Sat Jan 11 201422:06Anderson, Hawes tie for 76ers lead w/ 17 pts
James Anderson and Spencer Hawes each scored 17 points to tie for the team-high in scoring on Saturday, but their strong games couldn't prevent Philly's fourth consecutive defeat.
Anderson drained 8-of-13 shots with one 3-pointer, seven rebounds, one steal and zero turnovers in 34 minutes. His return to the starting lineup has allowed Hollis Thompson (16 minutes) to come off the bench as a backup PF, giving the Sixers' some much-needed size in their second unit, and it's possible that Anderson's role will change once Lavoy Allen (calf) and Arnett Moultrie (ankle) join the rotation.

Sat Jan 11 201418:28James Anderson will start again
James Anderson will get the start again on Saturday night vs. the Knicks.
He turned in a nice performance on Friday with 10 points in 32 minutes against the Pistons and it looks to be enough to keep him in the starting lineup. Anderson is worth a look in deeper leagues while Hollis Thompson should be dropped like a hot potato.

Fri Jan 10 201421:34James Anderson plays 32 minutes vs. DET
James Anderson got his first start at shooting guard since November on Friday, playing 32 minutes with 10 points, eight boards, three assists, one steal and two turnovers.
He was putting up some decent numbers before his demotion to the bench, averaging 9.8 points, 3.9 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.5 triples in 33.5 minutes in his previous starts. The Sixers are likely done with the idea of playing Hollis Thompson after giving him a big chance, so Anderson could stick with the first unit. He's worth a look in deeper leagues.

Fri Jan 10 201418:43James Anderson moves into the starting lineup
James Anderson will start at shooting guard for the Sixers vs. the Pistons on Friday.
It's his first start since November and the Sixers could give him more of an extended look. Anderson did log 33 minutes of action on Tuesday, but that was due to Tony Wroten sitting out with an illness. He's only worth a look in deeper leagues.

Tue Jan 7 201422:43James Anderson still hot for Sixers
James Anderson hit 6-of-15 shots for 15 points, five rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks, but missed all four of his attempts from downtown in Tuesday's loss.
Anderson has been nice for two straight games with Tony Wroten dealing with the flu, while coach Brett Brown has also been using his bench more recently. Anderson's still not a must-own player, but is a nice option as long as Wroten is out.

Mon Jan 6 201421:39James Anderson plays 22 minutes off bench
James Anderson played 22 minutes off the bench against the Wolves on Monday, scoring 14 points with seven boards, two assists, three steals, one block and two 3-pointers on 5-of-6 shooting.
It was his best output since his 36-point outburst back on Nov. 13 and he answered the call tonight. Tony Wroten (illness) did not play and he could miss Tuesday's game vs. the Cavs. Anderson's long-term value doesn't look too good based on averages of 8.5 points, 3.5 boards, 0.4 steals and 1.2 triples over his previous 10, so there is little reason to pick him up unless it's for a plug-and-play on Tuesday.

Sun Dec 29 201302:03James Anderson off bench for six points
James Anderson came off the bench again on Saturday and had just six points, five rebounds, an assist, a steal and two 3-pointers.
We thought he might do a little more with Evan Turner out, but it didn't happen. He's now totaled just 10 points over his last three games and no longer has any fantasy value.

Mon Dec 16 201323:25Anderson scores 17 points off the bench
James Anderson scored 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting (including three treys) with three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 26 minutes off the bench on Monday.
Anderson has made a small amount of noise with averages of 12.8 points, 0.8 threes, 51.4 percent field goal shooting and 90.9 percent shooting from the line over his last four games. He's still just a 14-16 team asset right now but if anybody goes down ahead of him he could have a small amount of upside in the Sixers' jackpot offense.

Sun Dec 15 201300:15Anderson scores 14 points off the bench
James Anderson scored 14 points off the bench in Saturday's blowout loss, hitting 6-of-10 shots with just one rebound and two turnovers to fill out the rest of his box in 16 minutes.
Anderson didn't attempt a 3-point shot and though a blowout loss like this is hard to evaluate, the Sixers will play a lot of games like that and Brett Brown isn't necessarily going to worry about rest for a guy like him. His counterpart, Hollis Thompson, played 36 minutes and scored 17 points with a nice line and altogether Anderson is just a deep league play, at best.

Thu Dec 12 201300:41James Anderson scores 16 points off bench
James Anderson played 31 minutes off the bench on Wednesday during a loss to the Wolves, scoring 16 points with eight boards, two assists and two 3-pointers on 5-of-8 shooting.
Hollis Thompson looked like a rookie tonight and had four fouls in 19 minutes, so Anderson get a little more run than usual. Anderson has been a weak spot for the Sixers on defense, which suggests why it's a unlikely he will get his starting job back. In his five games off the bench before tonight, Anderson averaged 9.4 points and 0.8 triples in 21.0 minutes, so he'll need to string a couple games together before we can sign off on him as a pickup.

Tue Dec 3 201323:06James Anderson scores 19 off the bench
James Anderson came off the bench for the second time this season, scoring 19 points with two rebounds and two 3-pointers in 29 minutes.
He picked up some points and minutes in the overtime frames, so the decent line is a little misleading. Anderson's defensive lapses have been a bit of an issue and coach Brett Brown will bring him off the bench for the foreseeable future in favor of Hollis Thompson. He could still hit a couple threes here and there, so he has a little value in some deeper leagues.

Sun Dec 1 201318:51James Anderson doesn't do much off bench
James Anderson played 22 minutes off the bench on Sunday, making two 3-pointers on his way to 11 points, two boards and one block.
The Sixers wanted to go with some extra size against a huge front line of Detroit, but it didn't work in the blowout loss. Anderson's playing time has been dwindling slowly and this was his second game in a row at 22 minutes. We've likely already seen his peak and his downward trend makes him an undesirable piece in many fantasy formats.

Sat Nov 23 201322:12James Anderson attempts 10 threes in defeat
James Anderson launched a season-high 10 three-pointers on Saturday, but he only connected on one of them to finish with 13 points, five rebounds, three steals and one block.
Anderson played 37 minutes and continues to get plenty of action by default, especially with key players like Tony Wroten and Thaddeus Young out with injuries tonight. He's on the cusp of top-100 fantasy value this season, chipping in just enough 3-pointers without hurting owners in any category.

Mon Nov 18 201323:52Anderson scores 14 points with seven rebounds
James Anderson scored 14 points on 5-of-13 shooting (including three treys) with seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block in Monday's loss to the Mavs.
Anderson is going to have his ups and downs as he's reliant upon some inexperienced point guards to get him the ball, but even when Michael Carter-Williams returns he should be owned unless he absolutely falls off a cliff. The Sixers are a fantasy jackpot and any one injury would all-but guarantee his spot on rosters in most formats. He's a late round value on the year and an early round value this week.

Fri Nov 15 201323:28Anderson struggles after big night on Wed
James Anderson hit just 1-of-6 shots on Friday, finishing with two points, four rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks in 39 minutes.
Anderson tends to get lost on offense when things aren't going his way, but at least he backed his scoring number up with good production elsewhere. Playing in the Sixers' jackpot system, he should be owned in all formats.

Wed Nov 13 201323:13James Anderson scores career-high 36
James Anderson hit 12-of-16 shots and six 3-pointers for a career-high 36 points to go along with five rebounds and three steals in Wednesday's win over the Rockets.
Anderson has started at shooting guard all season and finally broke off a big line tonight. He's been up and down all year and we'll need to see him play well on a more consistent basis before calling him a must-own player, but if you want to pick him up in case this wasn't a fluke, it makes sense. Just don't cut a sure thing for him.

Sat Nov 9 201300:45Anderson posts low-end line in win vs. CLE
James Anderson hit 5-of-7 shots in Friday's win over the Cavs, and finished with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and one 3-pointer over 32 minutes.
Anderson's slow start has helped to keep his season-long value beneath a late-round level in standard formats, but he has scraped together a few low-end lines to give owners hope that he can climb back above the Mendoza line.

Wed Nov 6 201323:54James Anderson stays relevant in loss
James Anderson had 13 points, four rebounds and two 3-pointers in 33 minutes on Wednesday.
Yes, Tony Wroten is pushing him, but Anderson is still getting the starts and the minutes at shooting guard in Philly. He's not a must-own player, but if you need a shooting guard and can handle some inconsistency, give him a look.

Mon Nov 4 201322:44Anderson's slow start officially a concern
James Anderson scored just seven points on 3-of-7 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds, one assist and one block over 26 minutes in Monday's blowout loss to the Warriors.
This game was officially silly by midway through the second quarter, and this line actually represents an improvement for Anderson. Heck, we can even say that perhaps his minutes were cut short by the garbage time element. But owners have not been paid off by their late-round draft pick and it's possible Tony Wroten is going to steal some of his time. This probably shouldn't be the game that makes or breaks you with Anderson, but if you decide to cut him like Chris Rock says, "we'd understand."

Sat Nov 2 201323:22James Anderson puts up a dud on Saturday
James Anderson scored just one point on 0-of-4 shooting with three rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes on Saturday night.
The minutes have been there for Anderson so far with 34 and 35 in his first two games, but he's scored just 4.0 points per game and hasn't been too effective on defense either. His minutes did trend down in favor of Tony Wroten tonight and he was yanked early in the first quarter by coach Brett Brown, so Anderson is losing a little bit of his luster as an asset in fantasy leagues.
