Mon Jun 21 201023:39Reds' Dickerson (hand) progressing
Chris Dickerson (hand) has been taking batting practice with Triple-A Louisville, but hasn't begun a minor league rehab assignment.
Dickerson has been sidelined since undergoing surgeries on his right hand and wrist on May 3. The Red haven't presented a timetable for his return, but such surgeries are known to zap a player's power, so expectations should be held in check for the duration of this season.

Chris Dickerson, who underwent surgery on his right hand in early May, shagged flyballs on Thursday and has begun hitting soft toss in the cage.
"It's going pretty well," Dickerson said. "I don't feel like the power is even close. But it's getting close to where it's pain free. It's just a matter of time. Hopefully, by Sunday, I will be taking light batting practice. I might even try acupuncture to see if anything can loosen up the tightness in my forearm." There's no current timetable for his return.

Sat May 29 201017:57Reds transfer Dickerson to 60-day DL
Reds transferred OF Chris Dickerson from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Dickerson is still several weeks from returning. He played catch on Tuesday of this week for the first time since undergoing surgery on his fractured right hand May 3. Look for him around late July.
Wed May 26 201000:44Dickerson throws for first time since surgery
Chris Dickerson threw on Tuesday for the first time since undergoing surgery on his right hand on May 3.
More specifically, Dickerson had surgery to remove a broken hook from the hamate bone in his right hand and an arthroscopic procedure to clean out his right wrist. It's unclear when he will progress to the point of a minor league rehab assignment, but Dickerson hopes it is sometime in the next three weeks. "No clue -- it's the magic question," said Dickerson. "I should be swinging by the end of the week, if not, next week. Hopefully if that goes well, they'll send me off [to a rehab assignment] the following week."

Chris Dickerson underwent surgeries to remove the hook on the hamate bone in his right hand and to "clean out" his right wrist on Monday.
He is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, but it will probably take him some time to be at full strength swinging the bat once again. In the meantime, Chris Heisey will get a chance to prove his worth in the majors.

Sat May 1 201012:42Dickerson to have surgery on Monday
Chris Dickerson will have surgery on Monday to repair the broken hamate bone in his right wrist.
Dickerson just cannot stay off the disabled list and he's headed for another long stay. The exact timetable won't be known until he has the surgery, but wrist injuries tend take a while to heal and will linger even past when players return to the field. If you own Dickerson, it's probably time to cut bait and let him go.

Fri Apr 30 201016:30Reds place OF Dickerson on 15-day DL
Reds placed outfielder Chris Dickerson on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right wrist.
The injury bug bites Dickerson again. In this case, it's probably a good thing for the Reds, since Dickerson had been a major liability while getting his chances to play over Drew Stubbs. He was hitting .227 with no RBI and a ridiculous 19/1 K/BB ratio in 44 at-bats.

Mon Apr 5 201016:28Dickerson goes 1-for-5 in leadoff spot
Chris Dickerson went 1-for-5 as the Reds' leadoff hitter in the loss to the Cardinals on Monday.
The long single came in the ninth with the Reds down 11-4. Drew Stubbs, on the other hand, went 2-for-2 with an RBI after entering the game in place of Laynce Nix. We're assuming Stubbs will be in the lineup Wednesday. Whether Dickerson sits or plays left field remains to be seen.
Mon Apr 5 201009:52Dickerson playing CF, leading off for Reds
Chris Dickerson is starting in center field Monday against the Cardinals.
Dickerson is also leading off. Drew Stubbs is expected to see the majority of playing time in center this season, but with right-hander Chris Carpenter on the mound for the Cardinals, Reds manager Dusty Baker opted to use the left-handed Dickerson. Stubbs owners should get used to such scenarios.
