he showed last year if given consistent minutes. Seraphin is sitting on nine points with zero rebounds and zero blocks in 15 minutes mid-way through the third quarter.

Sat Nov 17 201221:57Kevin Seraphin awful in loss to visiting Jazz
Kevin Seraphin finished Saturday's game 3-of-11 from the field for six points, while racking up four personal fouls with zero rebounds in 16 minutes.
Things are going from bad to worse for Seraphin. Jan Vesely was promoted to the starting lineup ahead of him, Nene (feet) recently resumed light practice, and Seraphin seems to have completely lost his confidence. He's skilled enough to turn things around any day, but until that happens he belongs on waivers in 12-team leagues.

Fri Nov 16 201214:19Lineup changes could be coming for Wizards
Randy Wittman said that lineup changes could be coming for the Wizards.
This certainly makes sense for the only NBA team without a win. Kevin Seraphin has played well in his 22 minutes per game off the bench and one would think he's earned the starting distinction. He's coming off a 16-point game and we'd sign off on picking him up in some formats. Bradley Beal has also been struggling and has made just 16 percent of his 25 field goals in the last two games, but hanging on for a little longer seems like the right move for the rookie. It could even involve Trevor Ariza moving out of the starting lineup.

Sat Nov 10 201221:32Kevin Seraphin struggling in limited minutes
Kevin Seraphin was quiet for a second consecutive game on Saturday, posting four points and two rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench.
The lack of playing time is particularly worrisome, but we recommend keeping him on your bench a while longer, if possible. At some point the 0-5 Wizards will give their youngsters free rein, and Seraphin has shown what he can do with 30+ minutes. On a related note, the Wizards have the fourth-lowest FG percentage in the league (40.8 percent), while Seraphin came into Saturday's game leading the team in points per game, and trainling only Jan Vesely and Earl Barron in FG percentage.

Fri Nov 9 201223:28Seraphin struggles in Friday's game vs. MIL
Kevin Seraphin disappeared in Friday's game against the Bucks, scoring two points on 1-of-5 shooting with two rebounds, one steal, and zero blocks in 13 minutes off the bench.
Emeka Okafor (11 points, six rebounds, three steals, three blocks) was relatively good tonight and it looks like Randy Wittman rode the vet. It's going to take more than one bad outing to move us off of Seraphin, who has been a relatively consistent producer since the second half of last season.

Wed Nov 7 201223:27Kevin Seraphin posts another big line
Kevin Seraphin came off the bench and had 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists, a block and six turnovers on 8-of-19 shooting Wednesday.
Sure, the turnover and shooting were annoying, but he's playing heavy minutes and a big role with Emeka Okafor so ineffective, and Nene out with bad feet. Seraphin is now a must-own player and should be picked up in all leagues.

Sat Nov 3 201221:42Kevin Seraphin (calf) scores 19 pts in return
Kevin Seraphin (calf) dominated in 29 minutes off the Wizards bench on Saturday, scoring 19 points on 8-of-9 FGs, with seven rebounds and one block.
Need a big man? Seraphin had a costly turnover at the end of the game, but he held his own against Kevin Garnett and his role should only increase with Emeka Okafor (three points, seven rebounds in 17 minutes) struggling, and Nene still out indefinitely with plantar fasciitis. Don't forget that over the final 15 games of last season, Seraphin averaged 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks.

Sat Nov 3 201210:11Kevin Seraphin expected to return Saturday
Kevin Seraphin (strained right calf) will likely return to the Wizards' lineup Saturday against the Celtics.
Seraphin had been expected to miss four weeks with the injury, but appears ahead of schedule. He flashed nicely at the end of the last season and with his mentor, Nene (foot), still sidelined, Seraphin is an intriguing deep option for fantasy owners.

Fri Nov 2 201209:31Nene acting as a mentor to Kevin Seraphin
Nene has been acting as a mentor to Kevin Seraphin since being traded to the Wizards.
Seraphin really showed some nice flashes of productivity at the end of last season, and he's been being coached by Nene routinely. Nene has suggested players to study for Seraphin to improve his defense, suggested he switch to high-top sneakers and has acted as a coach for Seraphin as he continues to learn. Keep an eye on Seraphin's playing time with Nene (foot) on the shelf indefinitely.

Thu Nov 1 201214:45Seraphin (calf) practices on Thursday
Kevin Seraphin (calf) returned to practice on Thursday.
It was his first practice in three weeks, and afterward he tweeted "I'm back." With Nene (plantar fasciitis) still sidelined, Seraphin could see significant minutes on Saturday against Boston, though he's likely to be rusty after a long layoff.

Wed Oct 31 201209:37Kevin Seraphin (calf) close to returning
Randy Wittman believes that Kevin Seraphin (calf) is close to returning.
Seraphin is sorely needed on the Wizards front line and played very well down the stretch last season. If he can get on the court soon, it would be a major boost as Nene (plantar fasciitis) remains sidelined. The Wizards leaned on Earl Barron in the opener, and that's probably not a pattern Washington wants to continue for the long haul.

Tue Oct 30 201214:53Kevin Seraphin still out w/ strained calf
Kevin Seraphin (calf) will not play in the Wizards' season opener on Tuesday.
There's no clear timetable for Seraphin's return. He started 21 games last year, averaging 14.1 points on 53 percent FGs and 71 percent FTs, with 7.2 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 1.8 blocks in 32 minutes per game. Washington's frontcourt will be crowded once Seraphin and Nene (feet) are healthy, but he's someone to watch as the season progresses.

Mon Oct 22 201219:53Seraphin (calf) iffy for preseason games
Kevin Seraphin (calf) is still questionable for the remainder of the preseason schedule, but coach Randy Wittman said Monday that he is "making strides."
"I can't say," Wittman said when asked about Seraphin's status for the preseason. "That's one of those things that can continue to make strides in a day or two but then it could be a week or two. It's one of those things. Calf, hamstring, any kind of muscle injury you just don't know until it runs it course." Owners with designs on Seraphin are drafting for the long-term with the injury history of the Wizards frontcourt in mind. In that respect, draft him how you normally would.

Fri Oct 19 201213:51Wizards pick up Kevin Seraphin's option
Wizards exercised the fourth-year option on Kevin Seraphin's contract.
Seraphin showed promise last season with averages of 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks as the starting center down the stretch, and he'll look to build off the successful season this year.

Wed Oct 17 201209:40Seraphin progressing well from calf injury
Kevin Seraphin (calf) is doing "better," but is "a little bit of a ways away."
Seraphin was able to walk on the calf on Tuesday as opposed to not being able to do so on Monday, so that's an encouraging side. The Wizards aren't going to rush him, but we're expecting him to be back sooner rather than later. With Seraphin and Nene (foot) both sidelined, Emeka Okafor will see a lot of time down low for the time being.

Sun Oct 14 201215:03Kevin Seraphin (calf) ruled out for Monday
Kevin Seraphin (strained right calf) did not practice on Sunday and has been ruled out for Monday's game vs. the Nets.
X-rays were negative but Seraphin left the building in a walking boot last night, and there's no clear timetable for his return. With Nene still nursing his plantar fasciitis, guys like Earl Barron and Brian Cook will likely be forced to play heavy minutes.

Sat Oct 13 201222:48Kevin Seraphin leaves with strained calf
Kevin Seraphin left Saturday's game early with a strained right calf, and he was unable to return.
Seraphin is currently penciled in as the Wizards' starting center, and his health is paramount for the Wizards until Nene's plantar fasciitis subsides. With luck the injury isn't serious and he'll be ready to face the Nets in Tuesday's preseason game.

Tue May 29 201211:11Seraphin surprised himself with his play
Kevin Seraphin admitted that he "surprised" himself with his play down the stretch of the regular season.
"It's difficult to play when you don't have confidence," he said. "I've been there, so I know. But when you have the confidence everything is different, trust me." Seraphin has a good point here, as players in the league play with a different swagger when they know they won't be yanked immediately of the court if they commit a mistake. Seraphin has something to build on after averaging 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks on 52.7 percent shooting in 20 games as the starting center.

Mon Apr 23 201221:50Seraphin scores 12 points in solid night
Kevin Seraphin scored 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting with eight rebounds, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes on Monday against the Bobcats.
It appears Seraphin and Nene can co-exist, but it remains to be seen if Trevor Booker (foot) can make good on his talk of imminent return. Even if Booker does return, it'll be hard to bench Seraphin after the last month or so of solid play.

Tue Apr 17 201203:57Seraphin goes for 21 and 13 with five blocks
Kevin Seraphin scored 21 points on 10-of-19 shooting with 13 rebounds, one steal, and five blocks in the Wizards' win over the Bulls on Monday.
Seraphin has been a monster over the past two weeks, producing early round value while Nene and Trevor Booker's seasons are in doubt due to plantar fasciitis. We've heard rumblings that Nene is the closer of the two big men to return, but it seems a bit pointless to rush him back with Seraphin doing well. John Wall scored 16 points with five assists, and Jordan Crawford went cold with nine points on 2-of-13 shooting to go with six assists in the win.
