Thu Jan 30 201412:35Demotion to D-League unlikely for Otto Porter
Otto Porter likely won't be demoted to the D-League this year.
Coach Randy Wittman has spoken of the possibility of a D-League assignment, but that doesn't seem to be likely at the moment as the Wizards need porter as injury insurance for Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster. Fantasy-wise, Porter has only played an average of 7.7 minutes in the Wizards' last five games, so his value to fantasy owners is quite limited for the time being.

Sun Jan 19 201409:48Otto Porter hungry for more minutes
Otto Porter expressed in a recent interview that he would like to get more playing time, but admitted he doesn't know if or when he will get a chance to step up for Washington.
Porter is currently buried on the bench behind veteran swingmen Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster who are currently playing very well. While Porter does have the talent, winning is going to come before player development as the Wizards attempt to make their first playoff appearance since 2008. It will take a couple injuries for Porter to garner fantasy relevance.

Fri Jan 17 201411:20Otto Porter gets coach's vote of confidence
Otto Porter received a vote of confidence from coach Randy Wittman.
Like fellow Top 3 pick Anthony Bennett, Porter has been struggling through his rookie season, but Randy Wittman gave him a vote of confidence in saying, "There is no worry in my mind that he was the right guy for us...He's going to be a good player in this league." Despite Wittman's kind words, Porter's minutes have taken a nose dive over the past week and he isn't worth owning in standard leagues at this point.

Fri Dec 13 201310:53Otto Porter looking to regain his rhythm
Otto Porter is looking to find his rhythm as he adjusts to the fast pace of the NBA.
"It is tough to come out of nowhere and be aggressive..." Porter said. "It's about getting the flow back and once you get that back, your teammates automatically start looking for you..." This years No. 3 overall pick is off to a slow start, and Porter has yet to score his first points in the NBA. With Martell Webster likely to return on Friday, Porter will probably be learning from the bench as the Wizards ease him into the rotation.

Mon Dec 9 201310:05Otto Porter (hip) will be eased into rotation
Wizards rookie Otto Porter (hip) will be eased into the rotation with limited minutes, according to coach Randy Wittman.
Porter had a turnover, a travel and an air ball in the first 30 seconds of his NBA debut. "Welcome to the league," Wittman said. "I can't get the cart ahead of the horse here. I've got to make sure he gets comfortable, his conditioning. He said his legs felt like Jell-O out there a little bit, the first time he was out there. Keep monitoring that." Martell Webster's sore ankle and Bradley Beal's injured leg have opened up playing time but fantasy owners should watch Porter from a distance in standard leagues.

Sat Dec 7 201300:42Otto Porter quiet in his NBA debut
Otto Porter made his NBA debut on Friday, playing 14 minutes with two rebounds and one assist.
Porter missed all three of his shot attempts and traveled on his very first touch, and he needs a good amount of seasoning before he gets comfortable at this level. With Martell Webster having to be helped off the floor tonight with an ankle injury, it opens the door a bit for Porter but there is no guarantee that he's the guy that ends up walking through it. He's a very risky flier, at best, in 12-14 team formats.

Fri Dec 6 201318:27Otto Porter is active for Friday's game
Otto Porter (hip) is active for Friday's game against the Bucks.
Martell Webster and Trevor Ariza have been great as the starting wings, so Porter is unlikely to take away any minutes from them. However, Chris Singelton played 20.5 minutes per game over the last two, so there's a chance Porter can at least get some action tonight. Fantasy owners shouldn't be too excited about the talented rookie yet and we'll see how he looks tonight. He's only worth stashing in very deep leagues.

Fri Dec 6 201314:05Otto Porter (hip) remains game-time decision
Otto Porter (hip) remains a game-time decision for Friday's tilt vs. the Bucks.
When asked if he was feeling good, Porter responded, "I'm feeling decent." He's edging his way closer and closer to a return, but his status will likely be up in the air until we're closer to tip-off. The third overall pick has yet to make his NBA debut, and once he does, he will be battling red hot Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster for minutes. This situation should be viewed as a wait-and-see approach.

Thu Dec 5 201313:58Otto Porter (hip) game-time decision for Fri
Otto Porter (hip) is a game-time decision for Friday's game against the Bucks.
The third overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft has not experienced any setbacks according to coach Randy Wittman and it's sounding like his return is imminent. As evidenced by his draft spot, Porter has all the upside in the world but faces an uphill battle after missing the entire offseason. He'll be fighting Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster for minutes in the short-term, so fantasy owners can feel free to sit back and wait for this situation to play out.

Wed Dec 4 201313:31Otto Porter (hip) hopes to make debut 'soon'
Otto Porter (hip) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice and he hopes to make his NBA debut "soon."
Porter has no clear return date, however, and when he does return he'll need to quickly learn the Wizards' system while fighting for minutes behind Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster. Fantasy owners should take a wait-and-see approach toward this year's No. 3 pick.

Tue Dec 3 201310:30Otto Porter (hip) could play this week
Otto Porter (hip) has a chance to make his NBA debut for the Wizards this week.
After only practicing with the Wizards for the first time last week, it's hard to put a lot of fantasy stock in the third overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft just yet. Even if he's fully healthy, Porter will be battling Martell Webster and Trevor Ariza for playing time and shouldn't be anything more than a deep league stash for the foreseeable future.

Sat Nov 30 201317:47Otto Porter (hip) won't debut vs. Atlanta
Otto Porter (hip) will not make his NBA debut in Saturday's game vs. Atlanta.
Porter returned to practice on Monday but his return date remains uncertain, and fantasy owners should ignore him until he's able to suit up. With Martell Webster and Trevor Ariza both playing well on the wings, Porter's near-term fantasy outlook is rather dim.

Mon Nov 25 201312:51Otto Porter (hip) finally practices on Monday
Otto Porter (hip), who has yet to make his NBA debut, returned to practice on Monday.
It's unclear whether he was a full participant, but the fact that he was on the court with his teammates is encouraging since his hip injury has kept him out 'indefinitely' to this point. Head coach Randy Wittman is worried about Porter's learning curve and conditioning once he's ready to play, and fantasy owners should view him skeptically as long as Martell Webster and Trevor Ariza are healthy.

Sun Nov 24 201310:29Otto Porter (hip) still out indefinitely
Wizards coach Randy Wittman still isn't sure when rookie Otto Porter (hip) will be able to resume basketball activities.
The No. 3 pick in this year's draft has been shelved all season and there's a veil of mystery surrounding his injury. Trevor Ariza got off to a hot start this season, Martell Webster has been playing very well as a starter in Ariza's absence, and Porter faces a steep climb to fantasy relevance whenever he's finally cleared to play.

Thu Nov 14 201311:42Uncertainty surrounds Otto Porter (hip)
There is uncertainty as to when Otto Porter (hip) will return to the court.
Porter's injury situation is a little akin to playing "Where in the World Is Carmen San Diego?" right now as there have been conflicting reports as to how and when he suffered his hip injury as well as complete non-information on the results of his MRI from late-October. All we know at this point is that he's yet to take part in a full team practice since being drafted and that he shouldn't be on any fantasy rosters that aren't dynasty leagues.

Mon Oct 28 201315:40Otto Porter (hip) has MRI, no return in sight
Otto Porter went for an MRI on his strained right hip flexor on Monday.
He said last week that his hip still hurt and Wizards insider J. Michael writes that Porter "doesn't appear close to returning." He struggled in limited action during Summer League, before a hamstring injury shut him down, and coach Randy Wittman is worried about his learning curve and conditioning when he does return. It's not a recipe for rookie-season success.

Thu Oct 17 201320:04Leonsis: Porter could be out two more weeks
Wizards President Ted Leonsis said that Otto Porter (hip) could be out a couple more weeks during Thursday's Wizards broadcast.
There hasn't been much of an update on Porter and he's starting to look doubtful to start the year. He hasn't been a full participant in any training camp practice with his hip flexor strain, and he also suffered multiple hamstring strains in summer league. He has a huge upside, but the risks are piling up for the rookie.

Mon Oct 7 201309:55Otto Porter (hip) not running or jogging yet
Otto Porter (hip) said he's still not running or jogging yet.
"I'm still not in the process of jogging or running. It's limited. But I'm doing whatever I can," Porter said. "You definitely want to be out there, but you also want to learn from the side." His hip flexor strain has kept him from fully participating in practice for all of camp, and the news of him not being able to run suggests it could be a while before he's all the way back. Porter has the potential to be a stat-stuffing stud one day, but owners in redraft standard leagues should look elsewhere in the later rounds. Martell Webster would benefit most should Porter not be ready for the season opener.

Fri Oct 4 201318:53Porter (hip) does not practice on Friday
Rookie forward Otto Porter (hip) did not practice on Friday.
The Wizards don't want to rush Porter back but he is losing valuable developmental time before the season, so we wouldn't summarily dismiss the injury as inconsequential. Porter will need to surpass veterans Trevor Ariza and Martell Webster before he has any real fantasy value. This could happen in time but drafting for that scenario isn't advised in standard formats.
