Fri Aug 2 201311:09Chris Copeland has left knee surgery Friday
Chris Copeland underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to remove a loose body Friday morning.
His recovery time is expected to be 6-8 weeks. Copeland stayed fairly healthy in his rookie season and his Pacers career is off to a rough start. The team signed him to a two-year, $6 million deal last month to provide some depth at the forward spots and Copeland's outside-in game adds a nice component to their offense. He'll be targeting a return for training camp in late September and should be ready for the season opener.

Tue Jul 16 201310:19Copeland hoping to wear 22 to honor brother
Chris Copeland is hoping to wear number 22 with the Pacers to honor his brother.
His brother, Vincent Alphaquan, died at age 22 after being struck by a drunk driver in 1997. Copeland is an easy guy to root for and he came out of the blue in the 2012 preseason for the Knicks. He didn't really see many minutes with New York until April, but his big month surprisingly got him a third-place vote for Rookie of the Year. He'll be on the radar in standard fantasy leagues, but he's not worth drafting yet.

Fri Jul 5 201320:11IND finalizing offer sheet for Chris Copeland
Restricted free agent Chris Copeland will sign a two-year, $6 million offer sheet with the Pacers.
The Knicks will have until July 13 to match, but given their limited cap space, they can't with the current players they have under contract. In other words, Copeland is a Pacer. The addition of Copeland could mean the Pacers don't bring back Tyler Hansbrough. Copeland would come off the bench and could be a key piece in their second unit. Indiana was last in the Eastern Conference in bench scoring last season and their starters play consistent minutes, so there's not much upside to Copeland in fantasy leagues just yet.

Fri Jul 5 201309:00Chris Copeland expecting more than $1.75 mil
Chris Copeland's agent said that he is expecting a deal more than $1.75 million next season.
The number is significant because the Knicks can't offer more than that amount and stay under the cap. It seems like the plan all along for the Knicks was to retain J.R. Smith and Pablo Prigioni, which they have done, while possibly bringing on veterans at the minimum such as Elton Brand or Sebastian Telfair. Copeland is likely to be with another team.

Thu Jul 4 201321:26Lakers are in the mix for Chris Copeland
The Lakers are in the mix to sign restricted free agent Chris Copeland.
He hasn't signed an offer sheet just yet and the Lakers are waiting on the answer from Dwight Howard before committing to the 28-year-old forward. The Knicks are going to have an extremely tough time matching any offer on Copeland and he is a near lock to be playing with another team next year.

Wed Jul 3 201322:57Cavaliers are interested in Chris Copeland
The Cavs are in play to offer unrestricted free agent Chris Copeland a multiyear contract.
Cleveland looks to be going after an athletic power forward with reported interest in Copeland as well as Earl Clark. Copeland entered the NBA last season at 28 years old and this will likely be his best opportunity for a sizable contract, especially after a big April with averages of 15.0 points and 1.9 triples.

Wed Jul 3 201317:08Copeland's agent says the Jazz are interested
Chris Copeland's agent says the Jazz are interested in his client and he expects to have further conversations with the club.
Copeland is drawing a lot of interested eyes as a restricted free agent. Copeland has been linked to the Pacers, Lakers, Celtics, Thunder, Bucks and Mavs, just to name a few. There's no offer yet from Utah, but the Pacers were reportedly preparing one and the Lakers made an "exploratory" offer to the forward. We expect Copeland and his reps to work the market for the highest possible offer sheet before signing.

Tue Jul 2 201323:53Report: Pacers have offer ready for Copeland
The Pacers continue to pursue Knicks restricted free agent F Chris Copeland and ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the team is in the process of making him an offer.
No details available yet, but if the Pacers were to land Copeland their deep and stellar bench could be ready to get even better. And since Tyler Hansbrough's not coming back, Copeland can be immediately slotted into his spot in the rotation. Copeland is also being pursued by the Lakers, as well as several other teams.

Tue Jul 2 201317:18Lakers make offer to Chris Copeland
The Lakers have reportedly made an "exploratory offer" to restricted free agent Chris Copeland.
Copeland has been linked to the Pacers, Celtics, Thunder, Bucks and Mavs among others. But this is the first we've heard of an actual offer -- even if it is a lowball one. Expect Copeland to keep traveling the marketplace in search of the highest offer sheet.

Mon Jul 1 201314:51Pacers, Chris Copeland have 'mutual interest'
The Pacers and free agent F Chris Copeland have "strong mutual interest," according to Yahoo! Sports.
In 13 starts for New York as a rookie, Copeland averaged 16.1 points, 2.0 threes and 3.7 rebounds in only 27 minutes per game. His defensive lapses could be masked by the Pacers' exemplary team defense and the presence of Roy Hibbert, and keep in mind that although a second-year player in the NBA, Copeland is an experienced player in his prime at 29 years old.

Fri Jun 28 201309:22Report: Celtics expected to pursue Copeland
The Celtics are expected to pursue Chris Copeland in free agency.
At this juncture, Copeland's list of potential suitors is growing by the minute. The Celtics might give him a look, but it's hard to imagine a rebuilding team getting into a bidding war for a role player.

Wed Jun 26 201309:22Report: Several teams interested in Copeland
Several teams are interested in restricted free agent Chris Copeland.
In addition to the Pelicans, the Thunder, Bucks, Mavs, Jazz and Wizards have "shown interest." It's not much in the way of an update of Copeland's suitors, but it's another indication the Knicks face an uphill battle in retaining him.

Tue Jun 25 201312:55Chris Copeland gets qualifying offer from NY
The Knicks have extended a qualifying contract offer to Chris Copeland.
The move officially makes him a restricted free agent, but does little else. The Knicks will face stiff competition in retaining the big man this summer after a breakout rookie season in New York.

Tue Jun 25 201309:02Report: Pelicans may try for Chris Copeland
The Pelicans are planning to make a "strong bid" for Chris Copeland, a source told the New York Post.
The Knicks can match any offer on Copeland since he's a restricted free agent, but they only can do so up to $3.1 million. The Pelicans, as a team under the cap, can pay Copeland more, but it's hard to imagine he'll land much more than that if he does exceed that annual rate. Copeland will have more than just one other interested suitor, so the Knicks will face a challenge in keeping him.

Mon May 20 201315:11Chris Copeland hopes to re-sign w/ Knicks
Chris Copeland "really wants to return" with the Knicks, according to his agent, though New York's lack of salary-cap space is complicating the picture.
New York is fully expected to give Copeland a qualifying offer, thus making him a restricted free agent. Things get trickier from there. Copeland's agent thinks his client should earn "in the $3.5 to $5 million range," but the Knicks only have a $1.9 million bi-annual exception and a $3 million mini-mid-level exception.

Fri May 17 201313:33Knicks will keep using Copeland in Game 6
Appearing on ESPN radio, Mike Woodson reiterated Chris Copeland will remain a part of the rotation.
Copeland was a spark off the pine on Thursday with 13 points (three 3-pointers) to go along with two steals in just 19 minutes, and we wouldn't be surprised if the rookie saw 20-25 minutes on Saturday. His ability to stretch the floor is something the Knicks need, and he's clearly helping the team where it needs assistance.

Fri May 17 201309:23Copeland could be one and done w/ Knicks
The Knicks may be prohibited from offering Chris Copeland more than $3 million annually in free agency, according to the New York Post.
The Post believes the Knicks will extend him a qualifying offer and have the opportunity to match any offer he receives, but the Knicks would have to use one of their exceptions to retain him since the team doesn't have his Bird Rights. Copeland will certainly draw interest and is a near lock to make more than the league minimum he did this season, but it's too early to speculate on what type of offers he'll draw.

Thu May 16 201323:14Chris Copeland scores 13 off the bench
Chris Copeland provided a spark off the bench for the Knicks on Thursday with 13 points, four boards, one assist, two steals and three 3-pointers in 19 minutes.
He has been put into the rotation after not playing at all in the last three games of the Boston series. Copeland has been an asset for the Knicks vs. the Pacers and it's not a shock after his huge April in the regular season that included 15.0 points per game. That said, it still does seem silly that he received two first-place votes for Rookie of the Year.

Thu May 16 201310:46Chris Copeland to get more run in Game 5
Mike Woodson will use Chris Copeland "early" in Thursday's Game 5, and he will play more minutes than he has been in the series so far.
Copeland saw 12 minutes in Game 4, the most action he's seen in the second round, but we'd expect him to have a larger role in a must-win Game 5. The Knicks are desperate for offensive help on the perimeter, and Copeland is capable of stretching the floor.
