Thu Jan 30 201401:54Kevin Seraphin plays well in 29 minutes
Kevin Seraphin hit 5-of-8 shots for 10 points, seven rebounds and a block on Wednesday.
He didn't even play on Tuesday and had scored just 10 points over the Wizards last four games coming into this one. We're guessing he was given some run after getting hot tonight, and he ended up playing more minutes than benchmate Trevor Booker. We'll need to see a few more lines like this from Seraphin before giving him much attention.

Wed Jan 22 201409:43Kevin Seraphin's role surges w/ Booker out
Kevin Seraphin scored 16 points with seven rebounds and one block in Trevor Booker's absence on Monday, but he understands that his role is subject to change.
"If I play one, two, three, four, five or 20 minutes, I'm going to be ready," Seraphin said. "It's really tough if you don't know you're about to go into the game, or if you're not. But that's how it is right now." Booker is a game-time decision on Wednesday, so Seraphin might get another healthy dose of playing time, but he's not a reliable fantasy option.

Mon Jan 20 201420:08Kevin Seraphin steps up on Monday with 16
Kevin Seraphin stepped up for the injured Trevor Booker on Monday with 16 points, seven boards, one assist and one block in 23 minutes.
It was probably his best game of the season and not just because of the stat sheet. He was solid on defense and kept his mistakes down during the win today. Trevor Bookers' ankle injury is not considered serious, so fantasy owners can probably leave Seraphin on the wire in most leagues.

Wed Jan 15 201409:47Kevin Seraphin gets DNP-CD after big game
Kevin Seraphin received a DNP-CD on Monday, one game after he scored a season-high 18 points off the Wizards' bench.
Randy Wittman used an eight-man rotation with reserves Martell Webster, Garrett Temple and Trevor Booker, and the result was a much-needed road win vs. the Bulls. "I can't tell you the next 20 games, we're going to have an eight-man rotation or a 12-man," Wittman said. "That's just kind of a coaching situation, who you're playing, what guys are coming off the other team's bench, what our advantages might be, our disadvantages." This two-game sequence should be sufficient to scare away fantasy owners.

Sat Jan 11 201422:42Out of the blue, Kevin Seraphin scores 18 pts
Kevin Seraphin came out of nowhere to scored a season-high 18 points off Washington's bench on Saturday, making 8-of-13 FGs and 2-of-3 FTs in 23 minutes of action.
He also grabbed five rebounds and blocked one shot, and his big game cut into Marcin Gortat's playing time -- the Wizards' starting center only played 19 minutes. There's no reason to expect a repeat performance from Seraphin vs. the Bulls on Monday, but deep-league owners should keep an eye on him nevertheless.

Mon Dec 30 201322:04Seraphin (knee) returns to action on Monday
Kevin Seraphin (knee) returned to action on Monday, scoring six points on 3-of-4 shooting with two rebounds and one assist in 11 minutes.
Seraphin won't have any fantasy value unless Nene or Marcin Gortat suffer an injury, and to have any real value he'd need both of them to go out.

Sat Dec 28 201300:28Kevin Seraphin did not play on Friday
Kevin Seraphin did not play on Friday night at Minnesota.
He was doubtful for his troublesome knee injury and has only played 9.6 minutes per game on the season. Seraphin has almost no fantasy value.

Fri Dec 27 201319:45Kevin Seraphin doubtful for Friday vs. MIN
Kevin Seraphin (knee) is doubtful for Friday's game against the Wolves.
He has been dealing with soreness over the past few days and an MRI did not show any damage to his left knee. Seraphin is only playing 9.6 minutes per game and has little fantasy value after showing some promise in his last two seasons.

Mon Dec 23 201316:38Kevin Seraphin doesn't practice Monday
Kevin Seraphin (knee) did not practice on Monday.
His right knee has been an issue all year and it's part of the season he's playing just 9.6 minutes per game. Seraphin has been struggling with his play on top of the injury concerns, so he's not worth owning in most formats.

Sat Dec 21 201315:54Kevin Seraphin plays season-high 24 minutes
Kevin Seraphin had 13 points and six rebounds in a season-high 24 minutes vs. the Celtics, reducing Trevor Booker to an afterthought.
This give him double-digit points in three of the past four games. "I've been struggling like since the beginning of the season," Seraphin said earlier this week. He's not struggling any more and it's even more encouraging that he did this with Nene playing and Marcin Gortat locking down 35 minutes at center. He's not worth adding in average leagues, but we'll keep an eye on him.

Sat Dec 14 201322:54Kevin Seraphin scores season-high 16 points
Kevin Seraphin scored a season-high in Saturday's 113-97 loss to the Clippers with three boards and one assist in 20 minutes.
He did most of his work in the fourth quarter, so this line can be ignored for the most part. Seraphin has been bothered by a knee injury and the he's been in Randy Wittman's doghouse, so he'll need a few games before getting fantasy owners' attention.

Mon Dec 9 201322:17Kevin Seraphin plays five minutes
Kevin Seraphin returned from a knee injury on Monday and played five minutes.
He had some swelling in his knee and doesn't appear to be healthy. Seraphin was a focus for the Wizards' coaching staff in the preseason and he doesn't appear to have turned a corner. He's firmly behind Trevor Booker right now as a backup.

Mon Dec 9 201310:51Kevin Seraphin not worried about swollen knee
Kevin Seraphin said that the swelling in his right knee is "nothing really big," and he intends to return "as soon as possible."
Being medically cleared to play doesn't mean he'll be in the rotation, as Seraphin's career-worst numbers have him on the fringe of Randy Wittman's rotations. "He's just got to stay with it, mentally more than physically," Wittman said of Seraphin. "He's got to stay confident." With guys like Jan Vesely and Trevor Booker stealing his minutes, fantasy owners shouldn't be sharing in the confidence.

Fri Dec 6 201322:28Kevin Seraphin has swelling in knee
Kevin Seraphin did not play on Friday due to swelling in his knee, according to coach Randy Wittman.
The Wizards could have used him tonight with Nene (foot) going down. Seraphin only played 6.5 minutes per game over his previous four outings, but that allotment would likely go up should the swelling go down and Nene miss time. He's only worth a look in deep leagues.

Fri Oct 25 201318:17Kevin Seraphin loses value on Friday
Kevin Seraphin and Trevor Booker project to lose minutes from Friday's acquisition of Marcin Gortat.
Gortat will lock down the center spot for more than half of the game while Seraphin and Booker are likely to play behind him and Nene. The Wizards have been spending extra time coaching Seraphin this month, so perhaps this move suggests he is still not ready to be a go-to option in the post. Booker is extremely aggressive, but it's been a double-edged sword for him and it could be the reason why he's had such trouble staying healthy. Booker and Seraphin are no longer worthy of selection in most leagues.

Tue Oct 22 201322:29Kevin Seraphin double-doubles in loss
Kevin Seraphin came off the bench for 14 points, 11 rebounds and a block on 6-of-12 shooting in 26 minutes of Tuesday's loss to the Pistons.
Trevor Booker started tonight, but Seraphin looks like the better player to own. He's had a couple duds this preseason, but has also had some nice games along the way. He should be a serviceable back up center this season.

Fri Oct 11 201314:02Kevin Seraphin gets up to speed after layoff
Kevin Seraphin said he was "kind of nervous" in his preseason debut, which he finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.
"It's been a long time (since) I played," said Seraphin. "In the beginning I had to catch up. In the second half, it was better ... I was more comfortable. It was the speed. Everybody was excited. Everybody was playing fast." Emeka Okafor is out indefinitely with a herniated disk, and Nene is still dealing with a sore ankle and knee, so injuries may help Seraphin earn a fantasy-worthy role even if he's coming off the bench.

Tue Oct 8 201322:37Kevin Seraphin scores 13 points off the bench
Kevin Seraphin came off the bench on Tuesday and had 13 points, seven boards, one assist, one steal and one block in 33 minutes.
The team has spent some extra time with Seraphin in practice and they clearly want him to get over his struggles from last year. He still doesn't look completely comfortable in the post, but he'll still have a few weeks to work out the kinks before the season starts. Jan Vesely got the start and fouled out in 28 minutes, posting three points, 12 boards, one assist, one steal and block. The team has a deadline at the end of this month to extend Vesely, so they're going to want to get a good look at him. Seraphin is a solid late-round pick in standard leagues.

Fri Oct 4 201312:44Wizards preparing Seraphin for bigger role
The Wizards players and coaches are spending extra time coaching Kevin Seraphin.
"We're trying to help him on defense," said Nene Hilaro. "The assistant coaches talk to him, Al [Harrington], myself, and the other guys. We give him advice on defense." Coach Randy Wittman said that Seraphin has been hungry and is going after boards a lot in camp. Seraphin was abused on both ends at times last year, but he'll have extra opportunity with Emeka Okafor (neck) out indefinitely. He's worth a late-round pick in drafts.

Wed Sep 25 201309:30Seraphin preparing to play more this year
Kevin Seraphin said he's preparing for the opportunity for more playing time with Emeka Okafor (neck) out indefinitely.
"This league is all about opportunity," Seraphin said. "Now I have to step up. I may play more, so now I have to prepare for it." He added that he's more explosive and expects to play at a higher intensity. Seraphin scored 13.4 points per game with 1.1 blocks in his eight starts last year, so he'll be worth a late-round pick in fantasy leagues.
