Fri Jun 15 201200:32Westbrook quality in win over White Sox
Jake Westbrook turned in a quality start in Thursday's win over the White Sox, allowing just three runs on five hits over his six innings of work.
He struck out one and didn't walk a hitter in the game. The only damage against him and the Cardinals bullpen on the night was Adam Dunn's three-run moonshot in the sixth inning. Westbrook has now delivered a pair of consecutive quality starts after struggling for most of the month of May and early June. He'll look to keep the ball rolling when he squares off against Justin Verlander and the Tigers in Detroit on Wednesday.

Mon Jun 4 201200:30Jake Westbrook gives up five runs
Jake Westbrook gave up five runs and nine hits in five innings Sunday in a loss to the Mets.
It's the third straight start in which he's given up at least five runs. Westbrook had his sinker working great during March and April, but he's not getting the same movement of late. Hopefully, a delivery tweak will get him turned around soon.

Thu May 24 201223:48Westbrook pounded by Phillies
Jake Westbrook was pounded by the Phillies on Thursday to the tune of six runs on eight hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work.
Westbrook fanned four and walked three in the brief outing. Thanks to the powerful Cardinals offense however, he did not pick up a loss in the game. Even with the rough outing, he still sits at 4-3 with a 3.38 ERA on the season. He'll try to put this poor effort behind him and get back in the win column when he takes on the Braves in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Jake Westbrook fell to 3-2 on Thursday, yielding four runs on nine hits in 6 1/3 innings against the Pirates.
It was easily his worst start of the season, as he was unable to hold an early 2-0 lead. And in the second inning, Westbrook singled and stole second base, marking his first theft attempt in 17 seasons of professional baseball.

Jake Westbrook turned in a very strong performance against the Brewers on Friday, allowing just one run on seven hits through seven innings.

Mon Apr 9 201222:11Jake Westbrook solid in first start
Jake Westbrook pitched well Monday in his first outing of the season, holding the Reds to one unearned run on three hits and four walks over seven frames in the 7-1 win.
He struck out a pair. Westbrook's early control issues might have been a result of the fact that he was pitching on nine days' rest, as all four walks were issued in the first two innings before he settled in. The lone run scored on a throwing error of his own. The veteran righty lost weight over the offseason and had a terrific spring training, so a bounce-back year could be in order. He'll face the Cubs this weekend.

Sat Mar 31 201216:05Jake Westbrook beats Nationals
Jake Westbrook allowed just a run and two hits over 5 2/3 innings Saturday against the Nationals.
Westbrook's fine spring continues, as he improved to 2-1 with a 1.50 ERA. This was his last official outing, but as the Cards' No. 5 starter, he'll pitch once more in a minor league game before making his first regular-season start on April 9.

Sun Mar 11 201216:50Jake Westbrook solid versus Nationals
In a game that was later postponed, Jake Westbrook allowed one run in three innings Sunday against the Nationals.
He got six outs on the ground and two via the K. Westbrook, who is in much better shape this spring, has given up one run in five innings to date. No one is counting on him after his disappointing 2011, but he might have a little value in NL-only leagues.

Tue Feb 14 201214:13Westbrook shows up 25 pounds lighter
Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch notes that Jake Westbrook showed up at Cardinals' camp about 25 pounds lighter.
Westbrook returned to the Cardinals last winter on a two-year, $16.5 million deal, but posted a disappointing 4.66 ERA across 183 1/3 innings over 33 starts in 2011. His status could change if St. Louis adds free agent Roy Oswalt, but he currently projects as the club's fifth starter this season.

Tue Dec 6 201116:54Cardinals dangling Lohse, Westbrook
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Cardinals are making both Kyle Lohse and Jake Westbrook available for trade.
This confirms previous reports on Lohse, but evidently Westbrook is up for grabs, as well. Of course, Lohse is set to make $11.75 million in 2012 and has a no-trade clause, while Westbrook will earn $8.5 million following a year where he posted a 4.66 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. It's been speculated that the Cards could deal either hurler to make room for Mark Buehrle, or perhaps it would just be to free up more money to re-sign Albert Pujols.

Fri Oct 28 201119:21Westbrook first arm out of bullpen tonight
Manager Tony La Russa announced Jake Westbrook will be the first arm out of the bullpen tonight.

Jake Westbrook will replace Kyle McClellan on the Cardinals' roster for the World Series.
Another expected move. Westbrook was on the roster for the NLDS against the Phillies, but did not appear in a game. The veteran right-hander will pitch as a long man out of the bullpen if one of the Cardinals' starters are chased early.

Tue Oct 18 201119:29Westbrook will be on the Cardinals' WS roster
Jake Westbrook informed reporters Tuesday that he has been added to St. Louis' World Series roster.
Although Cardinals skipper Tony La Russa hasn't announced his official World Series roster, the public is already aware of the organization's moves because players are letting the media know what they have been told. In short: Westbrook and Skip Schumaker are in and Kyle McClellan and Adron Chambers are out. Westbrook was on the ALDS roster but has not yet appeared in a postseason game. He gives St. Louis a long-relief option out of the bullpen. Westbrook posted a 4.66 ERA over 33 starts this season and is 5-1 with a 4.76 ERA in 10 career starts against Texas.

According to Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Jake Westbrook could be restored to the Cardinals' roster for the World Series against the Rangers.
It's not yet known who he would replace on the active roster. Westbrook and Skip Schumaker (oblique) were left off the roster during the NLCS in favor of right-handers Kyle McClellan and Lance Lynn. Sun Oct 9 201109:26Jake Westbrook will be replaced on roster
The Cardinals will replace Jake Westbrook on the NLCS roster.
Westbrook was on the NLDS roster as a long man out of the bullpen but did not appear in a game. Former Cardinal and current 101 ESPN Radio analyst Chris Duncan indicated that Westbrook is dealing with a broken toe, but the Cards have not confirmed that report. Either way, he'll be replaced by a reliever, as two of Kyle McClellan, Lance Lynn and Eduardo Sanchez are expected to take the spots of Westbrook and Skip Schumaker (oblique).

Sun Sep 11 201116:59Jake Westbrook wins 12th
Jake Westbrook notched his 12th win Sunday, limiting the Braves to two runs on five hits and a walk over 5 1/3 innings in the 6-3 victory.
The Cardinals would've liked to have seen him go deeper into the game, something Westbrook has struggled to do all year, but it was ultimately a solid outing. The veteran now sports a 3.65 ERA over 12 second-half outings after a 5.34 mark prior to the All-Star break. He'll face the Phillies next weekend.

Mon Sep 5 201118:51Westbrook strikes out nine in the loss
Jake Westbrook yielded three runs (two earned) over six innings in Monday's loss to the Brewers.
He struck out a season-high nine in a losing cause, which was more than his previous three outings combined. Westbrook allowed nine hits (including a solo homer by Ryan Braun) while issuing just one walk. He'll carry a 4.65 ERA into a start against the Wild-Card leading Braves this weekend.

Wed Aug 31 201123:11Westbrook wins, hits grand slam
Jake Westbrook did it all for St. Louis on Wednesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits in five innings of work in addition to hitting a grand slam in an 8-3 Cardinals victory in Milwaukee.
The home run was the first of Westbrook's career. He entered tonight with just six RBI in 95 lifetime plate appearances. The start was far from his best, however, as he failed to complete at least six innings of work for just the second time in nine outings. The owner of a 3.73 ERA in 62 2/3 innings since the All-Star break, he'll get the Brewers again on Monday.

Fri Aug 26 201123:39Westbrook takes no-decision
Jake Westbrook allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings on Friday, taking a no-decision in St. Louis' 5-4 win over the Pirates.
He struck out three and walked five. The non-quality outing was just Westbrook's third in his past eight starts. The owner of a 3.75 ERA in 57 2/3 innings since the All-Star break, he'll get the Brewers in Milwaukee his next time out.
