Fri Mar 28 201417:26Pat Patterson is still out on Friday night
Patrick Patterson (elbow) will not play on Friday night vs. the Celtics.
He's been back at practice and there is a good chance he'll be ready for Sunday or Monday. Patterson has been out since Mar. 9 due to his elbow injury and the team will continue to give more run to Tyler Hansbrough. Amir Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas are also solidified in their roles.

Tue Mar 25 201409:56Patrick Patterson (elbow) cleared for contact
Patrick Patterson (elbow) has been cleared for contact scrimmages.
Patterson had his right elbow reassessed and scanned on Monday and the Raptors determined that he is healing well enough to be cleared for contact. There was, however, no mention of a return to game action, so his previous target of a late-March return is becoming a bit less realistic by the day. Amir Johnson and Tyler Hansbrough will continue to see increased roles in Patterson's absence while fantasy owners in anything but the deepest of leagues can feel free to move on without Pat Patt.

Tue Mar 18 201409:25Patrick Patterson (elbow) out another week
Patrick Patterson (elbow) will be re-evaluated after resuming limited basketball activity this week.
He suffered a right ulnar collateral sprain and will wear a protective brace as he eases his way back onto the court, and it sounds like Amir Johnson and Tyler Hansbrough will need to play bigger roles for the Raptors' frontcourt for at least one more week.

Sun Mar 16 201416:41Patrick Patterson will be re-evaluated on Mon
Patrick Patterson (elbow) will be re-evaluated on Monday.
Back on Mar. 9, he was expected to be evaluated in 7-10 days, so his timetable is holding up so far. The Raptors haven't really done well up front and their second unit has lost some punch, but there's little reason to stash him in most fantasy formats.

Sat Mar 15 201416:56Patrick Patterson (elbow) out again Sunday
Patrick Patterson (elbow) will be re-evaluated on Monday in the hopes that he can return next week.
He wasn't able to practice on Saturday and owners should get at least one more above-average game from Amir Johnson and Tyler Hansbrough on Sunday. It sounds as though Patterson could return as soon as Tuesday's road game in Atlanta.

Sun Mar 9 201417:32Patrick Patterson (elbow) out 7-10 days
Patrick Patterson was diagnosed with a right ulnar collateral sprain on Sunday and will be reevaluated in 7-10 days.
That ligament is famous in baseball for pitchers getting Tommy John surgery and it is to his shooting elbow, so he could need more than the 7-10 days. Patterson has played well in his past two games and the Raptors will likely have to use a little more of Tyler Hansbrough. Amir Johnson's value is also solidified with this news.

Thu Feb 27 201423:38Patrick Patterson ditches the mask
Patrick Patterson played without a mask on Thursday during a 134-129 triple-overtime loss to the Wizards, scoring five points with four boards, two steals, two blocks and one 3-pointer.
He fouled out in his 23 minutes of action and turned in a solid line considering he scored just five points. Amir Johnson hurt his ankle again tonight, but it doesn't sound serious enough to keep him out on Sunday night. Patterson isn't necessarily a pickup just yet.

Wed Feb 26 201415:34Patrick Patterson playing without a mask soon
Coach Dwane Casey said on Wednesday Patrick Patterson will be able to play without a mask soon.
He was expected to wear a mask for four weeks dating back to Feb. 9, so he looks to be ahead of schedule. He's shot just 42.1 percent from the field since that day, which is down from his 47.3 percent prior to sporting the mask. His minutes have fallen off and it's going to be hard for him to have fantasy value while Amir Johnson is at full strength.

Sun Feb 23 201422:47Patrick Pattesrson puts up a scoring dud
Patrick Patterson scored just two points during Sunday's 109-95 win against the Magic with six boards, two assists, two steals and two blocks in 21 minutes.
Amir Johnson went down with an ankle injury, but it's not considered serious. If it wasn't to his ankle which has bothered him all February, there would not be many implications from the injury. However, Amir's right ankle has been a major issue and has zapped a lot of his energy, so Pat "Two Pat" Patterson is worth a look as a speculative add.

Fri Feb 21 201417:34Two-Pat goes back to unit number two
Patrick Patterson will move back to the bench for Friday's game against the Cavs.
He had a great run on as the starting power forward, but it's likely over for now. Patterson is really a great fit as the second-unit power forward for his offense as a centerpiece, but the move to the bench will hurt his fantasy value a bit.

Tue Feb 18 201422:24Patrick Patterson starts over Amir Johnson
Patrick Patterson started over Amir Johnson and had 10 points, six rebounds, three steals and a block on 4-of-7 shooting in 34 minutes on Tuesday.
Amir Johnson returned from his ankle injury and had 14 points, five rebounds, a steal and a block in 24 minutes off the bench, as the timeshare is on. Both players are worth a look by owners in need of a power forward, but it would not be surprising to see Patterson hold the starting job going forward.

Tue Feb 18 201418:21Patrick Patterson starts over Amir Johnson
Patrick Patterson will start at PF again on Tuesday, despite the return of Amir Johnson (ankle).
Patterson is averaging 8.8 points, 1.0 threes, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals in eight starts this season, and he's likely to split PF minutes with Johnson somewhat evenly. Those numbers probably aren't good enough to help standard-league owners, so consider your options carefully before committing to Patterson.

Wed Feb 12 201421:54Patrick Patterson average in another start
Patrick Patterson had 14 points, six rebounds and a 3-pointer in 31 minutes on Wednesday, and started again for injured Amir Johnson (ankle).
Owners who scooped him up in daily leagues were hoping for more, but it certainly could have been worse. Johnson will have the All-Star break to heal up, but Patterson should be in an even minutes share with him going forward. And unfortunately, that isn't great news for either player's fantasy value.

Wed Feb 12 201417:45Patrick Patterson starting again on Wednesday
Patrick Patterson will start for the second consecutive game on Wednesday vs. the Hawks.
On Monday, the Raptors used him on the perimeter a ton with five of his seven field goals coming as spot-up jumpers. Patterson also had a post-up bucket and a score on pick-and-roll as a big part of the offense on his way to a season-high 22 points. He won't have to deal with Anthony Davis this time and might play a little closer to the basket, so get him in your lineup.

Mon Feb 10 201422:21Patterson scores season-high 22 points
Patrick Patterson scored a season-high 22 points in his start for Amir Johnson (ankle) on Monday against the Pelicans, hitting 7-of-11 shots from the field (3-of-5 from deep, 5-of-6 from the line) with six rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes.
Johnson's ankle really sounds like it could use a rest and the All Star break is a logical chance for the Raptors to give him some well-timed days off. Owners looking at Patterson after a solid night like this should also consider that Dwane Casey has asked Johnson to play with his bad ankle, citing the need to have his toughness on the floor, so any time off may be short-lived. With late-round value over the last 14 games in 22.8 minutes per contest for P-Pat, however, it's fair to consider him a strong low-end pickup with or without Johnson in the lineup.

Mon Feb 10 201418:40Patrick Patterson will start on Monday night
Patrick Patterson will start in place of the injured Amir Johnson (ankle) on Monday night.
He'll be playing with a mask and should be very busy tonight. The Raptors use him in pick and roll a lot, so he should be the frontcourt focal point of their offense. Of course, getting some extra looks at Anthony Davis won't help his case. That said, Patterson should be in all lineups tonight with Tyler Hansbrough only playing 8.5 minutes per game over his last four.

Sun Feb 9 201416:39Patrick Patterson playing with the mask
Patrick Patterson said on Sunday his nose feels a lot better, but will still have to wear a mask for the next four weeks.
The mask has not affected his play negatively whatsoever, shooting 53.8 percent from the field for 11.2 points per game over his last six games with the mask. Patterson's minutes are at just 22.4 per game over that span, but he could get a few more with Amir Johnson's ankle not at 100 percent.

Tue Feb 4 201402:52Patterson logs just 19 minutes in win
Patrick Patterson saw just 19 minutes in Monday's win, scoring six points on 2-of-7 shooting with four rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Patterson is going to struggle for consistency in his bench role and with Amir Johnson going for 11 and 11 in 29 minutes, it's possible Johnson is going to get going after a really bad stretch. All together, P-Pat is only worth a look in deeper leagues.

Sun Feb 2 201401:09Pat Patterson plays down the stretch
Patrick Patterson played down the stretch of Saturday's loss to the Blazers, finishing with 13 points, nine boards, three assists, one block and one 3-pointer.
He was basically running a pick and roll on every possession late in this game and he's become a terrific option for the Raptors on offense. Amir Johnson's ankle may be at less than 100 percent, but Patterson is certainly earning his playing time. Two of his last three games have been very good with a so-so game mixed in there, so he's worth a look for owners looking to get some treys from the power forward spot.

Sat Feb 1 201401:34Pat Patterson scores nine points in win
Masked Patrick Patterson scored nine points in 24 minutes against the Nuggets on Friday with six boards, one block and one 3-pointer.
He came off the bench a little sooner than expected with Amir Johnson getting into foul trouble. Patterson's minutes nearly doubled Tyler Hansbrough's and it's become abundantly clear he'll be the main bench big man. He's a decent option in 14-team leagues.
